I’ve been very lucky in the sense that I’ve only had one game that the CPU had to take over. But when I looked at that game I noticed that the lineup the CPU used wasn’t the same as the one I would normally use.
However there is a way to make sure that if the PC take over your game, they will at least use a lineup approved by you
Step 1 Save a lineup:
When you play a game and get to the LINEUP check out the section in the upper right
1974 braves lineup
that area is where lineups can be saved. Once you have a lineup you want to save hit the SAVE button
Hit save to create a permanent lineup option
Once you hit “Save” a popup menu will appear. Type in the name you wish to use for said lineup
The nice thing about saving such a lineup is it becomes permanently available to you on the drop down list before each game.
OK once you’ve made your lineup now you have to save it for the PC
Step 2 Set it as a default lineup
Now that we have a lineup saved you need to tell the system this is the lineup you want in a given situation. This involves a few step. First go to your team’s home page:
Just below the standings is a button that says “Select Manager Profile” click on it.
This will take you to the 1st page of the manager profile section which is lineups. To see the saved lineups you have available click on Saved Lineups:
Now choose the situation you want your saved lineup to be used in. As you can see here Seattle has a lineup to use VS LHP. You can also choose what the system does in case one of the players in the saved lineup is not available. Either plug in another player in that spot or set preferences for various lineup spots if you want the PC to totally rebuild the lineup if someone is out.
When you’re finished hit save and viola the CPU has your lineup ready to roll with if needed
There are as you can see many other categories you can set for your team when the CPU is in charge but I’ll let you explore those yourselves
There have been some issues with games missed against opponents so I thought I should republish the rules on playing (particularly since the old blog is having issues)
Playing games and rescheduling
Real life always takes precedence over games and on occasion players will miss games or might be in a situation where they have to leave the league either temporarily or permanently
If the scheduled game time comes and your opponent is not there you are encouraged to give him 5 or 10 minutes to show up. If he does not show up or contact you by the 2nd 5 min wait period it is acceptable for you to being play
If a player is unable to play a series at the allotted date and time he is encouraged to contact his opponent & reschedule before the scheduled game time. If it is not possible to reschedule said player should put his team on auto for that series so his opponent can get the games in so as not to force an autoplay with the system taking both teams.
If due to illness or some other cause a player has to leave the league for a few weeks he is encouraged to find a replacement player to take over on a temp basis, if that is not possible he should put the team on autoplay until such time as he recovers.
If a player has to permanently leave the league and does not provide a replacement his team will go on autoplay and I will attempt to find a replacement manager.
REMEMBER IF YOUR TEAM IS ON AUTOPLAY AND YOUR OPPONENT REQUESTS A RESCHEDULE THE RESCHEDULE WILL AUTOMATICALLY TAKE PLACE AND IF SAID RESCHEDULE REQUEST IS FOR “NOW” THE GAME WILL BE PLAYED.
Also be aware that unlike the pervious version of the game if you are playing against the computer it does not say “computer manager” it has the name of the owner of the team so your opponent might not know you aren’t there. (some folks just don’t like to use the chat).
Auto Settings
If your team is on Auto Pilot that means that if a game is played the computer will take over as manager.
Be aware that you can set auto pilot for a single series so if you have to be away, or if work is particularly busy or even if you just don’t like the guy you are supposed to play that week you can check off the box and once the series is complete auto pilot will shut off.
On your team’s screen there is a Manager settings page that allows you to set how the pc manages when you are on Autoplay. You can set a default lineup vs lefties and righties, set up a rotation (and decide if a pitcher can go on short rest, when relievers come in. who your closers and setup people are, how aggressive to steal or run or take a base, pinch hitting and the lot.
You can set as little or as much as you want to set.
Even if like me you don’t plan on playing any auto games, things happen so if you want your team run the way you want it, make sure you check these settings.

Update: Was asked about the keeper rules so here is an update on that which I sent out by email to the person who asked:
Here is the system fyi number of keepers is in addition to any rookies who are having their 1st dynasty card in 1970 with your franchise:
World series winner 4 players
World series runner up 5 players
non-world series Division winners 6 players
Non division winning teams with the best & 2nd best record 7 players
Non division winning teams with the 3rd and 4th best records 8 players
Non division winning teams with the 5th and 6th best records 9 players
Non division winning teams with the 7th and 8th best record 10 players
Teams with the 3rd and 4th worst records 11 players
Teams with the worst and 2nd worst record 12 players
Note 1: this is the max not counting rookies that a team can keep a team may voluntarily keep less.
Note 2: This is after any expansion draft. If there is an expansion draft said draft takes place before rosters are reduced by these figures
Note 3: Rookies who have new cards in 1970 are automatically protected from an expansion draft.
Saturday at Pintastic NE is always a busy day. You tend to draw the largest crowds and there is plenty going on.
One of the more popular games was the Beatles 1964
Not only is the gameplay of this machine great but it of course has the best sound track of all the games here
A lot of people bring Pinball games here to sell but one of the problems is: If you sell a game how do you get it home? Well that’s where Dino of Shipmypinball.com comes in
Getting the machine from point A to point B is something that always needs to be considered when buying a machine.
Of course there are those who offer an alternative to buying game, RENTING THEM
I’m thinking the Bushey Brothers may cut the Gordan knot for many guys like me whose wives don’t want a game in their house or big money spent but might actually go along with getting a game in the house if it’s only for a month or two and someone else moves it in and out for you.
Of course there are some thing that shouldn’t be forgotten during Pintastic NE and such as God and the Sacraments. Luckily for a Catholic like me there is St. Anne’s Shrine only a mile away down the road.
If you’re wondering where the hat is , hey I’m at a church of course I have it off.
Of course if you’re buying an old game or even if you need an newer one there is always the need for the parts, that’s where Mayfair Games (not to be confused with the old wargame maker) comes in.
You will see them as the first dealer on the left at every Pintastic
Of course while the old game are big here It’s the new ones that draw eyeballs. One of those new players is American Pinball and I talked to their man David Fix.
He was in high demand and I didn’t have a chance to talk to him until the vendor room was closing. But it worked out very well because he moved one of the Legends of Valhalla games to the Extra Ball Lounge were my youngest and I started playing.
Alas my son is too good so we couldn’t show the full game
Of course I’m not the only guy filming here Todd Tuckey was Livestreaming
While the Guns and Roses Tribute Band: Welcome to the Jungle who played the event played on…
They came in to celebrate the release of the new Guns and Roses game from Jersey Jack who for some reason I didn’t manage to interview this year (more from the band later).
You might recall I talked to Michael two years ago when he brought a bunch of games, well he and Emily have graduated from hobby to Pinball Museum Proprietors in Pawtucket RI
You heard that right 28 of the machines people were playing came from them and it’s worth noting that on day four those machines were still here to play as they’re invariably the last folks out (next to Gabe of course).
But while the hobbyists and game providers are big the real question is what did the folks who paid their money to play think. I ran into four such folks who were attending Pintastic for the first time
When people are willing to come 3000 miles and say they’ll do it again next year you’ve got it right.
By this time is was late and I finished my work day talking to the tribute band after their 2nd performance.
after that I finally got to play the popular Sonic the Hedgehog homebrew which won best Homebrew game and can be played either via flippers or from a Sega controller
2 AM came very quickly and checkout is 11 AM so it was time to crash and prepare for the final day of Pinball.

As a bonus here are the standings of our face to face draft league which first began playing in 1987 in Fitchburg Massachusetts. We have two divisions with 4 teams each playing a 60 game season every other Saturday at Zeda’s Pizza in Fitchburg MA. The individual leagues are named for deceased members of the league. Five teams make the playoffs, the best record gets home field throughout and 2nd best record of the division leaders gets a home series against the best non-division winner while the final two teams play a one game playin for the right to face the best division winner in the playoffs.
New players are always welcome
