I would, however, like to inform you, or perhaps remind you, that our domestic laws, both provincial and federal, delineate freedom of expression (or “free speech”) in a manner that is somewhat different than the approach taken in the United States. I therefore encourage you to educate yourself, if need be, as to what is acceptable in Canada and to do so before your planned visit here.

And those free speech absolutists at Think Progress are celebrating in comments.

Now wasn’t the left always telling us George Bush was out to restrict free speech and Hollywood felt so repressed that Sharon Stone blamed Bush for not being able to kiss Halle Berry in Catwoman. I’m sure all those people on the left will complain about Canada doing their best China impersonation.

Hey none of these guys count. I’m waiting for those champions of free speech on the left.

My son had told me the goings on of this center and I found it disturbing that gang activity was condoned and drinking and smoking weed. My son told me the influence was every where and the staff (even security employees) did nothing to stop it.

So today’s around the blogroll will concentrate on blogs that covered the rallies.

Due to my visit to the 10th annual Worcester Diocese Catholic’s Men’s Conference I completed missed and heard not a thing about the rallies today so instead of the regular rotation of the blogroll feature we will focus on sites that covered the protests…

Let’s start with the other McCain. It was all over the protests:

If the President is telling you he doesn’t care about the procedure, as in the sign below the Gadsden flag here, you need to play the WTF card on the spot. Process is to government as safety interlocks are on equipment. Saying the process doesn’t matter is like saying the little gas nozzle piece that stops pumping when the tank is full doesn’t matter.

Reader Rob Kleine writes: “All the focus on the anti-Obamacare protests has me wondering: Are there any pro-Obamacare protesters? Or is the Emperor truly w/o clothes?” I think there was an anti-war protest today in DC, too, but if there were pro-Obamacare protesters I haven’t heard about ‘em.

Now that’s a good question, do they have a good answer?
The Reclusive Leftist takes a shot but being fair minded doesn’t forget the past:

Many people have pointed to this video as evidence of just how evil and barbaric the right-wing crazies really are. And they are, of course. But evil and barbaric is not exactly limited to the right. If you doubt me, cruise through the archives of this blog for the year 2008. Go on, I dare you. Remember the “Sarah Palin is a cunt” T-shirts? Remember the jokes about her “Mongoloid whelp”? Remember the public fantasies about murdering that lying bitch Hillary and burying her body in West Virginia? Good times.

American culture is coarse and vulgar and hateful. It’s like that on both the right and the left. I can’t stand any of it, to tell you the truth. This is why I live in an imaginary Smoking Lounge and pretend to be a ghost who’s sleeping with a reincarnated parrot. It’s more fun.

It’s not just the Sarah Palin stuff on the left, I remember a Coakley person in the face of a badly disabled man at the president’s appearance the sunday before the election

I guess that will do for now. I have a lot of video and photos from the conference but that will have to wait till tomorrow.

If all democrats are like this then we’ve got the next election in the bag

I was at a restaurant after the men’s conference and was telling the owner about my adventures during the Scott Brown campaign and CPAC when he introduced me to a reporter/democratic operative who had come to eat with his wife. It was a very interesting experience.

When I was asked to explain the reasons why I thought Martha Coakley lost I started out by reminding him of her abortion flip flop concerning the healthcare bill. The moment I brought that up the gentleman started filibustering saying I had no business voting for Scott Brown since he had flipped on abortion. He would not let me finish my point when he started making “tea bagger” references. I reminded him that this was a vulgar sexual reference, quite inappropriate as he was sitting with his wife in a public restaurant, but he continued to use the reference and then maintained that the Obama joker posters were beyond the pale and other than the odd union sign democrats never acted this way.

As I was in fact born after the invention of the internet and did live through the eight years of the Bush administration I wouldn’t let him get away with that either, saying he could tell that to the marines but not to me. (Even Charles Johnson wouldn’t fall for that). It was astounding, it was the same tone deafness that the Coakley campaign had combined with a touch of the bigotry of the Boston Berkshires and ‘Bama lady.

When the gentleman started to suggest that my mother who left the democratic party this year was “confused” it was definitely time to excuse myself. I game my respects to his embarrassed wife (I felt bad for her, she seemed a nice lady and her reaction to my respects suggested that she had to deal with her husband in this capacity before) and left them to their dinner.

His inability to listen, suggestions that I was not capable of learning or understanding, lack of basic decorum; particularly in front of lady were troubling. Combine this with his attempts to make assertions that were false on their face and frustration when I would not accept them leads me to believe that Coakley’s weaknesses are not unique among democratic circles. If that is the case then the Democratic party in Massachusetts may be in much worse trouble than they know or will acknowledge.
