Katherine McClintock: [after walking out of her bedroom to find G.W. and Mrs. Warren at the bottom of the stairs] What’s going on here?
George Washington McLintock: [Intoxicated, with Mrs. Warren sitting on his lap] Now Katherine, are you going to believe what you see, or what I tell you?

McLintock! 1963

For all of those people without a life who intend to watch the CNN Global warming special I’d like to make an important point that you likely have not considered. It’s a point I’ve made before but as both Tip O’Neill and St. John knew, good arguments need to be repeated often to people.

As I write this post at 10 AM on Tuesday here via a Drudge link, is the cone of Hurricane Dorian:

You will note that there both an exact location, an exact speed and and an exact direction the storm is moving at the moment along with a projected path of the storm in that image.

Now here are the current computer models of the projected patch of the hurricane over the next few days.

Notice the various paths shown by the models and that even though they are using the most modern equipment out there and well funded the various projected paths over the next four days are quite different some of them hundreds of miles apart.

And also note that all of these models have the advantage of having exact data, that is each of these models have identical factual data on.

  1. When the storm first developed
  2. Where the storm first developed
  3. The previous path of the storm
  4. The strength of the storm on that path
  5. The speed of the storm during that path
  6. The previous speed of the storm
  7. The current location of the storm
  8. The current speed of the storm
  9. The current direction of the storm

So with this all this exact data these models can’t agree on where this storm is going to be, how strong it will be and how fast it will get there over the course of five days…

…and yet we have our elites asking us to change our entire way of life based on computer models of meteorological events not days out but decades out and we have people teaching our young to be so panicked about their continued existence existed based on these models that they don’t believe they will be alive to middle age.

You’d have to be a real fool to believe this stuff, I say go ahead and buy that mansion on the coast like Obama did. It’s not going to be underwater any more than his is.

Update:  It’s 2:22 AM and I’m about to hit the sack but before I do I’d like you to compare the track from above to this updated track.

In the space of under one day, 19 hours to be precise the projected path is different and the width of the cone is different as well.

Keep that in mind the next time one of these idiots tells you that if you fly the planet is doomed.

…that peoples once under seem to have more respect for it than the academics who critique it:

of all the dramatic photos showing hundreds of young protesters storming the city’s legislative building this week, one image makes for particularly uncomfortable viewing in Beijing: The British colonial flag draped aloft a podium in the assembly’s chamber.

That’s not all. On a day supposed to celebrate the 22nd anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the “motherland,” other protesters were pictured defiantly flying giant Union flags in the Legislative Council.

Why are some protesters — many of them millennials — harking back to a bygone colonial era, two decades after Britain handed the city over to China as a semi-autonomous territory?

“Does it really mean that people seriously want colonial rule again? No — but I don’t think there’s any dispute among protesters that British rule was better than what we’ve got after the handover, especially in recent years,” said Lam Yin Pong, a Hong Kong journalist.

Furthermore this is not a phenom confined to Hong Kong:

“If we had the chance to go back to white rule, we’d do it,” said Solomon Dube, a peasant whose child was crying with hunger when I arrived in his village. “Life was easier then, and at least you could get food and a job.”

Mr. Dube acknowledged that the white regime of Ian Smith was awful. But now he worries that his 3-year-old son will die of starvation, and he would rather put up with any indignity than witness that.

An elderly peasant in another village, Makupila Muzamba, said that hunger today is worse than ever before in his seven decades or so, and said: “I want the white man’s government to come back. Even if whites were oppressing us, we could get jobs and things were cheap compared to today.”

His wife, Mugombo Mudenda, remembered that as a younger woman she used to eat meat, drink tea, use sugar and buy soap. But now she cannot even afford corn gruel. “I miss the days of white rule,” she said.

Nearly every peasant I’ve spoken to in Zimbabwe echoed those thoughts.

That’s from that well known bastion of white supremacy the New York Times.

As a rule countries that emulated British common law and their system of rights that came with it have prospered (think India) but for those who have not the Greatest argument for the British Empire has been what has replaced it worldwide.

Former Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco died August 18; she had been suffering from ocular melanoma.

Whether or not one agrees with her politics, pretty much everyone will concede that Governor Blanco was a class act. She was always gracious and kind, and her love for the state of Louisiana was never questioned. She caught a lot of heat during Hurricane Katrina, but no one ever questioned her love of the state or the city of New Orleans.

Last week The Advocate reports that toward the last days of her life Governor Blanco turned to medical marijuana for relief from the pain of her advanced disease.

Medical marijuana was made legal in Louisiana in the 1970s but it took until 2019 for all of the loopholes, regulation, and proper framework to be put in place. Now the drug is distributed as an oil by nine pharmacies throughout the state. It is legal in about thirty-three states in the U.S.

In July 2019, Blanco entered hospice care and by August was receiving medical marijuana. The drug was immediately effective on her and relieved her from the blackouts that she had from morphine. Her family insists that the oil returned a valuable quality of life to Blanco’s last days.

From The Advocate:

Blanco-Hartfield [Blanco’s daughter], put half a milliliter of oil under her mother’s tongue. “Within 60 seconds, her whole body relaxed,” Blanco-Hartfield said. “She smiled and a peacefulness came over her. It was amazing.”

The following day, Blanco-Hartfield gave her mother a mixture of two milligrams of crushed methadone that had been dissolved with a peppermint into water and half a milliliter of marijuana oil.

“All she had to do was let it go down her throat,” Blanco-Hartfield said. “By that night, she was smiling, eating, laughing and drinking. She could speak one-word commands. We never imagined we’d see that again. It made all the difference in the world that she no longer had to take the morphine.”

According to the family, Governor Blanco was able to rest comfortable, eat, and participate in important family events in her last days, and they believe that if the drug had been available sooner, Blanco may have even lived longer.

The drug remains very expensive, but if it does in fact provide such relief to terminal and to suffering patients, certainly it should be accessible.

Next week the NFL begins their season and there is as there always seems to be talk about the possibility of signing a woman as a kicker.

My thought on this is simple. As long as she doesn’t complain about being flattened by a 300lb man trying to block a kick, doesn’t hesitate to try to tackling a 250 pound mass of muscle returning a punt or blocked field goal and doesn’t mind be bruised when knocked on her ass by someone blocking her why trying to make that tackle, then I’m good with it.

But I don’t want to hear a single person complain if or when that woman is carried off the field after this.

On the subject of football is it just me or does nobody talk about James White?

I know that Edelman is spectacular, I know that Grok is well Gronk and I know that Gordon is a hell of a story but is there a player over the last few years who has been as consistent and as valuable as James White has been for the Patriots? Every time one or more of those other guys are gone White is still there and has come up big.

I think James White is the most underrated and underappreciated championship player on a championship team, not by Brady btw but by everyone else.

Is it just me or have the powers on high on the left decided that Trump will be elected thus Biden needs to be the sacrificial nominee to him?

———————

I think we shouldn’t be surprised at the MSM reaching the point where they are just making things up about Trump.

When you have a culture that is no longer Christian and is expressly Marxist and utilitarian you’re not going to be restrained by the standards of truth and facts.

I’m just surprised that so many on the left keep falling for it.

—————————–

There was a time when we were still a Christian Society and not split into a Christian and a post christian society with media, academic and cultural elites ruling the latter that the mothers of the girls mentioned in Stacy McCain’s piece would have given the warning he did about doing porn:

Well, of course, the video was circulated all over the high school — and who knows where else? The sharing of obscene photos and videos has become shockingly commonplace among young people, who don’t seem to understand the potential consequences. Parents have to warn their teenagers explicitly against this kind of behavior: No nudes, ever.

Don’t send such pictures of yourself, and don’t solicit them from others. If someone offers to send you such photos, tell them “hell, no,” block their phone number and avoid associating with them. Otherwise, you might “live your life in sin and misery,” and that’s a sad song you don’t ever want to sing.

The two sentence that follow are both truth. The first is a hard and cruel

Oh, the unbearable shame of it all! You were whoring around and thought nobody would ever find out what a nasty whore you are? Oops

But the 2nd is sadder because if the 2nd had been true very the number of young ladies that the first sentence would have been true about would have been dramatically increased.

What is happening, obviously, is that the parents of these girls have failed to warn them of the dangers, and probably most parents would not believe how common such behavior has become.

Given the devastation wrought by communism and Nazism in the 20th century it’s likely inaccurate to think of the 60’s generation as the single biggest win of the last 100 years for the Devil, but it easily makes his top five.
