Voices of the Candidates: Korey Welch (r) 5th Plymouth

Just before 10 p.m. after the Plymouth County GOP Straw Poll I went next door to Bella’s restaurant for a bite and in the Bar next to Corey Welch & his party all of whom joined the Axis of Fedora:

You might be asking. Pete, what’s with the grainy film? I owe Cory an apology, it was very late and I was very tired so I didn’t think to relocate to a spot with better lighting but then again the entire restaurant was very dark. It was the best tweak I could manage with Movie Maker to make him more visible

However I have an excellent still of him joining the Axis of Fedora, in fact his entire party joined the axis that now perhaps reaches into the Palin home. (Alas no.)

I actually had already uploaded the original and a black and white version until I settled on this as the best and deleted the other two from youtube.

Is a story a story if everyone already knows it?

The Ken Mehlman “coming out” story raises an interesting question about when a person is considered gay.

Mehlman was “outed” several years ago, and the reaction of people was pretty much the type of reaction that I would get if I told people I was fat. A total lack of surprise.

Since this was apparently something everyone knows it leads to the following questions about sexuality:

1. Is a person only considered a homosexual if they acknowledge it?

2. If a person comes out, is that considered forever, for example if a person announces later they they are in fact straight are they considered straight?

While these are interesting philosophical and or sociological questions, this doesn’t explain why the Mehlman story is so big? Of course it’s a great excuse to not report Tea Party/Sarah Palin wins Tuesday, but if we have to have the real answer Stacy McCain provides that for us.

There is nothing new under the sun, you see. There were gay people working for Republicans in 1967 and there are gay people working for Republicans today. What has changed is that gay-rights activists have turned sexuality into an identity-politics racket, so that any gay person who doesn’t share their agenda is made to feel inauthentic, a traitor to The Cause. And, as Marc Ambinder explains in his report at The Atlantic, this is now being used as a “wedge issue” by the Left

It is the attempt peel away conservatives that is the goal here and if this story can help the cause then it will be promoted by the media.

So as long as this is the case it will remain on top of memeorandum

Update: Via Glenn Ann Althouse nails it. It is all about becoming relevant , watch the MSM start using him as a goto guy when talking about republicans in the future.

Another example of Tea Party false flag violence

You mean the firebombing of Russ Carnahan office last week is yet the latest chapter of tea party violence that wasn’t:

The suspect was reportedly a disgruntled progressive activist employed by Russ Carnahan. An unnamed source familiar with the case released the information. Suspect Chris Powers reportedly was upset because he did not get paid so he firebombed the Carnahan finance offices at 2 in the morning.

What a complete shock.

Will we see any pullback from the media about the tea party since the suspect is a blogger at TPM, active in the progressive movement for years? Of course not, mathematically sooner or later they are bound to be right on one of these stories so why stop betting on it now?

If you were wondering why this story has gotten no national play, this is why.

Did the Carnahan camp know this and consent by silence to the media’s attempt to trump this up as a tea party incident? If this is true, doesn’t this make the fourth incident in which people associated with the Carnahan campaign have run afoul of the law and have engaged in illegal behavior? Why didn’t the Russ Carnahan campaign correct the narrative of the local alternative weekly and Jake Wagman’s subtle suggestion that it was a tea partier? Because he’s in the campaign of his life and is desperate for anything, even the sympathy vote?
