“Shut up and sing” catches up to Andy Griffith

As he is won’t to do, Glenn Reynolds notes sales on Amazon and mentioned that the Andy Griffith show is discounted. To nobody’s surprise Glenn’s readers who have noticed Griffith’s shilling for Obamacare have been unimpressed.

Reader Jim Breed writes: “Does the Andy Griffith series have the episode where Andy approves as Dr. Obama gives Aunt Bea the blue pill?” Heh.

And reader Paul Beardsleee writes: “I always enjoy seeing your pointers to Amazon deals. I think I’ll pass on the Andy Griffith Show boxed set. Seeing ‘Sheriff Taylor’ shill for Obamacare makes me wonder whether Barney Fife needs to go all Serpico on his boss.”

Griffith’s fame comes from a time when there was less separation from the public image and the private beliefs of actors. Griffith make a famous video in favor of then candidate Obama with Henry Winkler and Ron Howard before the election and he donated his time to support Obamacare on the air.

Now the Andy Griffith was a pretty good show and at his age (84) I suspect he isn’t all that much worried about the bit of residuals those sales will bring, but I’ll wager a few other members of the cast and their descendents might not be so happy.

Iran injects fuel into first reactor, nothing to see here.

The economy is driving this election but the world’s crises haven’t taken the election off:

Iran began loading fuel into the core of its first atomic power plant on Tuesday, moving closer to the start up of a facility that leaders have touted as defying of international efforts to curtail the country’s nuclear ambitions.

So Mr. President how’s that new respect around the world thingy working for ya?

Update: It might be worse then it sounds, talked to a scientist friend who said that this will give Iran an easy source of Plutonium for a bomb with a lot less effort or industrial need than a simple Uranium bomb. The only way to strop it? Blow it up! Paging Israel!

The Big Red Wave washes away Clinton’s Crowd

We are constantly told by the media that Clinton is riding to the rescue of democrats but apparently that old gray stud he ain’t what he used to be:

he began his speech just before 3 p.m. in a high school gym that was less than half full. The appearance was in support of gubernatorial candidate Virg Bernero, shown in most polls to be trailing Republican candidate Rick Snyder by 20 percentage points.

The most amazing thing about this story is was the next paragraph:

Shortly before Clinton took the stage, the Rev. Wendell Anthony, president of the Detroit branch of the NAACP, urged attendees to leave bleacher seats along one side of the gym and try to fill the area in front of the podium before Clinton began his address.

It reminds me of his rally for Coakley in Jan, held at WPI full of kids who don’t vote, Union guys whose stewards were watching them and aging activists lined up as if it was a Tom Jones concert.

In that post I compared President Clinton to a thief in an episode of Dr. Who and quoted this line:

DOCTOR: I wonder if ol’ Taffy knows the real value of it. “Scringe stone” found in a dead man’s pocket? A lost mine? A phony ma… are people still falling for that old guff? I mean are they?

Apparently this year, they aren’t.

9:58 p.m. Asked about the power of the Sheriff office, and the lesser power in Massachusetts. He answered that there is a lot of local power held outside the position. He doesn’t consider that a problem as running the prison and coordinating with State and local police is more important that just a question of power.

9:52 p.m. Talks about a good idea to have a law enforcement presence on the Gov Council.

9:49 p.m. The argument is concerning the advantage about keeping long term congressmen.
