If good works are fruits of the Holy Spirit…

…then my neighbor from across the street is an Orchard.

I spent yesterday morning making a list of things I have to do today concerning the show and the business it is. In addition to that base list I knew I had to shovel so as soon as I had a series of posts scheduled I grabbed a shovel and started working on the back when I noticed a cascade of snow heading across my front lawn.

I figured it was falling off a neighbor’s roof but nope it was the man from across the street, snowblowing my front.

He knows my snowblower is busted and I can’t afford a new one these days so without even asking he started clearing out my area, and a bunch of other neighbors as well.

He is a Jehovah’s Witness. Aside from basic Christianity in theological terms we are very far apart but let me tell you something, if Christianity is boiled down to Love of God and Love of neighbor he has it down pat.

I know I wrote about them last year but they are certainly living my friend James Marley’s words “The only Bible some people will ever see is ourselves, so act accordingly”.

Update: Lisa Graas comments, I would stress that this post isn’t about if the doctrinal beliefs Jehovah’s Witnesses is sound (it isn’t) but it is about a good neighbor acting like one. I will have a longer post on the subject tomorrow.

…in Boston.

I had absolutely no idea that this moment would become life changing.

I was before that moment a guy who was blogging a bit while looking for a tech support gig, finding interviews few and far between. I had not been on an Airplane in 17 years, had never been to DC, Virginia or Georgia and had not really met any of my fellow bloggers.

By the end of one week I was a credentialed Blogger at the Scott Brown Victory party. Over the course of the year i’ve been to CPAC, Started writing for Examiner.com, Covered tax day rallies in Boston and DC, Ridden on the Tea Party express, Covered a congressional race in Georgia, attended Blogcon, Stopped by the Black Family reunion, Interviewed Renne Ellmers who would eventually become Congresswomen Ellmers, Covered the 9/11 & 9/12 rallies in DC, Watched the production of the Dancing Barney Frank Video, Went on a road trip through 5 states, Interviewed Ann Marie Buerkle (now congresswoman Buerkle) , Covered congressional debates and attended victory parties and now host my radio show DaTechGuy on DaRadio.

This has in short been one of the most eventful and interesting years I have lived.

But all of it started with A tip jar request, an offer to put Stacy up for a week (since I didn’t have the cash to spare) and a drive to Boston and the rest is history.

Christmas Open House today UPDATE: Guest count begins!

4:00 a.m. The 70th guest left at this time and the party officially ended. Wow!

7:44 p.m. 63 and counting

5:40 p.m. 52 the record is broken

4:11 49 people already 3 shy of the record Wow!

42 at it’s not even 4 p.m. !

Up to 28 and it’s only an hour in!

My annual Christmas Open house is today from 2 p.m. till the last person leaves.

The rules are: turn up any time, stay as long as you want, leave any time. The party end when the last person leaves.

There is a VERY limited amount of beer and some booze but there is Lasagna, Ham, braciole, wings, sauce, meatballs, some sausage, deserts etc etc etc.

The only beer is a sixpack of Wachusett Country Ale (even though they aren’t advertising with me HINT HINT) so if you have a favorite you might want to bring it.

One note, due to today’s show I’ll be leaving around 8:15 p.m. to go to the studio, do the show and then come back, likely around 11:15 or so.

Remember the party ends when the last person leaves, the latest its gone is 2 a.m. and the earliest 10:45 but since DaScienceGuy will be in the car the last guest will be here till 11:15 at least.

There will be game systems set up in two rooms and many types of board games to choose from Apples to apples to Cave Troll to the munchkin games to chess.

So eat drink and be Merry and celebrate the 8th day of Christmas with us!

And if you want to know what to bring:

  • Your favorite Booze or beer in case we don’t have it (we have vodka, stoli, Rum and raspberry stoli, a little Lambrusco and some Chivas)
  • Ice
  • Or any dish you wish if you wish.

but mainly bring yourself.

And not to be a party popper but don’t be bringing drugs, if you do we will kick you out and call the cops on you.  And if you are under age I don’t care if your 21st birthday is tomorrow don’t even think of touching a drop of booze here or you will be kicked out and the cops called on you.
