I was pleasantly shocked this morning when the remaining living Israeli hostages were released, I really didn’t expect it to happen. I won’t be shocked if the bodies of the dead ones don’t come back but I’ll be delighted to be wrong.

I was not shocked when the Palestinians in Gaza started slaughtering each other (the ones in areas not still held by Israel of course) that was no surprise.

But if you want to see what is the least surprising thing of all, it’s this:

Not a protestor in sight over the murder of Palestinians by other Palestinians, because in the end the “protestors” don’t care about Arab lives, they simply want Jews dead.

I suspect you will see this lack of reaction from all those who loudly demanded a cease fire because the only people they wanted to cease firing were the Jews.

Unexpectedly of course

Yesterday during the Antifa conference Marco Rubio upstaged the rather important meeting with the news that they where on the verge of a breakthrough in the middle east.

Now I have woken up and the news is Hamas has accepted stage one of the peace deal and the hostages (at least the living ones) will be released on Monday.

Now I don’t for one minute doubt the deal making ability of this Trump administration which has pulled rabbits out of their hats on more occasions then I can count.

But what I DO doubt is the sincerity of Hamas, I doubt that they will release the living hostages, I doubt that they will release the bodies of the dead, I doubt they will disarm and I doubt they will give up killing Jews.

My guess is that they will (at absolute best) release the living hostages and then dig in their heels figuring Trump will not be as adamant about dead bodies when it comes to pushing the peace plan. Of course we might not actually see all the living hostages released either. Given Hamas’ history we also might not see any hostages released and Hamas back out at the last minute.

Now in fairness I’ve argued from the beginning that Israel should consider the hostages dead and crush Hamas without mercy. I know that’s a hard thing but the destruction of Hamas will save a lot more lives in the long run, but it’s not my call it’s Israel’s call and if they were willing to lose troops to free these people then so be it.

Bottom line: I’ll believe that the hostages will be released when they are all turned over to Israel till then I’ll watch and wait.

I hope I’m wrong.

If I am and Trump not only gets the hostages, but secures peace then the Nobel Peace Prize will not be good enough for him.

There is one headwind that a lot of Trump fans don’t understand. The speed at which all of the things that Donald Trump has accomplished in not even nine months in office is completely abnormal.

That speed is akin to Tom Brady’s run with the Patriots. Brady made dominance of the opponent so much the norm that when he was gone New England fans consider the need to build a winning team against other worthy opponents practically an insult.

Trump is winning when he can and pushing forward to keep things going but even with a better team than last time expecting miracles every single day is self defeating. Keep things in perspective.

Another characteristic of the Trump years that I’ve found VERY annoying has been the two extremes. The “all Trump does is evil” extreme that the entire Democrat party has seemed to adopt and the “Trump is God personal representative on earth” extreme meaning we must always be in lockstep.

While the first is considerably worse to the point where people are actually defending crime and murder both are tiresome. I understand a fair amount of people make their living either by trashing trump or by worshiping him loudly but that’s not for me.

For me Trump is the best president of my lifetime and if his term ended today it would be a toss up if I would rank him ahead #2 or behind Lincoln as #3.

But in the end he is simply the president who will not be president in four years and the various grifters will find another way to grift once he’s gone.

There is one simple rule concerning Trump that when I mentioned it to DaWife had her laughing out loud.

Trump lives to troll his foes (I have a brother like this, he loves to wind up people especially those who are asses)

When given the choice between doing the right thing OR doing the right thing while Trolling his foes, Trump will ALWAYS choose the latter.

When doing a neutral thing Trump will ALWAYS troll his foes.

While a lot of this comes from how they treated him his foes have enabled this by hanging on his every word.

Trump has the advantage here because for decades many of those he trolled approached him on bended knee for cash or to be invited to parties etc, and only turned when he was a threat to their power. He knows them for what they are which is why he will always have the advantage.

On a similar vein Robert Kennedy is having a field day with his foes and there are many and he’s doing it in a very simple way.

He’s speaking the truth openly, and not caring what they say because like Trump, many of those who are attacking him were fans in the past when they thought they could use his wealth or name for their advantage.

So he confronts them directly, speaking plain truth to folks who have gotten rich off of lobbyist money and deals, he knows how the system works and answers with plain factual answers because he actually believes his job is not to protect the CDC but to protect the people it is supposed to serve.

He’s lucky the Democrats did not nominate him, they would have assassinated him by now if they had and elevated a deep state VP to power.

If you really want to understand why so many people are fighting so hard to preserve the deep state, or crime or to destroy Israel etc etc etc it really comes down to one thing.

There were an awful lot of people who made an awful lot of money out of all the grift that was and is going on.

Every single NGO, every single admin, every single “influence” who was and or is getting a piece of everything from China money, to Cartel money, to Qatar money to taxpayer money knows that clearing things up means they are of no use to the elites who are getting the lion’s share of this stuff when means that the days of wine and roses are gone.

This is why it’s smart to live modestly. Once you get used to the very high life it becomes difficult to go back to the norms of life, even norms that are fairly comfortable. Such people will do anything and clutch at anything to keep themselves at the current social level even if it means debt and disgrace or worse.

Hundreds of thousands have been stealing from hundreds of millions and those hundreds of thousands will fight for the right for their cut to the end because the alternative is to see themselves as they are not special, but a regular human being.

Cue Ray Liotta as Henry Hill:

Headline: World death rate Holding Steady at 100%

The Onion 1997

One of the oldest DaTechGuy sayings is that wishing for someone to be dead is one of the most effective wishes that a person might make because sooner or later said wish WILL in fact come true. The only question being: “Will you be alive to see it happen?”

The whole three day “Trump is dead” business reminds me a bit about the excellent four part comic book series: The death of Batman (Batman 291-294 1977) where after he hasn’t been seen for several days someone starts a rumor that Batman is dead and a trial is held in the underworld to see which claimant taking credit for it is guilty (I include a link to the four stories if you wish to read them).

That this actually took off is really a commentary on the Donald Trump 2nd terms vs the Joe Biden presidency.

During the Joe Biden years Biden was constantly on vacation. Actions were taken to minimize his interaction with the public and the press and even pre-arranged questions and answer were arranged to manage the moments when they did “question” the president.

All during this time the press kept insisting that Joe Biden is fine and anybody who thought otherwise was creating “deepflakes” and spreading “disinformation”. This campaign began during the 2020 campaign and continued right up until 9:05 PM or so on June 27 2024 when it became instantly clear to every viewer watching that Joe Biden could not function.

Go back to Instapundit on that day and watch some of the video, it was devastating.

The point? Nobody in media questioned Joe Biden health or fitness until the moment it was not possible to sell the lie anymore.

Now let’s turn to Donald Trump.

From the day he was elected, NOT from the day he was sworn in Donald Trump has been in people’s faces. He has been action Action ACTION! Constantly talking to the press live, constantly pushing his agenda, it’s been nonstop action from the very first and it has not changed. Other than judicial nominations he has basically gotten a full four years worth of work done in about 7 months.

You can’t escape him, he’s been go Go GO! on everything and despite his advanced age has shown no sign of slowing down, (A lifetime of no booze or drugs can do that for a body). Every single day he’s been going forward, folks like me who as the saying goes: “We haven’t gotten tired of the winning”.

But the left has grown tired of all the losing and it’s been so endemic that they simply can’t handle it, it’s driven them mad to the point where it’s become an obsession. You can’t escape him, you can’t function, you can’t deal with the reality.

And then suddenly he’s gone for a few days.

Now for most normal people the idea of taking a few days off after working non-stop for a year (counting the election campaign) would be a no brainer. The question for us wouldn’t be why he would take some time to spend with a grandchild, but the question would be why he hadn’t done this before?

But for an already obsessed and broken left, three days without Trump in their faces, when they have lived and breathed Trump for most of the last decade was a source of confusion.

The thought that he might actually take a few days off never even slightly occurred to them, it HAD to be something nefarious, after all this is TRUMP! There HAD to be something wrong, there HAD to be a crisis, and from there it became: He must be dead!

They have reached such a point of derangement that they let themselves believe that Trump had died and began tweeting it out and even celebrating, which made the crash when this nonsense was revealed for what it was even worse for them (except for the few who might have died during those three days thinking that Trump was gone who died happy).

All of this is indicative of the deep mental illness and obsession that Trump has brought on to them.

My advice is the same I gave on twitter. Stop obsessing with Washington and a person you will likely never meet and get on with improving your actual life. If you treat Trump like any other president you’ll be happier and healthier. Trump is an old man, sooner or later he will die as all men do. Living your life for that moment is a waste of time and if you only live for that moment the disappointment you will find when it turns out Trump’s death doesn’t improve your life at all will be too much for you to bear.

Note: I don’t expect this advice to be taken even slightly.
