Today on DaTechGuy off DaRadio we have several interesting things to talk about

  1. The return of Secession as a Democrat election strategy
  2. Sports ratings for the new woke seasons of #bidenball
  3. Black “diversity” and Systemic Racism, reality vs Bidentalk

It all starts at 3 pm EST today you can watch the livestream here.

Hope you enjoy it

A couple of weeks back I wrote this piece noting how the Democrat leaders from Mayors to Governors to Party leaders like Pelosi on Portland were the same arguments being made by the defenders of Slavery prior to the civil war and the defenders of Jim Crow during the debate on the civil rights bill of 1957.

Now I’ll readily concede that given our current education system and the lack of interest in reading anything but Howard Zinn communist approved history some of these debates and arguments might not be familiar to the current Democrat Leadership like Nancy Pelosi or Democrat Mayors like Ted Wheeler or “Journalists” like Brian Stelter let alone the rank and file leftists/ Democrats posting on facebook or twitter.

But as someone who HAS read this stuff I find it incredibility interesting that the arguments of today’s Democrat left/media are the arguments of the slaveholder and the defenders of Jim Crow and are being made under the banner of Black Lives Matter.

That piece got me on Fault Lines Radio in DC and the host there, who in fairness gave me plenty of time to make my initial point, scoffed at my premise that this was a sign of Democrats talking like secessionists.

Then this story broke.

Now I want to note three things here that are vital:

  1. These people are actually war-gaming states threatening to secede from the Union in Trump is re-elected.
  2. The people doing this wargaming are top officials in the democrat party to wit
  3. The people telling us about this scenario is the Democrat Party’s newspaper of record the NYT

Here’s the full quote from the NYT

But conveniently, a group of former top government officials called the Transition Integrity Project actually gamed four possible scenarios, including one that doesn’t look that different from 2016: a big popular win for Mr. Biden, and a narrow electoral defeat, presumably reached after weeks of counting the votes in Pennsylvania. For their war game, they cast John Podesta, who was Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, in the role of Mr. Biden. They expected him, when the votes came in, to concede, just as Mrs. Clinton had.

But Mr. Podesta, playing Mr. Biden, shocked the organizers by saying he felt his party wouldn’t let him concede. Alleging voter suppression, he persuaded the governors of Wisconsin and Michigan to send pro-Biden electors to the Electoral College.

In that scenario, California, Oregon, and Washington then threatened to secede from the United States if Mr. Trump took office as planned. The House named Mr. Biden president; the Senate and White House stuck with Mr. Trump. At that point in the scenario, the nation stopped looking to the media for cues, and waited to see what the military would do.

Note this isn’t some slub at a BLM rally or a local mayor or even some governor, this is JOHN F—ING PODESTA! The guy the Democrats sent out to the crowds to reassure them and send them home on election night because Hillary Clinton Couldn’t face them. He’s a power in the party and has been one of their biggest player for years.

And this guy representing a party supposedly outraged over statues of Confederate Generals and statesmen in the public square is actively wargaming blue Democrat states threatening to secede from the union if they don’t like election results?

Given this fact I think my comparison between the current Democrat leadership and the Democrats of 1860 is not only validated, but was on reflection apparently understated to the extreme.

Four years ago when I re-endorsed Donald Trump after the Billy Bush tape dropped I posed this question to Jonah Goldberg:

Update 4: I respect Jonah Goldberg whose point is valid:

Either way, this video is not an aberration. It is not a special circumstance. It’s him. There’s no pivot in him. There’s no “presidential” switch to flip. He’s Donald Trump all the way down.

However given the reality that either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton will be the next president of the United States I ask Jonah this question:

If we concede that Donald Trump’s character is bad, Would it be better for the country to have a President of poor character who will be under intense scrutiny by the press, pols and law enforcement agencies (Trump) or to have a President of poor character who will be given a pass and or defended by the press, the pols and apparently the FBI regardless of what they say or do (Hillary).

I submit and suggest the answer is clearly the former.

Now it’s four years later and on twitter a general question was asked as to why one supports Donald Trump for President. This was my answer:

However there are others who have a much dimmer opinion of the president & his accomplishment who find themselves in the Trump column this time around for completely different reasons:

While I have issues with some of the characterizations in this thread the primary point that is being made is rather critical

When it comes to the media/left is has now been amply demonstrated that DaTechGuy’s Laws of media outrage are in full force and no action by a Democrat, by the Democrat Party or even by people who are part of the Democrat base may be critiqued or highlighted if it might reflect badly on the potential return of Democrats to power or the maintenance of said power if it happens. And as Glenn Reynolds pointed out this view is not confined to pols and press:

It’s disappointing to see not just the usual gang of idiots, but also some people who should know better joining the hysteria here. As I said before, we had elections during the Civil War and there’s no need to delay them now. But once again, just because a tweet — or other presidential action — riles up the political class doesn’t make it an impeachable offense. And if our political class had been as dedicated to actually defending decency, decorum and tradition as it is determined to weaponize them against Trump, we wouldn’t have gotten Trump.

Amusingly on Facebook where this was originally posted, one person explicitly agrees with Steve Matthews’ legal argument — except for Trump. Because #OrangeManBad. Rule of law!

Put simply we now know that if the Democrats in general and Joe Biden in particular are given the reins of government, no action they take will be subject to critique by the mainstream media in print or television (except perhaps a 30 second segment at the end of Jake Tappers show to throw us a crumb).

However we can be assured that if Donald Trump is reelected, his words, his deeds, his facial expressions, his companies, their business dealings, his family and even his passing of gas will be scrutinized by this press to a level that will be the envy of the Chinese Totalitarian state (and likely financed by it too).

The bottom line is clear, if you don’t trust government and what to be sure that the press shines a bright light on anything it does, you need to re-elect Donald Trump.

If you however are a relative of a Democrat pol or of a large Democrat donor and want to be sure that you can get rich either off the taxpayer’s dime or via foreign money contributed to you as a favor. Well vote democrat.

Your call people.

There are not one hundred people in the United States who hate The Catholic Church, but there are millions who hate what they wrongly perceive the Catholic Church to be.

Bishop Fulton J Sheen

One of the things you notice when you read old histories and biographies is that until about the 70’s the United States was a deeply Christian country with a deeply Christian culture. Even if one was not a Christian an educated person knew Christian scripture as a basis of Western Civilization, understood what Christians believe and would recognize Christian cultural & scriptural reference with no problem.

Since the left in general and the Democrat party in particular has become largely secular or hostile to Christianity this memory and knowledge is pretty much gone. What’s replaced it is a parody of what the secular left believes Christianity to be based on certain Protestant sects (there are thousands of them) which are generally parodied in film and TV.

This has led to the rather comical (to an even fairly catechized Christian, particularly Catholics ) where members of the left denounce Christians for including people in our numbers who have “gasped” sinned!

This has gotten even worse in the Trump years as we have seen the rise of what I call the #wokepharisee on twitter, particularly among certain accounts which claim to be run by self proclaimed Catholics loudly listing Donald Trump’s past sins and stating that no faithful Catholic can support one who has committed such sins.

Forgetting the insanity of so called “Christians” rushing to support the party of abortion (a grave mortal sin) and apparently forgetting that the entire premise of Christianity is that Jesus Christ suffered and was Crucified to redeem man from our sins, there is a long scriptural history of God using the least likely people to advance his will.

Looking at this list

  • Moses: murderer
  • David adulterer AND murderer
  • Peter proclaimed himself “a sinful man” before Christ called him and denied him three times after.
  • Matthew was a money changer and considered a traitor to his race
  • Mary Magdalene so evil that she had seven demons in her before Christ cast them out
  • St. Paul not only persecuted the Church but held the coats of those murdering the 1st Christian martyr

It seems rather silly to say that Donald Trump isn’t worth the title “Christian” nor worth the support of any other Christian.

The real comedy however comes from the self righteous proclamations which instantly reminds any Christian remotely familiar with the new testament of this speech

The Pharisee took up his position and spoke this prayer to himself, ‘O God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity – greedy, dishonest, adulterous – or even like this tax collector.I fast twice a week, and I pay tithes on my whole income.’

Luke 18:11-12

Can’t you just see this rewritten for today?

The Woke NeverTrump Pharisee took up his position and spoke this prayer to himself, ‘O God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity – racist, sexist, judgmental or even like that Donald Trump supporter. I denounce Trump’s sins daily, am completely tolerant of all non-Christians and watch my carbon footprint like a hawk

That they can not see this parallel proves that Screwtape hit the nail on this head with this piece of advice to his nephew wormwood:

All you then have to do is to keep out of his mind the question “If I, being what I am, can consider that I am in some sense a Christian, why should the different vices of those people in the next pew prove that their religion is mere hypocrisy and convention?” You may ask whether it is possible to keep such an obvious thought from occurring even to a human mind. It is, Wormwood, it is! Handle him properly and it simply won’t come into his head.

C.S. Lewis the Screwtape Letters #2

It’s gotten so ridiculous that I’ve actually had a self proclaimed “Christian” publicly request that I take him off a twitter prayer list I have because he didn’t want the prayers of a Trump supporter. That a person supposedly of faith could make such a request is so comical that the one liners write themselves.

For any Christian it’s axiomatic that “The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the LORD, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” (Proverbs 9:10) but for the NeverTrump Woke Pharisee Ignorance of Christianity in general & Scripture seems a requirement for membership.
