The Whitesox stand at a 30-95 record as of Monday Morning.

The 1962 Mets went 40-120 for .250 winning percentage.

With 162 games 40 wins would give the White Sox a winning percentage below .250 so they need 11 rather than 10 more wins to surpass the Mets and avoid being the worst team in MLB history since 1900.

Here is the remaining White Sox Schedule:

  • at SF Giants (3)
  • vs Detroit Tigers (4)
  • vs Texas Rangers (3)
  • vs NY Mets (3)
  • at Baltimore Orioles (3)
  • at Boston Redsox (3)
  • vs Cleveland Indians (I refuse to call them anything else) (3)
  • vs Oakland A’s (3)
  • at California Angels (3)
  • at San Diego Padres (3)
  • vs California Angels (3)
  • at Detroit Tigers (3)

In theory they could manage to get to 11 wins without winning or even splitting a single series. All they have to do is win a single game in each of those series and viola 12 wins and they avoid ignominy.

Alas the Redsox, Orioles, Indians, Mets Padres and even the Giants are all in division or wild card races and will have a real incentive to try to sweep the easiest remaining games on their schedules. If only half of those teams manage a sweep that means to avoid replacing the 1962 mets at the bottom of the barrel the White sox would have to

  • split their 4 game set with Detroit
  • win at least one of their remaining series
  • and not be swept by any non-playoff team

Can they do it? I have absolutely no idea but it will be fun to find out, unless you’re a White Sox fan.

It does however give one a reason for following the team.

If things go as bad as I suspect they will I’m the White sox front office I arrange for the surviving members of the 62 Mets to attend any game where the White Sox can clinch the worst record of all time and arrange for a ceremony where a member of the 62 Mets (Ed Kranepool?) gives them the fickle finger of fate award a-la Laugh-In if they manage to do so.

If you’re going to go down you might as well celebrate it.

The Indiana Heat of the WNBA are currently in the #7 playoff spot, a half game ahead of the #8 team and a full 3 games ahead of the #9 team which means that barring disaster over their last 13 games Caitlin Clark is going to take a team that hasn’t made it to the playoffs for nearly a decade back into the WNBA playoffs.

Can’t wait to see the ratings.

Kamala is busy stealing Trump ideas promising to do all kinds of things that she hasn’t bothered to do before.

If I’m the GOP I’m quickly passing a bill to make tips exempt from federal taxes and to advance the credit that Trump proposed that Kamala is pushing as well.

Get the both passed and let the dems in the senate kill them the week of their convention.

At least that’s what I’d do.

I can not emphasize how important if true this is

Epstein explained how the prosecutors tried to get him to give testimony to support Trump’s impeachment, even if it wasn’t true. Here is Tartaglione’s description of their conversation:

He [Epstein] said, ‘I don’t know anything. . . . But the government told me I don’t have to prove what I say about Trump as long as Trump’s people can’t disprove it.’ I [Tartaglione] said ‘Yes, he’s the President of the United States. His people are the FBI.’ He [Epstein] said, ‘That’s what I said, and they said, no, the FBI’s our people, not his people.

It is worth noting that Section 1622 of the U.S. Criminal Code (Title 18) provides as follows:

§1622. Subornation of perjury

Whoever procures another to commit any perjury is guilty of subornation of perjury, and shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both.

There have been no follow up interviews with Tartaglione. Jessica reports that the day after she posted the audio of her interview with him, he was transferred out of the Brooklyn MDC, where he had been for eight years, to an unknown destination, and has not been heard from since:

I miss the days when the FBI was actually busy protecting Americans and following the law, assuming they were actually doing that in those days.

I’ve spent a lot of years comparing the Abortion industry to the Slavery industry and there is one thing that they both have in common.

It’s all about the profit and apparently the profit margin just isn’t there anymore

There’s some real irony here. Pro-life groups have spent decades campaigning against abortion and especially against late-term abortion. But it seems many clinics (like the ones in New York mentioned above)  are now feeling pressure to stop performing these late abortions, not because of a change in the law but because of Bidenflation. I guess that’s what they call a silver lining.

I’m not a fan of Biden/Harris inflation but if the higher prices are saving kids lives I’ll take the hit.

For 40 years I have been picking up meds for DaWife but have never had to take any myself.

This ended today as apparently my blood pressure which has been historically low all my life has shot up to levels so high that my wife is shocked I haven’t had a stroke.

This is not a huge surprise as my father had issues with both his heart and high blood pressure and died at 65, then again he was a heavy smoker till he was 45 and a heavy drinker till about 50 and I’ve never smoked and I drink so infrequently (maybe a dozen drinks a year) that most people think I’m a teetotaler.

I think not having regular meds till 61 isn’t bad but it’s a dramatic change for me and given the BP levels I’ve been showing over the last two weeks I guess it’s necessary but I would have liked to make it to retirement before I needed meds.

It is what it is and after all a man has to die of SOMETHING

Stephan Curry’s impossible three point shot was the talk of twitter as team USA won gold again in basketball and is rightly considered a huge moment for the team in the Olympics.

But the real story is European basketball has progressed so far since the days of the original dream team of Bird, Jordan, Magic and Barkley that both France and Serbia are making these games, GAMES.

I may live to see another country win the Gold vs a dream team.

Between Walz’s issues with Stolen Valor and Kamala’s fake crowds I’m really wondering if the Democrats won’t be changing one or more horses in next week’s convention.

Given the coup against Biden it’s very possible. I think they just should have done the 25th Amendment but they don’t want to risk a 50-50 senate for the next 100 days or more.

Eventually reality wins out and the reality of the same Kamala that the were saying was a weakness for Biden remains.

The real question in Russia right now is what will the Ukrainians do with the initiative they have seized.

Will they like Stonewall Jackson in the valley use this initiative to try to turn Russian forces out of the Donbas region or will this like Jeb Stewart try to wreak havoc on a wider area or will they like Braxton Bragg that Lookout Mountain await the Russian response.

This decision might decide the war or at least as much of the war that takes place before the election.

In Venezuela Maduro fresh from stealing an election is getting all kinds of offers for amnesty if he leaves the country rather than continuing his crackdown to suppress the people after the steal.

What it really comes down to is does he want to spend his stolen money there or somewhere else? Of course if he leaves a lot of those folks who are doing the grunt work of Murder and oppression will have their days numbers so even if he wants to go they might not allow it.

I’m sure there are more than a few Democrats in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin watching what happens there.

Finally can someone explain to me how Boeing gets a new giant defense contract given their massive problems lately?

I don’t know how much they’re paying their lobbyists in DC but apparently they’re worth every penny and more.

You know maybe it’s just me but if I wanted to convince people that election 2020 was on the up and up I likely would pass a law making it illegal for the canvasing boards from investigating election fraud.

Of course if my goal was to win at all costs and didn’t have a problem with people knowing I was cheating I might think otherwise.

One of the side effects of Caitlin Clark joining the WNBA has been on X / twitter.

Every time her Indiana team plays the WNBA and her team trend on X / twitter

I’ve been on twitter for a while and I don’t remember seeing the WNBA trending before, now it trends every few days.

Still not breaking even though, at least not yet.

Last week’s Doctor Who was one of the best of the season in terms of writing and plot. A real barn burner of an episode.

Which makes it such a shame that so few people saw it as Doctor Who is setting records for the lowest viewership in its history.

Davies has tried to bring back classic villains and classic characters to bring old fans home, however he also gave us the previous week’s episode Rogue which was described by my son who watched it as “below the level of the Chibnall years” as it seemed the only point of the episode was to generate a gay make out scene that Davies wanted to have with Capt. Jack but didn’t do before.

I skipped that one myself as I don’t watch shows with guys making out.

Bottom line when you tell established fans to get lost that you don’t want them, they tend to grant your wish and the Disney+ money won’t last forever.

There are a lot of sad stories from the war against Hamas but one of the saddest is this one:

The sad thing here is that it took her being taken hostage to believe what has been plain to many of us for decades. The Palestinians wants Jews dead and no amount

Reality never cares what your beliefs are

Finally the “Just stop Oil” crowd decided that damaging Stonehenge was an appropriate action for their group and it appears that they might have actually crossed a line red enough to generate real punishment for their crimes.

I have a simple suggestion myself, if they are so dedicated to forcing people back to the 18th century sentence them to an 18th century prison.

No Electricity, no plastics, no internet of course, no modern toilets, no pesticides to keep out vermin, hot in summer, freezing in winter with only whatever they can set afire for heat.

Give them the life they desire for others, then go after the backers who have paid for all this nonsense.

Until there are consequence it won’t stop.
