The nastiest example

Back in our lets talk porn post I loudly pointed out the following:

Once you are on the net you are on it forever so be very careful what you decide do to in front of a camera or anywhere near a cellphone camera.

You ignore this warning at your own risk.

Well at right wing news we see the nasty example of this kind of thing

it’s not an unusual occurrence. I have probably had friends/acquaintances of mine show me naked pics of their ex-girlfriends at least a dozen times — and I don’t think that’s unusual. As a general rule, you don’t even have to ask. They want to show them to you, to pay their girlfriend back for whatever slight they feel like they’ve suffered at her hands during the break-up.

Moreover, although I can’t go into detail for obvious reasons, I have had female friends of mine tell me all sorts of horror stories about naked pics — quasi-blackmail attempts, having the photos intentionally or accidentally leaked out on the web — it goes on and on.

So, let me just give all the women out there the exact same advice publicly that I would give them privately: do not let your boyfriends take naked pictures of you or the time may come when you regret it.

And the story that prompted this advice ended in the suicide of an 18 year old girl.

So keep this in mind. You don’t have the luxury of being an idiot in private that your parents and grandparents did. Drill it into your head. And if you do something stupid, remember it is still just something stupid, it isn’t something worth doing something even stupider over.

The Wife came up with error 5a when trying to print on our Brother mfc- 665cw today. This can be a critical problem but not necessarily so. Try these things before you take it for service:

1. Check for any paper jams:

Since the issue is usually a sensor issue a bad jam can mess up the lens, make sure it is clear.

2. Clear the print queue:

You should always clear the print queue when you have any kind of issue to make sure any tests are done in a clean environment.

3. Power down the machine:

Unplug and replug the device. Give it 10 seconds in between.

This might do the trick and save you a few bucks. Give it a shot first and see what happens.

Oh and don’t forget I do offer a full line of tech services. Just click here or e-mail me at datechguy- AT**- comcast- dot- net without any of the dashes or stars.

Keeping with the spirit of the bill

As you know I don’t think much of the stimulus bill, I think a lot of it is pretty much a scam on the American taxpayer done by the current government.

Much to nobody’s surprise entrepreneurs are now using it for their own private scams:

Now, consumer advocates are warning that scam artists hoping to fill their own pockets are using e-mail messages and Internet ads that say they can help people access a share of the stimulus money for as little as $1.99 upfront.

The cheap offers – which require hopeful buyers to provide credit card information and other identifying details – could turn into cases of identity theft or monthly fees sometimes defined in the ads’ fine print. Some e-mail offers say recipients have already earned a grant, but bank account information is needed to deposit the award.

These scams follow the pattern of most online scams, offering money etc for either a small fee or for bank information. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t give up your information to scams like this. If it sounds too good to be true it likely is.

this is why.

Oh and when they say that less that .05% of documents are affected think of it this way.

Worldwide how many users do you think there are of the free google document stuff, 1 million, 5 million? 10 Million? More?

Lets say each of those people have 50-100 documents. that is between 50 million and one billion documents. That works out to between 25 thousand and half a million documents. A mere pittance!
