On tomorrow’s DaTechGuy on DaRadio (10 a.m. to noon ) on AM 830 WCRN Jazz Shaw is going to be our guest in the first hour. The Big topics will of course be events in Wisconsin and Tripoli but I think I’ll want to touch a bit about this piece on RNC chair Priebus.

Yes. Well… very nearly. And if you think that’s a bad thing, I’ve got a bridge to sell you. Priebus is doing precisely what an RNC chair is supposed to be doing. He’s mending fences, bringing the big dollar donors back to the fold, raising money and quietly organizing his forces for the next cycle.

Your chairman should be an invisible man and so far Priebus has been that. Now of course with events in Egypt, Tripoli and Wisconsin and Gas prices, Food Prices etc there isn’t a lot of reason for him to be noticed but that’s the whole point.

In our second hour joining Jazz and Roxeanne will be will be joined by Sissy Willis as we go though the week’s issues.

Make sure you catch Me and the entire WCRN Saturday lineup starting at 6 a.m. With the Wesley and Weston review, Conservatively Speaking at 7, and Carole Ann Brown at 9 and I’ll be bringing us to noon starting at 10. Don’t miss it.

Update: Roxeanne can’t make it, there goes the 18-34 young men demographic, Sissy is cute but Roxeanne is single!

And you thought Jody Foster had a crush problem:

“I am falling in love with her… She is goregeous that I cann’t forget her just right away”

Apparently our arrested terrorist had a crush on an American girl and Eric Dondero has been doing some digging and asks if rejection drove him finally over the terror edge? PJ Tattler found his facebook page and has continued to dig. Stacy McCain being the expert in digging notes that the narrative on his blog/facebook don’t seem to fit details of the story:

The government’s accusation that Aldawsari turn to terrorism contrasts sharply with his earlier blog entries. As Preston notes at PJM, Aldawsari wrote:

This is an opportunity to be in the US to achieve my dream that I am working very hard and I am doing my best to catch it, that dream is mainly and simply to be an employee in google which is not impossible to achieve even if it is hard…

So he went from wanting to work for Google to wanting to kill President Bush? Or was his blog (part in English, part in Arabic) part of an elaborate ruse to hide his actual intent?

All of this is very early, but I suspect that the media being the media they will be steering more toward the love unrequited bit vs the Radical Islam angle. After all we know Islam is a religion of peace.

I thought that politics in Massachusetts was Byzantine, then I read this piece by Ladd Ehlinger Jr. on the special election in the 36th. A sample:

They are professional politicos, and make their living off both sides of the aisle. Ordinarily they screw things up for local constituencies in California, but they’ve got their beady eyes turned to the 36th district, too.

As you may know, Ron Nehring was (supposedly) the California Republican Party fifth columnist Chairman last year. He helped lead the Republicans to utter defeat and shame in California in 2010, with help from the Willie-Brown run database PDI.

Databases are crucial to running campaigns. Voter outreach and communications are key. You want your information to be good, and you don’t want your opposition finding out who your volunteers are, or even what sort of queries you are running on the database. So naturally, you wouldn’t want your database to be run by Willie Brown political hacks, the very people who want you defeated. Unless, of course, you are Ron Nehring.

No, if you’re Ron, instead you work with Meg Whitman to force as many local, state and federal Republican candidates in November 2010 to use the opposition’s database, so you can be damned sure everyone gets lost in the fog of war and is defeated.

Thanks Ron! You’re a true chum to liberty.

Read the whole thing to try to untie the knot that is California.

…as a friend of mine needed a favor, but the Sentinel and Enterprise was there as was my state rep Steve DiNatale

“Unitil has consistently had the highest electric and gas rates in the state and nation over the years,” state Rep. Stephen DiNatale said during the nighttime public hearing at the Memorial Middle School auditorium. “They have a stranglehold on their customers. They are understaffed and they have lacked in making the necessary upgrades to their infrastructure over the years. Rates should be lowered, not raised. They have become an obstacle to this region’s economic growth.”

As a person who has gone door to door to business though Fitchburg over the last three months I can tell you that is true in spades.

Even more interesting was what Unitil actually said they were going to do to make the rate hike easier for users:

“The company proposes to offset the rate impact of its proposed electric distribution revenue increase by a reduction in its current transition charge. Under the company’s proposal the transition charge recovery would be deferred and collected from its customers at a later date with interest emphasis mine.

Run those sentences through your head for a second. The charges are deferred, meaning you will pay them later with interest. This sounds like one of those ambush mortgages, starts with a low rate than hits you with the full charge and interest.

Many business’ in Fitchburg are just hanging on and city counselor Joel Kaddy put it well:

“In this economy, at the end of the week, I worry about paying my employees, and not making a profit,” Kaddy said. “I don’t know if I can take any more increases, and if I can’t there will be 17 people out of work. … This system just seems extremely unfair. How did it get to the point where we don’t have a choice, but to pay what they say? Something doesn’t add up, and Unitil should be ashamed of themselves. They are really going to hurt this community.”

Considering all that is going on I wouldn’t be surprised if this is denied. The state government is not popular and this is an easy “gimme” for the company. On the other hand the towns impacted were not strong supporters of the administration.

One thing is sure, left or right, red or blue the city is united against these increases and the anger they will produce if passed will be totally bi-partisan.
