You’re gonna have a bad time

Seriously.

Somehow I missed this lovely picture from the beginning of the new year:

US Navy Photograph

If that looks bad to you, its because it is. That is absolutely terrible rust. Rust is a fact of life on a metal ship in a salty ocean…

Except that’s not true. Or it certainly doesn’t have to be. The Navy would like you to think that its all about lazy Commanding Officers and deck plate Sailors, and if they’d just try they could find time between their mandated diversity training and extremism training to scrub the decks a bit more and eliminate this problem. Am I exaggerating? Nope. Go read it off the official “Get Real, Get Better” page. The opening says it all:

Get Real, Get Better is a call to action for every Navy leader to apply a set of Navy-proven leadership and problem solving best practices that empower our people to achieve exceptional performance.

From Navy announcement on 13 Oct 2022

That right there is the problem. The Navy is pretending that its “proven” leadership style still works. It doesn’t.

Think about it for just a minute. Does it make sense that any Commanding Officer of a Navy destroyer, or any other ship, wants a rusty ship? That doesn’t make a lick of sense. What makes more sense is that they get forced into the position of not having enough time or resources to stop the rust they have. When ships and crews get run into the ground doing routine operations, and shipyards are incapable of doing anything on time or on budget (and face no consequences for doing so), guess what? Something has to give.

What might make sense is to use some technology to give Sailor’s time back. In industry, specialized coatings like Nano-Clear keep commercial vessels clear of rust for significantly longer periods of time. Heck, even the Army, which does operate some ships, uses them, as shown on Strategic Visionary Solutions’ website:

Nano-clear guarantees their product for 10 years. Even if the Navy got half of that, how many thousands of man-hours would be saved? How many Sailors would enjoy not using a needle gun to chisel of rust and paint?

I mean seriously, does this look like what you joined the Navy for? From navy.mil

How does the Army get this and the Navy doesn’t? Are we surprised when people don’t want to join?

And then when we shame people into replying, we get this:

No acknowledgement of how hard the crew worked. Just a mild threat of holding them accountable.

And we’re surprised we’re in a recruiting crisis? Why?

This post represents the views of the author and not those of the Department of Defense, Department of the Navy, or any other government agency, because those people want to do more of the same and obviously the author does not.

In Tyrie Nichols the MSM/Left has finally found a case of black on black violence that they find newsworthy enough to publicly disapprove of

There are a lot of fine blogs and substack accounts out there worth making a free or cash subscription to, (I humbly suggest considering mine as I have writers to pay) but the best case I’ve seen made by someone to hit the button lately has come from Don Surber this morning with his spectacular piece on the better of the John Kennedys who served in the Senate:

  • “You will never win—never—the uber-woke sweepstakes. I understand that the pressure to run that race is fierce. You will never win it. Nothing you do will ever be enough. The uber-woke people in positions of power in this town think America was evil when it was founded and it’s even more evil today. You’re not going to convince them otherwise.”

He spoke that truth to power at a hearing on September 22, 2017, to Charles W. Scharf of Wells Fargo & Company, Brian Thomas Moynihan of Bank of America, Jamie Dimon of JPMorgan Chase & Co., Jane Fraser of Citigroup, William H. Rogers Jr. of Truist Financial Corporation, Andy Cecere of U.S. Bancorp and William S. Demchak of PNC Financial Services Group.

If that line alone doesn’t get you loving Senator Kennedy nothing will and if this piece doesn’t get you to subscribe to Mr. Surber’s substack nothing will

This week Project Veritas put out what was likely the single most important video it ever did, catching a Pfizer exec going on about mutating the COVID etc. It’s the type of expose that can change the narrative.

Within two days Youtube banned the video and gave him a strike. It “violated their guidelines” not because it was false, but because it was true.

This is going to cost people their lives.

One must under the rules of Christianity love your enemies but as Youtube is a corporation and not a person I don’t think I’m violating rules by awaiting the day of the company’s fall with some anticipation.

Remember once upon a time AOL ruled the roost too.

Went to the local comic store today to pick up Groo and Usagi Yojimbo. The only two comics I still read new. Their creators eighty five year old Sergio Argones (Groo) and sixty nine year old Stan Sakai (Usagi) have been doing their respective two comics for over 45 years (Sakai actually got his start lettering Groo and still does). I don’t go there much as there is a large sign on the door nothing CDC mask recommendations and suggesting people wear them (when I went yesterday nobody had one on) which turns me off but there was one thing worth noting.

Back in the 1980’s when I owned a comic store there were a couple of reprint series out there (Marvel Tales immediately comes to mind) but today it seems every third comic featured is a reprint of a comic from the 60’s or 80’s or 90’s.

Comic stores have apparently figured out they need something other than woke to sustain a business.

Still highly recommend both Groo & Usagi

Finally Yesterday I was watching an old Cary Grant Movie Father Goose (1964) a comedy about a drunken coast watcher who gets stuck with a 30 something year old woman and a bunch of kids from a girls school.

It’s a quaint movie but I don’t recommend watching it right after watched Mark Felton’s audio about the treatment of captive women by the Japanese in World War 2.

The movie gets very serious when you consider what happens if they’re caught.

Mike Pence Lifeline is Biden not the Dems

Posted: January 27, 2023 by datechguy in Uncategorized

When the Joe Biden Classified documents scandal starting to gain legs I said this:

It may be that the reason this is coming out at all is that the deep state / Obama administration has decided they don’t want Biden in 2024 as the Democrat candidate so they intend to slowly leak stuff like this out until they can convince enough Democrats that he is no longer remains a viable candidate.

and this:

The only thing Joe Biden is really skilled at besides collecting his 10% is going after his enemies so if you are the left and want Biden to go quietly into the sunset you need something like this to get it done.

It seemed that all the media was going out against him, that the word was out that it was open season on Biden and once January 20th had come and Harris was now eligible to be elected twice if he went, it was time to push him out.

Then came the Mike Pence story and suddenly the narrative shifted and the word was Pence had just given Biden a lifeline:

Because of Pence’s stupidity, the narrative will shift to blaming the system in order to excuse Biden’s criminality. This was the lifeline the president needed.”

The author linked by Insty is quite right that this is a lifeline to Biden, but it’s not a lifeline for Democrats in 2024.

You see if they could push Biden out without a primary you could go with Newsom or Harris or anyone else and not only deflect the blame for all that has gone wrong in the last four years but it removes the potential rematch with two records side by side which might produce a result beyond the margin of theft.

But as I noted the one thing Joe Biden is good at is attacking and survival and Pence’s move while a lifeline to Biden also translates into an anchor around the neck of the Democrat party for 2024.

Closing thought, if you want to see a lifeline for Democrats here is the real one

While actually celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s most tragic decision, Roe versus Wade, Kamala Harris massacred the Declaration of Independence in a rather callous and portentous manner.  This article contains a transcript of her contemptible word salad.

We are here together because we collectively believe and know, America is a promise, America is a promise—it is a promise of freedom and liberty. Not for some, but for all. A promise that we made in the Declaration of Independence that we are each endowed with the right to liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Kamala Harris committed several egregious factual and philosophical errors with that one utterance, the most contemptible being her omission of life as one the Unalienable Rights listed in that passage of the Declaration of Independence.

Progressives, and the rest of their collectivist cousins, place little stock in the value of individual lives.  Their religious devotion to abortion is proof of this.  Abortion is the murder of the most innocent and helpless individuals.

Leftists, such as American Progressives, have always treated certain classes of individuals as less than human.  These include Jews during the Holocaust, the slaves here in the United States, Ukrainians under the old Soviet Union in the 1930s, and the unborn.

Kamala Harris also neglected to inform us who endowed each and every individual with unalienable rights.  Leftists mistakenly believe that rights are granted by governments, because of this Democrats bestow ‘rights’ on their favored groups.  Because God directly endows each and every individual with their rights, it is a grave injustice when governments interfere with the rights of any individual.

The final mistake Kamala Harris made in her short statement occurred when she used the phrase “we collectively believe.”  She is gravely mistaken in the use of this language because Americans do not collectively do anything.  The United States was built upon individualism, not collectivism.
