The actual sticker

…it is that a Write-in / Sticker campaign for Jim McKenna to get on the ballot so Martha Coakley would not be unopposed succeeded and he will be on the ballot this fall.

The state republican party did not run a candidate to oppose her, in a year like this it is in excusable.

James did this through tea party after tea party and managed to win the day.

Run this though your head. Sticker campaigns are notoriously difficult, a Republican one even doubly so.

Yet the headline on James campaign site is WE DID IT!

Those on the left and in the media who are trying to convince themselves that last night was a good sign for them in November…

..be afraid, be VERY afraid!

My latest for Examiner.com deals with the idea of non career politicians running for office this year, a snippet:

He (Keith Lepor) mentioned how one of the hosts at WTKK 96.9 Michelle McPhee scolded him saying that he had not “done his time” in the legislature or the school committee or local politics, he didn’t climb the ladder that takes you to the halls of congress.

It looks like Michelle is going to be very disappointed this year. Over and over I have met people whose background has nothing to do with politics.

Expect to see more of this beyond ma-9 and Nc-2 as the professional political class gets challenged.

You can find out more about Keith Lepor and Renee Ellmers at their respective sites. Both are very worthy of your support.

Update: Much to my surprise Keith lost his primary oh well.

For the second time in one day I take exception to something Allahpundit says:

Let’s look at that exit question again:

Exit question for O’Donnell supporters: Assuming she wins tonight and falls, say, 10 points behind Coons, how long should the NRSC funnel money into Delaware for her knowing that dollars lost there can be spent on other races nationwide? To the bitter end, right?

Tell me what was the maximum number of points Scott Brown was down here in Massachusetts? At what point should we have just given up? Where would we be today if we did? Doesn’t anyone remember the political climate just 18 months ago?

When will some conservatives understand that winning involves hard work and persuasion, not just putting a finger to the wind and hoping to catch the breeze.

Sticking a finger in the eye of the tea party guarantees a fight for the soul of the party in 2012 and if the tea party loses that fight there will be a 3rd party and the republicans will not only be done but deserve to be done. This is what I’ve gotten from every tea party supporter I’ve talked to and I talked to hundreds from dozens of states.

Understand this, conservatives don’t support republicans because they love the letter R, they support republicans because they want conservative values to be advanced. if the republicans are unwilling to do this, or if conservatives are unwilling to fight for them, why are you even bothering?

Guys a chance like this comes maybe once every other generation, lets not blow it.

Update: Gateway pundit quotes Rush (without whom republican majorities are a pipe dream)

Rush Limbaugh was right… “They would prefer to have somebody like Mike Castle elected, who is not even as good as McCain. What good is that going to do the conservative movement?”
If only they fought this hard and nasty against the Obama-Pelosi regime.

Guys if you want to know why the national party’s coffers are empty, this is why.

Lots of interesting races but for me there are three that stand out for me.

Kamal Jain at the Twin City Tea Party March 2010

Two of them are statewide: State Auditor features two spectacular candidates Mary Z. Connaughton and Kamal Jain are both seeking the auditor’s office. Mary has the experience as a CPA, Kamal has some spectacular ideas and experience as an efficiency expert. I will be happy with either candidate picking one is going to be the toughest vote I’ve ever cast. I keep going back and forth and I likely won’t make a final decision until I get into the booth. (Whoever loses this race needs to run for another office in 2012 so I can vote for them)

Mary Connaughton in Framingham August 2010

For Attorney General Guy Carbone and James McKenna are both running Sticker campaigns. Again both are more than acceptable. Carbone is paisan, his story is the story of my family, his patron saint is the patron of my church (St. Anthony di Padua) and his positions sync with mine, James McKenna is not paisan, I have no idea of his family background, but our positions also sync, I have some familiarity with his work as a prosecutor and his work with ethics and he will get my vote today.

There are also contested primaries in the congressional races for the 5th, 3rd and 10th districts, most of the action is on the GOP side.

The other race that interests me in on the Democratic side and is local. For Worcester County Sheriff you have Tom Foley vs Scott Bove. Massachusetts is one of the few states where the Sheriff’s office is not very powerful. Foley has a long experience in law enforcement but Bove has 20 years at the prison itself as a Co. Since the primary duty is to run the prison Foley has to have my nod.

Scott Bove (D) for Sheriff

These races won’t get the press that Christine O’Donnell vs Mike Castle is getting in Delaware but the names in these small races often are where future reps, governors, and congressmen come from. The Mass GOP is building up its farm system and will be ready to play hardball in 2012.
