After four days of Pinball it’s time to catch up on a few things:

The Iranian attack on Israel took place while I was at Pintastic. There was an excellent graphic showing where the various missiles and drones came from. I think it quite significant that none came from Lebanon.

Why? Lebanon is in range of an Israeli invasion and can do so without having to cross any other border.

Do you think Iran would have dared to attack if an Israeli army could reach them directly?

The supporters of Iran were busy shutting down airports and bridges around the country, however in Florida thing went a bit differently:

Ron DeSantis had something to say about this as well:

I don’t like heat and I don’t like bugs but I must say Florida is looking better and better as a place to live

The President of Columbia University and their board testified today on antisemitism on campus.

When asked under oath if a professor who praised the attack of Oct 7th was on a particular committee she claimed: “he is no longer a chair of that Committee.”

Yet a few minutes later:

Mafiosi dream to be as feared by their prey as these college presidents are of these supporters of terror.

There are a lot of fears that the left has with this upcoming election, the bad economy, the border crisis, the protestors blocking bridges, but if I had to pick one thing that scares them the most, it would be this:

The Bodega and Small Business Group (BSBG), which represents thousands of bodegas in New York City, has issued a statement backing President Donald J. Trump, slamming local District Attorney Alvin Bragg, and hitting out at local politicians who have ignored the widespread criminality occurring in the city.

“The Bodega and Small Business Group (BSBG)… is honored to host President Donald J. Trump at the Blue Moon bodega in Manhattan where Jose Alba was arrested for simply defending himself and his business against a convicted felon, the statement began.

If the left thought for one moment that the Spanish speaking community was starting to lean Trump the border would be sealed tighter than a drum.

Right now a case is being argued at the Supreme Court that will have a huge impact on many of the J6 defendants.

The question of selective prosecution came up and Justice Gorsuch make short work of US Solicitor Elizabeth Prelogar

The funny thing is none of those examples listed by Justice Gorsuch were hypothetical. All of them where things the left have actually done.

I’m hoping that in ten years we will look back at these days in Amazement and ask ourselves how we ever let this happen?

…alas this is reality in the west in 2024:

This is an example of actual “islamophobia” that exists is among governments like England and colleges in the US who are terrified that if they stand up to those who support the mass murder of Jews, people that they’ve lionized and protected as “oppressed” they would face violence themselves from those very same people.

It’s is that fear that illustrates they know the actual reality and are too cowed to deal with it.

As a person who enjoys the study of history it’s rather fascinating to watch a society decaying and falling due to suicide which is the cause of the fall of every republic in history.

It’s in fact a lot less interesting when you are watching it happen while living within it.

Both Glenn Reynolds:

COMMUNISTS ALWAYS RUN OUT OF OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY: AOC-affiliated Democratic Socialists of America in ‘financial crisis.’ “The seven-figure deficit comes after the DSA, which leads anti-Israel protests across the country, did not publicly condemn the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attacks.”

And Stacy McCain:

What? You’re telling me that socialists are not good at managing finances and budgets? I’m shocked — shocked! — by this revelation:

Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) are facing an internal bloodbath as they beg staff members to volunteer to lose their jobs amid a funding crisis.

Note the decline in revenues for the Democrat Socialists of America. Stacy’s link notes interesting quotes from the piece:

The DSA said they “should be thriving,” but they instead are seeing a “decline in revenue, membership, and overall excitement.”
“We’re living in a moment when revived labor struggles and the fight for a free Palestine are galvanizing so many Americans,” the organization said, adding it’s “treading water” and things will continue to be tough.

They seem to not grasp the connection between a sudden decline in revenue and their support for the October 7th attacks and the connected campaign of intimidation of Jews on expensive college campus’ nationwide. ln one respect it’s reasonable that they believed this when you consider recent history:

They pledged allyship to other groups in their tent, not to Judaism or Israel. This was evident in 2019 when daily attacks began on Orthodox Jews in Brooklyn. Activist synagogues in places like Park Slope, which would have been at the forefront of marches had any other group come under attack, spent years staying silent about it. The attackers, often caught on video, were frequently other minorities, not MAGA hat-wearing white people as they would have hoped, so it was awkward to raise a fuss. Progressive politics was the code they followed, and Judaism was an identity umbrella like all the others in their movement. “As a Jew …” they would begin their lectures. As a Jew, they were rarely interested in Judaism.

After all if daily attacks on Jews in Brooklyn didn’t chase away the funds from “reform” or “conservative” Jews why should support for Oct 7th make a difference when it’s time for the Jewish parents of those kids to write a check? After all wasn’t leftism their true religion?

For many liberal Jews, it was hard to ignore that it wasn’t the boogeyman white supremacists that they had been warned about their entire lives. No, it was their professors, their co-workers at the nonprofit, friends of their college-aged kids calling for an end to Israel and celebrating the murder of Jews. And these hateful marches were not happening in rural Alabama, in the places they were taught to fear, but mainly in the bluest of blue cities.

The political bedfellows they had slept beside were sharply opposed to Israel doing anything but simply accepting the attacks of Oct. 7.

By Oct. 8, their “allies” had already taken to the streets, some in grotesque glee over the slaughter of Jews in their homes, others tearing down posters of kidnapped children, to say Israel should just sit down and take it.

In fact their difficulty in accepting the reality of who their actual friends are is perfectly encapsulated in this tweet:

Realty hasn’t hit the monied liberal community hard enough for them to support Donald Trump, the man who actually moved the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem after presidents had promised to for decades and never did, the man who pushed the Abraham accords. That, for now at least, is a bridge too far as it risks a final split from the media left.

It does seem however that reality has hit them hard enough that they’ve apparently decided not to fund the people who want to see them dead.

It’s a start.

One of the things that amazes me is how many folks are shocked SHOCKED at the “sudden increase” in antisemitism.

This surprise betrays one of the more basic facts of life.

To wit, consider the world in the 1930’s. There were plenty of people who thought what the Nazi were doing was a great idea. They held how they were running their country in general and how they treated the Jews in particular as a template others should follow.

In fact the supposedly anti-fascist left which took pride in fighting on the communist side during the Spanish Civil war suddenly did an about face as soon as the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact was signed in 1939 and the Germans took Half of Poland and the Soviets took the other half along with the Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) they were all in on defending Germany and keeping the US out of the war in Europe, right up until the Nazi’s invaded the Soviet Union and voilà, suddenly the Nazi menace had to be stopped by war.

Of course once the war began the people who had supported the Nazi’s didn’t suddenly change their minds, they either shut up and supported the war or found themselves interned just like the Japanese, only without the sympathy that history has granted them.

It’s no different than the 70’s and 80’s. All during those years when I was at school, high school and college there were very public intellectuals who were all in with the Soviet Union, with the system of communism and predicted that capitalism was flawed and would fall, right up to the day that the Soviet Union collapsed. It was amazing how many people who didn’t consider the Soviets an “Evil Empire” suddenly decided it was once it was gone. Suddenly it was passé and everybody KNEW that the Soviets were bad.

This is pretty much what is happening now.

The Jew haters out there have always been out there, it’s just post World War 2 and Post death camps it wasn’t considered socially, morally or legally acceptable to be a Jew hater in public. Suddenly there was a social and legal cost to discriminate against and publicly hate on Jews.

However the world war 2 generation is now if not completely dead in their late 90’s and 100’s and are no longer a factor. Furthermore the generations who followed them has embraced birth control sterilization, abortion and even the castration of their own kids while the Arab world whose hatred of the Jews goes far back and far beyond the creation of the state of Israel and been fruitful and multiplied.

Combine that with those who never stopped hating the Jews who suddenly sense that those who might object no longer have either the will or the moral courage to act and POOF here comes open antisemitism on a grand scale.

Bottom line, the west abandoned it’s moral compass and thus there is no longer a moral or social cost for hating Jews in general and the west in particular.  Combine that with a loss of the will to enforce the laws that might bring legal costs to illegal acts done in the name of Hating Jews and those who have waited three quarters of a century to publicly vent their hatred of the Jews and the west where they have succeeded can let their freak flags fly.

And those flags will fly until the cost of flying them is higher than the freaks are willing to pay and every day that we delay in enforcing those costs it will become geometrically harder to do so.
