This plays to Mitt (Obamacare Massachusetts style) Romney. I’d say it has his name written all over it. In my opinion the Washington establishment so despises Palin that they would gladly push Romney to avoid a chance of a Palin victory in 2012.

They also are aware that Romney’s stint as Governor in Massachusetts was without any real achievement, and furthermore didn’t involve standing for any principle even remotely conservative. (Of course compared to those who ran against or followed him he was practically a Reaganite.) They understand his legacy is Obamacare lite, and a Romney presidency will be a republican version of business as usual.

They can handle that after all with apologies to Grover Cleveland; A republican insider is just as indifferent to the people as democratic one.

One good idea among the payoffs

I was looking at Michelle Malkin’s list of payoffs in the Senate Healthcare bill. It’s a list that doesn’t inspire confidence, however there is one gem hidden in the manure. Who knew it would be from the socialist in the place?

The $10 billion, added at Sanders’ request, would also ensure there would be medical professionals to provide primary care by expanding the National Health Service Corps by an additional 20,000 slots. Doctors, dentists, nurses and other medical professionals who agree to work in areas where there are limited medical services get help paying off their school loans.

This is exactly what I was talking about in my post about containing healthcare costs.

Does it make this bill worthwhile? Of course not. But of all the things there are to hit over this bill, this one piece isn’t an issue for me.

He must be familar with her briefs and vice versa…

I mean the jokes just write themselves don’t they:

Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus’ office confirmed late Friday night that the Montana Democrat was carrying on an affair with his state office director, Melodee Hanes, when he nominated her to be U.S. attorney in Montana.

According to a source familiar with their relationship, Hanes and Baucus began their relationship in the summer of 2008 – nearly a year before Baucus and his wife, Wanda, divorced in April 2009. The Senator had informally separated from his wife in March 2008 and they were living apart when he began dating Hanes, according to Baucus’ office.

I wonder if this is going to be used to pressure him one way or the other on the healthcare bill…

…Actually I don’t wonder at all.

All you need is an attractive photo of same and we could have saved this for Rule 5 tomorrow.

His statement on tactics is quite correct, but is frankly irrelevant.

I’m not a big fan about whining about the timing of a revelation of corruption, if one acted ethically then it isn’t a problem. To complain about the timing of this stuff is to my mind no different than Then Barbara Boxer about e-mail theft because of the climategate scandal.

It’s like the stupid laws about accepting dinners. An honest man is not going to sell his vote for dinner and a dishonest man is not going to be stopped by such a law, he will find a way around it.

Update 2: Robert Stacy links to me and Instapundit links to him however as people are for reasons unknown bothering to have a life today I haven’t seen any kind of increase in traffic. However for those who are counting that makes instalance number 12 for The Other McCain since the last one that LGF enjoyed.

That is a rate of one a week. A higher regular rate than Charles enjoyed in his day.
