In a speech delivered on 15 November 1867, Fredrick Douglass most famously said:
“A man’s rights rest in three boxes: The ballot box, jury box and the cartridge box. Let no man be kept from the ballot box because of his color. Let no woman be kept from the ballot box because of her sex”.
I would add the soap box to this most essential list of boxes where man’s rights rest. All four of these have been under direct and relentless assault by the Democrats, who are the political left here in the United States, for the past several decades. This assault has intensified over the past several of years to the point that these four most essential boxes have been almost entirely stripped away from those of us on the political right.
The assault on the ballot box seemed complete with the theft of the Presidential election from Trump in 2020. Just this week the Democrats ratcheted this up to a level I never dreamed possible with the federal indictment of President Trump on extremely phony classified document charges, This is a tremendously transparent effort to keep President Trump off of the 2024 Republican ballot.
Phony charges issued by the Deep State is a direct assault on the Jury Box. This box also has been under assault by the political left for a couple of decades, George Soros led a successful campaign to make sure State Attorneys General were populated almost exclusively by hardcore leftists The same holds true of district attorneys,
Thanks to political correctness and the war on disinformation, the soap box has been a favorite target of the political left for decades. The soap box has not been completely destroyed. This is thanks to the tireless work of free speech warriors.
The cartridge box is another box that has been under constant assault by the left. Thanks to the Second Amendment and the constant work of patriots, control of this box still remains firmly in hands of those of us on the Right, This is the most important of all three boxes because it protects the other three.
With the near total victory of the left when it comes to the ballot box, jury box, and soap box, I am increasingly worried that those of on the political right will one day soon be left with only the cartridge box. This week’s indictment of President Trump is a dangerous step along that path.
The political left are a rather tyrannical lot. Their primary function in life is to force everyone else to follow their warped and twisted world view. Their preferred mode of operation is to infect all levels of government with their ideology, then use government force to coerce everyone else to follow their madness.
Transgenderism is the most perfect example of this. Progressives have been using government coercion to try and ensure everyone in the United States plays along with this mass psychosis.
It is bad enough when progressives cram this ideology down the throats of ordinary Americans. It is absolutely unconscionable when they force religious institutions to comply because that would be a very direct violation of the Free Exercise of Religion Clause of the First Amendment.
In one of his first official acts in the Oval Office, Biden signed an executive order that redefined the terms “sex,” “sexual orientation” and “gender identity.”
Three weeks later, Biden’s Department of Housing and Urban Development issued new rules requiring schools to open their women’s dormitories — showers and all — to men who “identify” as women.
No exemptions were allowed, even for religious institutions.
The colleges justification for fighting back was right on point.
The Christian college, located in Point Lookout, Missouri, filed a lawsuit against Biden and his administration, arguing that the historical interpretation of the Fair Housing Act confirms that “sex” means biological sex.
The college also argued that not only does the Biden executive order violate the school’s constitutional right to “operate consistently with their religious beliefs,” but also that there should have been a public notice and comment period before such a drastic change was made.
This next quote proves just how far from the original meaning of the Constitution the entire federal court system has shifted.
In September, a three-judge panel from the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed the case and denied a petition for the matter to be heard by the full court.
College of the Ozarks and its law firm, Alliance Defending Freedom, responded in February by asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review the case.
This next paragraph fills me with hope.
Recognizing the high stakes involved in the case, a number of other Christian colleges have submitted friend-of-the-court briefs supporting the suit brought by the College of the Ozarks. Nineteen states and numerous advocacy groups have done likewise.
Michael: You have to answer for Santino, Carlo. You fingered Sonny for the Barzini people.
Carlo Rizzi:Mike, you got it all wrong.
Michael:Ah, that little farce you played with my sister. You think that would fool a Corleone? Carlo Rizzi: Mike, I’m innocent. I swear on the kids.
Michael:Sit down.
Carlo Rizzi:Please don’t do this to me, Mike. Please don’t.
Michael:Barzini is dead. So is Phillip Tattaglia. Moe Greene. Stracci. Cuneo. Today I settled all family business so don’t tell me that you’re innocent. Admit what you did. Get him a drink. Don’t be afraid, Carlo. Come on, you think I’d make my sister a widow? I’m Godfather to your son. [Carlo gets handed a drink] Go ahead. Drink. Drink. No, you’re out of the family business, that’s your punishment. You’re finished. I’m putting you on a plane to Vegas. Tom? [takes plane ticket] I want you to stay there, you understand? Only don’t tell me that you’re innocent. Because it insults my intelligence
The Godfather 1972
That scene above is the first thought that came to my mind when I read Andrew Sullivan’s piece about Transgenderism going to far and hurting the gay movement. His attempt to pretend that his campaigning to redefine the thousands of year old definition of marriage for his own edification and self justification did not lead to the consequences that all of us were warning about twenty years ago insults me.
At best it’s delusional and at worst it’s self serving, all about distancing himself from the destruction this has does to society in just a single generation.
Did he REALLY think that have no consequences, Did he really think that “marriage” would be the only word redefined by his leftist allies? To wit:
The Human Rights Campaign, once a relatively moderate group, replaced “gay” and “lesbian” with the acronym “LGBTQ+” and expanded the word “queer” to describe anyone gay, lesbian, transgender, or even straight who defied heteronormativity. They changed the flag from a simple rainbow, to one that included some races (only black and brown — no Asians or whites) and transgender ideology. Their building in DC is festooned with a massive banner declaring their mission: “Black Lives Matter, Black Trans Lives Matter.” Their new head is a woman who calls herself “queer,” not lesbian.
Then they quietly changed the meaning of the word “gay” so that it no longer referred to same-sex attraction, but to same-gender attraction; and changed the word “men” to include people with vaginas and uteruses, and the word “women” to include people with dicks and balls. Checkmate for the gays! We are all now just bigots with “genital preferences,” just like the Christianist right used to claim. Just to add to the confusion, hundreds of new “genders” were adopted — because some teens on Tumblr once invented them and queer theorists loved them.
Notice again the use of the made up word “Christianist” as if the idea of following Christ and the teaching of the church that have been constant on this stuff for 2000 years is some sort of ideology.
It gets even funnier as he’s shocked, SHOCKED that fantasy ideal world he thought he would make for himself by redefining marriage would leave him and those like him unaffected.
Gay hook-up apps now include biological women seeking gay men and straight men looking for chicks with dicks. “NO MEN” some profiles now say — on what was once a gay man’s app. There are fewer and fewerexclusively gay male spaces left. Lesbian bars? Almost gone entirely. Lesbians themselves? On their way out. Dylan Mulvaney is exemplary of the new queer order: a femme gay man who had to take female hormones to stay relevant. (Compare and contrast with disco icon Sylvester’s view of gay liberation: “I could be the queen that I really was without having a sex change or being on hormones.” We are going backward, not forward.)
Of course we saw the slippery slope and endured the cry of “bigot” to give that warning that what is now happening would happen and worse, but we were to be ignored at best and attacked as worst . And then comes the biggest lie of all:
Then the queers upped the ante and did something we gays never did: they targeted children.
Really? Tell that to the kids who were not adopted because being Christian and not following your line disqualified faithful Catholics from adoption. We went from: “We just want the right like hospital visits and inheritance” to “Heather has two mommies” in the school libraries. We saw this pushed in the faces of families, kids, schools and entertainment everywhere, except of course in places where Islam has a foothold because as radical as the gay left is and has always been, they’re not suicidal.
He closes his penultimate paragraph with yet another Faucian spin
But I can’t in good conscience stay silent when I spent a lifetime attempting to defend the simple existence of the normie gay from the bigots on the far right and the fanatics on the far left.
Bullshit! You weren’t interested in defending the “existence” of anybody, it was all about redefining norms to your liking. It’s no different from those four hundred years ago who redefined “marriage” because they didn’t like the idea of different races mixing. It’s no different than Fauci redefining “vaccine” for the sake of covering it’s failure to protect people. It’s the same as Democrats ( ironically those who he allied with to push his agenda) who where all about lockdowns and closed schools and masks suddenly insisting they never had supported any of those things now that the consequences of their actions are ravaging society
And now Sullivan in this piece is trying to pull the ultimate Fauci. He had nothing to do with any of this and must now, that the true horror of kids being spayed for fun and profit is not happening quietly where the general public is unaware of it, make a statement?
I may not be a Corleone but I am a Sicilian, and it insults my intelligence that he might think I’d fall for this. Like Burt Lancaster’s Ernst Janning he is trying to convince us that he never thought it would come to kids being nurtured by the thousands for profit, or or the redefinition of “Boy” and “Girl”.
It came to that the first time a Christian was rejected by an adoption agency for being faithful to Christ.
For decades the political has left waged a guerilla style war here in the United States. It was a cultural war fought with destructive ideas rather than the type of war fought with guns and other physical weapons. It was a war they fought unopposed because most of us on the political right did not think this conflict was worth our attention. We were so very wrong.
A small minority of us Conservatives and Libertarians saw what was taking place and tried desperately to raise the alarm. We were all but ignored.
Now that this culture war is all but won by the Marxist Left, a sizable percentage of those of us on the Right have finally taken notice and have begin to fight back. The hugely effective boycott of Bud Light is strong evidence that we have effective weapons in our arsenal.
The political left has targeted children from the very beginning. This article explains the two fold rational behind this.
Leftists aren’t building a robust generation of people who can fight wars and control countries. Instead, they are creating a broken generation of people who will be physically and mentally dependent on government care for the rest of their lives.
Lenin understood how important children are to any revolution. The most famous quotation attributed to him is, “Give us the child for eight years, and it will be a Bolshevik forever.” An alternative is, “Give me just one generation of youth, and I’ll transform the whole world.”
As you can see from this article, the strategy employed by the left was devious and effective.
Much as America’s enemies historically used its (formerly) free press and the nature of its open society against it, Constitution-disdaining leftists used conservatives’ adherence to the Constitution — and its mandate for limited government, the rule of law, and equal justice under that law — against them in their now successful bid to get control over virtually all of the country’s institutions and levers of power.
They now ruthlessly use the self-same institutions they used to protest — but now own — to spy on, castigate, deplatform, silence, slander, “cancel,” and even incarcerate those with whom they disagree. They eschew dialogue and debate and simply scream “racist!” or “transphobe!” at any- and everyone who dares to dissent from their preposterous narrative.
Corporate media proved to be the most effective arsenal the left employed in this culture war.
IF you can control the information flow, you can control an entire society. Gone are the days of trusting your reporters and news outlets to provide unbiased and factual pieces to keep you informed on the state of your country.
Perhaps I’ve watched too many “X-Files” episodes, but I now embrace the same principle of Fox Mulder: trust no one. To get to the bottom of any story as a citizen, you’d have to read reports of the same incident on at least 30 different outlets to get a sliver of truth.
The hard reality is that traditional media outlets have been not just complicit, but happy little manipulation warriors bent on ensuring your mind and views fall in line with their chosen narrative.
Over the last decade, their narrative of choice: You’re a racist.
According to Lexus Nexus, there has been a marked increase in specific phrases and words since 2014. As an example, below is a taste of some of these terms: white privilege, system racism, diversity and inclusion, unconscious bias, whiteness, intersectionality, diversity training, police brutality
How sharp is this increase? For example, between 2011 and 2019, the New York Times and Washington Post increased using words like ‘racist,’ ‘racists,’ and ‘racism’ increased by over 700% and 1,000%, respectively.
Furthermore, between 2013 and 2019, the same two publications increased their usage of terms like ‘systemic racism,’ ‘structural racism,’ and ‘institutional racism’ by 1,000%. And during that same timeframe, the two liberal heavyweights of print used ‘white privilege’ and ‘racial privilege’ at an increased rate of 1,200% and 1,500%, respectively.
College campuses have also been the primary battlefields where this culture war has been fought and won by the left. Checkout this article.
Hundreds of professors at the University of North Carolina signed a public letter Tuesday opposing legislation that would require university students to take courses on America’s government and founding documents.
The 673 UNC Chapel Hill professors revealed the public letter Tuesday, arguing the new courses and another bill in the North Carolina House of Representatives would constitute an infringement on the university’s “academic freedom.”
The first piece of legislation, House Bill 96, would require students to take a 3 credit-hour course covering America’s founding and history. Required reading for the course would include the U.S. Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Emancipation Proclamation, at least five essays from the Federalist Papers, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Letter from Birmingham Jail and the Gettysburg Address.
The author if this American Thinker article has it absolutely correct.
Put simply, the big mistake in thinking the culture war isn’t the most critical issue heading into 2024 is that all of American politics is now one big culture war. The culture war is the only issue because the cultural war is everything now. When one side stakes its claim to political power on offering abortion up until birth and transgender operations for 8-year-olds, and holds out these policies as proof of its moral authority, we’re way past arguing over how to get the economy back on track. There’s no going back to that kind of politics.
Tucker Carlson hit on this at the end of his big speech at Heritage recently. He compared the values of the political left to the values of the Aztecs, who sacrificed children to their bloodthirsty gods — and he wasn’t wrong.
