Jay Nordlinger: Journolist; Picked over by whom?

Jay Nordlinger’s new column starts with this phrase:

I know that “Journolist” has been mightily picked over — and picked on …

Ah Jay it all depends on the audiance. If you get your information from the main stream media, the mainstream TV networks and cable networks (excluding Fox) not only has Journolist not been “picked over” it has barely been touched.

Ironically Nordlinger touches on that very thing with his first remark:

Bob Novak used to say, ‘That’s the line” — he said it with dismissive contempt. Someone else, usually on the left, would make some excuse or give some talking point, and Novak’d say, “That’s the line.” I can just hear him.

And reminds us of a line that we heard often during the election:

Some people thought that the Left would calm down, with the election of Barack Obama as president. They are now in charge. It should be okay to fight, or at least appreciate, the War on Terror (as we used to call it). (Obama and his people prefer “overseas contingency operations.”) But the Left seems as hepped up as ever.

Why? Not because they were against George Bush, (they were) but because they were and always have been (as Glenn Reynolds has always said) on the other side.

And make sure you look at all the Instapundit links there. The left may want to forget them but I sure not going to.

Trig Trutherism hits Andrew Sullivan with a cluebat

Who knew that Sullivan’s Syndrome might have a positive side effect:

If you want to know why the allegedly liberal media didn’t touch – and still won’t touch – this story, look no further. It has nothing to do with the facts, and everything to do with their politics. Notice the core modus operandi of the political operative, not the journalist. When dealing with a story: first ask yourself not if it is true but whether the outcome benefits your side. Second, write things in defense of this that you cannot possibly know. Palin a “wonderful mother”? How on earth did Klein know that?

I’m reminded of the line from Screwtape XIII where Screwtape comments that a “patient” is: “defended from strong temptations to social ambition by a still stronger taste for tripe and onions” His trig trutherism is such a deeply held belief that it removes the blinders from his eyes to the dangerous of journolist and the lies therin one more quote:

This is your liberal media, ladies and gentlemen: totally partisan, interested in the truth only if it advances their agenda, and devoid of any balls whatsoever.

His Palin derangement comes through in the next lines blinding to the fact that of course the press would have the willingness to attack Palin in 2012 just not with Trig Trutherism. I will say this for him: He was honest enough in his delusion to openly admit it and fight for it, not so others.

How Ironic is it that Sullivan’s trig trutherism might be the thing that forces the journolist into the MSM? I know the Lord works in mysterious ways but this takes the cake.

Is CNN based in China or something?

CNN reports want to censor the blogs. We have seen this stuff for years No Sheeples Here puts it very well:

Uh, no John, we’re not a bunch of cowards. The corporate-controlled media is the coward. You didn’t see any blogs selling out our intelligence community like The Washington Post did in its three-part story Top Secret America.

Bloggers do the work that journalists used to do. Oh, and the pariah of the dead tree media—The National Enquirer—has scooped the lamestream media so many times we’ve lost count.

When you visit a blog you know exactly what you’re getting. Unlike so-called journalists who “claim” not to be biased, bloggers are up front about their biases. Bloggers on the right, for the most part, are rarely paid. I know this blogger isn’t. I don’t advertise here. The one advertisement you see at the top of the sidebar is placed there gratis because I love everything Old Glory stands for.

I don’t get paid here either (except per hit on my examiner work) but feel free to kick into DaTipJar if you think that needs to change.

On and if you want to see an example of the media’s self censorship of stories they don’t want reported, consider this from Moe Lane (all emphasis mine):

The mayor being Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan, of course. If you read the story, it has been conceded by all parties that drinking was involved; but apparently only a on-the-spot field breathalyzer test was deemed necessary to clear the driver, who, again, is the brother-in-law of the mayor of Bethlehem, who is now running for Congress. Any particular reason why the city never followed up on a possibly-booze related accident that injured one of its police officers, and is apparently now stonewalling reporters on it?

What? This is a local matter, and thus no big deal? Yeah, well, that’s what they said about Bill Delahunt and the Amy Bishop cover up.

“Who?” Precisely.

The left’s greatest strength is as a gatekeeper keeping stories from going beyond a short blub in a local paper on at the AP. Let’s add one more example from a while back

The silencing of Summers was easy to miss. The Washington Post did not report it. The New York Times gave it three sentences. The Los Angeles Times ignored it, except for one nonstaff op-ed.

By contrast, the briefly martyred Chemerinsky — who was hired, fired (based on conservative complaints about his political views), and rehired (thanks in part to free-speech conservative support) as founding dean of a new law school at UC Irvine — inspired 17 articles and editorials in the Los Angeles Times, two articles and an outraged editorial in The New York Times, and one article in The Washington Post.

but to put it simply, its so bad that even Andrew Sullivan believes it’s corrupt and some members seem ready to out themselves before somebody else does.
