We interrupt our series on a world without police in order to explain to Allahpundit, whose take on the President and Seattle is clueless on Seattle:

It’s the Insurrection Act debate all over again. Rather than wait for evidence that local cops and the National Guard can’t deal with the problem themselves, he’s trying to bigfoot local officials by inserting the military into the situation. He really wants a presidential show of force against Americans to underline his “law and order” message.

and explain exactly what Trump is doing.

What’s most odd about this cluelessness is that he almost gets it when he gives POTUS advice on what he should do.

Trump should skip the tough-guy chatter and instead calmly emphasize that a Democratic-run city can’t be trusted to protect its own citizens from woke thugs. Turn up the heat politically on Inslee and Durkan by focusing on their complicity in the takeover, minus any threats. Let voters draw their own conclusions about whether to empower Democrats at the national level this fall.

What Allah doesn’t understand is that this is exactly what POTUS is doing by tweeting the whole “you handle it or I will” stuff because he understand DaTechGuy’s 3rd law of media outrage that states:

The MSM’s elevation and continued classification of any story as Nationally Newsworthy rather than only of local interest is in direct correlation to said story’s current ability to affirm any current Democrat/Liberal/Media meme/talking point, particularly on the subject of race or sexuality.

At a time when the Democrat / Media / left is desperately trying to spin away any contention that they want to disband and/or defund police (not to mention whitewashing protests and looting in general and ANTIFA in particularly the last thing you need is a black ANTIFA warlord taking over parts of a Democrat city, beating people who disagree with him ,extorting cash from merchants and building a friggen wall around the area becoming a national story.

Or do you think it was a coincidence that the Governor felt safe in pretending he had no idea what was happening

https://twitchy.com/brettt-3136/2020/06/10/thats-news-to-me-washington-gov-jay-inslee-gets-the-giggles-when-asked-about-seattle-being-taken-over-by-anarchists/

He knows the media is in the tank for the Democrat / Antifa / left . As long as the national media continued to ignore or downplay the story he could pretend it wasn’t happening and minimize any Damage to the Democrats both locally and nationally.

However once POTUS Tweeted what’s going on in Seattle becomes a national if not an international story. Now it forces a response, and from some a really stupid one as even Allah notes:

It says a lot about the country in 2020 that both the governor and the mayor thought there’d be more political benefit from goofing on him and his demands than from siding with him against an armed occupation of several city blocks:

Click to view Durkan’s full tweet and you’ll see that it contains some raised-fist emojis — at a moment that part of her own city has been declared off limits to police by “armed paramilitaries.” What?

emphasis (but not BOLD in origination)

Actually it says a lot about both the Governor and the Mayor. They “goofed” on him because to do otherwise brings more attention to their productions of #cluelessinseattle than the President already has.

The reality is thanks to his Tweets Trump can’t lose here. If Durkan or Inslee take action, he can say it was his due to him prompting, but if they don’t every day Mayor Durkan and Governor Inslee play #CluelessInSeattle is a win for Trump and a loss for the Democrats, a loss that the can emphasize in a single tweet at any time without warning to emphasize any individual act of outrage by the “autonomous community” or cowardice or indecision by the Mayor & Governor. (In fact I was was POTUS i’d use the hashtag #cluelessinseattle while doing so.

He can let this simmer for weeks while assigning a General to plan on how to retake the area giving time for a detailed plan to be developed and the forces and resources needed to carry it out can slowly and quietly be marshaled while state officials ditther.

But there is no need to hurry. After all the people of Seattle freely chose Mayor Durkan and the people of Washington freely chose Governor Inslee and I suspect President Trump will wait until all the plans are made and everything is ready to move at a moment’s notice, so that when he decides “enough is enough” he will be able to strike, quickly and decisively.

Until then with no more than an occasional tweet he’ll let the people of Washington State in General and Seattle in Particular enjoy the production of #CluelessinSeattle getting as all voters in a republic do, the results of the government they deserve, good and hard!

Marty Pilletti: The burlesque! Loew’s Paradise! Miserable and lonely! Miserable and lonely and stupid! What am I, crazy or something?! I got something good here! What am I hanging around with you guys for?!

Marty 1955

What have you got to lose?

Donald Trump

It’s axiomatic that when you have a dictatorship it takes a dramatic moment for things to change, for people to reach the point where they say as Sigorney Weaver famously did on Galaxy Quest: “Well Screw That”. and decide to bring it down.

When you have a one party state, the principle is the same a breaking point has to be reached. People have to look at a situation and like the title Character in Marty surrounded by guys who all thought the women he met yesterday was a dog say: “What am I hanging around with you guys for?!

The media would have you believe that the killing of George Floyd is that moment, but the reality is they have ginned up outrage like this before, Travon Martin, Michael Brown and the conditions for Black America did not change.

No I think the breaking moment has arrived but it happened yesterday with the jobs report from Friday:

2.5 Million jobs added, unemployment down but not everwhere (via Glenn):

What else do they have in common? Riots last week so bad that poor blacks in Chicago don’t have sources for food.

Wright, his grandmother and so many around here are trying to figure out which stores on the South Side are even left right now.

Chicago now has food deserts in places that weren’t food deserts before.

“Bronzeville Mariano’s was looted, the Walmart on 47th was looted. Jewel,” said activist William Calloway.

And the food deserts that were there before are worse now.

“Now you have to go out of your way to get this stuff,” said activist Emir Lions. “People that don’t have a car. People that do not have family and friends.”

“Some seniors can’t travel,” added Calloway…

…The biggest fear is that some of these stores won’t come back.

Remember before Cornoa Virus hit Black America had the lowest unemployment it had seen since emancipation and Prison reform combined with the need for workers meant that folks who weren’t given a chance before now had one.

Not anymore, at least if you are living in a blue state or a blue city where unless you want to march, or protest or loot, you are out of luck.

However if you are living in a red state outside of a blue city within it, you’re open for business, jobs are surging back and people are heading back toward the prosperity they once had.

Now don’t get me wrong, there are still millions of black Americans who aren’t done playing Charlie Brown to the Democrats Lucy and Joe Biden should easily get 75% of that vote or more.

But the Democrats are SO dependent on said vote that if POTUS even grabs a small bit more then he did last time or disgusted black democrats stay home it changes everything.

I submit and suggest that a lot of Black Americans not on the payroll of the DNC or any activist group are looking at this and saying and while not deviating publicly from the line BLM line will go to the voting booth on the city state and local level and vote “Well Screw that”.

And like Sigorney Weaver those who read lips will see the expletive come Nov 3rd.

The full scene is here

DaTechGuy of DaRadio livestraem podcast starts at a special time today 3 PM because of the surprise cancellation of work and my wife’s windshield repair. We’ll talk a bit about Trump the Jacksonian and about the riots going on in Minnesota.

You can watch the livestream here?

I hope you enjoy it.

John Henry Thomas: We’ll give them a taste of General Sherman’s War

Confederate Col James Langdon: I remember

The Undefeated 1969

About a year before his more famous march through Georgia, William Tecumseh Sherman led a two pronged attack on Mississippi, namely on Meridian, and while the Cavalry prong was broken off by Nathan Bedford Forest against 2-1 odds Sherman’s main force hit the town and the country side around it in a devastating fashion causing millions of (1863) dollars of damage and laying waste to the area as a preview what would happen during his famous March Though Georgia (and South Carolina) in the coming years.

After his withdrawal from Meridian he put out a paper with the intention of having it widely circulated to as he put it “prepare the South for my coming”. It said in part:

If they want eternal war, well and good; we accept the issue, and will dispossess them and put our friends in their place. If they think different, let them persist in war three years longer, and then they will not be consulted. Three years ago by a little reflection and patience they could have had a hundred years of peace and prosperity, but they preferred war; very well. All the powers of earth cannot restore them their slaves, any more than their dead grandfathers. Next year their lands will be taken, for in war we can take them, and rightfully, too, and in another year they may beg in vain for their lives. A people who will persevere in war beyond a certain limit ought to know the consequences. Many, many peoples with less pertinacity have been wiped out of national existence

And that in a slightly round about way brings us to Donald Trump and Joe Scarborough. A topic that I must confess I’m surprised to still be writing about a full week after this could and should have died.

I’ve already explained both why I presume there is no “there” there in this case and why President Trump saw advantage in the move. In fact Twitter’s caving into the Democrat mob on “fact check” might already have produced advantage, namely an excuse to remove their protection from suits, treating them as a publisher rather than a platform, but the more I see the reaction out there the more I think I missed the real point of this.

Gandalf: Saurman you were deep in the enemy’s counsel. Tell us what you know.

Lord of the Rings, The Return of the King Extended Version 2003

As a businessman who had to do business in deep blue cities and deal with deep blue pols, as a celebrity involved in the TV and movie business, as a person who ran casinos and as a much sought after source of funds for political campaigns, Donald Trump, like Saurman was deep in the enemy counsel. For almost half a century he was feted by these types. I suspect he has heard every single bit of gossip and rumor than all these types offered up after a few rounds (while he remained sober) and like the businessman he is squirreled that away for future reference.

TV Exec 1: What’s he writing?

TV Exec 2: Duck? Did anyone do anything with a Duck?

EdTV 1999

Furthermore we’ve already explained that Donald Trump is a Jacksonian who has no compunction about giving back exactly what he has gotten. Treat him nice, he’ll treat you nice. Say a good word about him, he’ll say a good word about you. Try to destroy him, and he will retaliate.

President Trump would have likely let this go if Mika and company had not gone after Twitter over it. And he has plenty of other balls in the air that he is giving his time to. But now that Mitt and others are trying to hit him over it. I think it’s likely that he might give this story one more hit to make the point clear to the next celebrity, newsman, pol who he has known for decades who tries to cross him.

Gillom Rogers: Mr. Books, How is it you’ve killed so many men? My spread wasn’t much bigger than yours.

John Bernard Books: First of all, friend, there’s no one up there shooting back at you. Second, I found most men aren’t willing, they bat an eye, or draw a breath before they shoot. I won’t.

The Shootist 1976

If he is willing to go this far with Scarborough he is certainly willing to do so with you. The left has suggested that they will retaliate against and and all who are Trump allies. Trump has now made it clear that no amount of pressure will prevent him from giving the Scarborough treatment to any person who comes after him the same way if he so chooses, and he has a long memory for events.

I’d swear his ancestry was Sicilian
