Via Michael Graham, remember this is a field trip of a public school:

And here is what Graham says, he is exactly right.

This wasn’t a private school trip. It’s a public school, and students are lining up to pray. Can you imagine that happening on a field trip to a church or synagogue? Then again—have you ever HEARD of a Massachusetts public school visiting a church?

The worst part to me is the “we were feminists first” nonsense. Tell that to the Muslim women in Europe today wearing burkhas and bowing to their husbands in public. As Charles Jacobs points out, it’s utter nonsense.

If they were taken to a Catholic Church and prayed (they could not be given communion under Catholic Rules btw) the MSM would be in an uproar, but then again we Catholics don’t behead unbelievers (and those on the left who scream Spanish inquisition give me some examples from the 20th century) while those who suggest drawing Islam have to change their names and run.

it’s not news that our liberal friends are in an uproar because of Phyllis Schlafly, she has been giving them fits since I was 1 year old. I just want to know if anyone see the irony in this screen short from Memeorandum.

Note that at Memeorandum we can see the president’s actual remarks but we don’t know from the look what Schlafly actually said, so lets go to the tape:

Certainly nothing factually wrong there, Stacy McCain not only put it best:

This is what we in the journalism business call a “fact”

after including the numbers to back her up pointed out this:

Those numbers are from an exit poll conducted by a notorious right-wing extremist group — CNN — and Schlafly’s explanation of why single women vote overwhelmingly for Democrats is neither new nor “extreme” nor uniquely hers

Then again that’s nonsense what makes anyone think people are becoming dependent on the government:

I can’t see where anyone would get that idea

On the president’s remarks, can you imagine the uproar if George W. Bush said that? The coverage would be non stop 24/7 every station. I’m sure it’s unfair to suggest our liberal friends will not complain about the president calling Africian Americans “Mongrel People” on national TV and they will get around to denouncing it as soon as Shirley Sherrod (our national arbiter on racism) does.

As for Mrs. Schlafly; the only time our liberal friends will not be calling on us to denounce her will be on the day she is burred, and I’m not so sure about they will hold back then. Any candidate stupid enough to go along with this deserves to lose.

One thing about the NAACP video of Shirley Sherrod

…that nobody is mentioning.

Look at the crowd reaction when she says this. Is there shock? Is there disgust? Is there anger? Nope, they are with her all the way.

That says more about the NAACP than anything Sherrod did. The NAACP didn’t reject Shirley Sherrod that night or last week because they never had a problem with what she said.

If Andrew Brietbart didn’t put out that video they would still be behind her. The only reason why Ben Jealous et/al have rejected Sherrod is because what she said to them behind closed doors in the past has been exposed to the general public. It is the same as Barack Obama and Rev Wright, if those videos of Wright didn’t exist he would be a regular guest at the White House today.

It would be very interesting to find people in that crowd and ask them if they had a problem with what she said when she said it.

A story that won’t get promoted from the local news

There is a story at the Worcester Telegram that I suspect will never make it to the New York Times, Washington Post, Morning Joe or Memeorandom Here are the details:

Local gay activist Albert M. Toney III has been charged with sexually assaulting a 17-year-old youth last month in the locker room of the YMCA.

The 17-year-old told investigators he was standing in front of a fan in the locker room of the YMCA at 766 Main St. June 15 when Mr. Toney, who was nude, approached him from behind, grabbed his buttock and pressed himself up against him without his consent, according to a statement filed in court by police Sgt. John W. Lewis. Mr. Toney, a former Worcester police officer, then allegedly invited the 17-year-old to join him in the steam room.

A longtime gay activist and advocate for gay and lesbian youth, Mr. Toney is president of AK Consulting Services, an education/diversity training and consulting company.

He was active in the campaign for same-sex marriage rights in Massachusetts and was the first openly gay candidate to run for Worcester City Council.

Ok so we have a public figure, well known in the community, active in the same sex marriage fight and a “youth advocate” charged. Will this story be in any of the above venues? Will it make any papers beyond Worcester? Will there be a memeorandum thread? I think not, the media will not consider this more than a local story. However with a few edits of the Bold Text I can make it a newsworthy story, observe: My edited text is in Italics:

See? A few edits and Viola; A story worthy of the New York Times, and a memeorandum thread. Will this story get any media play without said edits? Oh sure, around the same day that Andrew Sullivan endorses Sarah Palin for president on the Chris Matthews show.
