…during a campaign appearance:

“I was going to give a few remarks on the people who were over here a week ago Saturday,” Reid said in a video posted by Fox News anchor Greta Van Susteren, “but I couldn’t find it written all over my hands.

“You betcha,” Reid added to supporters’ laughter, mimicking one of Palin’s trademark slogans.

Did you write that one yourself Sen Reid?

Tell me Harry, how many people did you draw? Stacy McCain puts the number at 100 and points out:

the Hopeless Harry Tour continued on to Las Vegas, where Reid reportedly drew about 1,000 “hard-core Democrats” — at least 2,000 less than the attendance at Ann Coulter’s Vegas speech at the Henderson Pavillion (fixed seating for 2,400, plus lawn seating for up to 1,500).

It’s seems like a giant kabuki theatre, he whistles while his opponents cross the 50% mark in the polls.

I understand that in an election you have to paint an optimistic picture but eventually you just look like a fool. I think we’ve passed the eventually point.

Maybe he needs a fedora?

I’d be financing 3rd party Tea Party candidates in every congressional race I can.

If you think Democrats are NOT thinking of doing this you’d better think again. Historically the best features and issues of 3rd parties are adopted by one of the major parties and they tend to be folded in, otherwise you are going to get a series of plurality elections.

Morning Joe is also talking about this as an advantage for Harry Reid.

Remember Bill Clinton never won 50% of the popular vote in either of his elections. I’m with Glenn Reynolds on this one:

I think it’s smarter for Tea Party activists to target primary races, rather than starting their own party as seems to be happening in Nevada. Two words: “Ross Perot.” Two more: “Ralph Nader.”

I would actually run candidates in both democratic and Republican primaries. There is no reason why a person who is fiscally conservative can not be liberal in social issues. Cast a wide net and work together when you can.

…on the below the fold story.

I laughed my head off. That caption is perfect and not because of the “Negro” business.

Nothing like great comedy to start a day.

…and this president would forgive him, he has no choice.

In my opinion it all comes down to Obamacare, if this was 3 months ago or even two months ago they might have been able to ease him back, but right now the negotiations on are critical. If they want to get this in before the Massachusetts elections they can’t elbow Reid aside.

This president has bet the farm on healthcare and he can’t afford to take any chances.

I think Harry Reid figured this out and played this perfectly, I think honestly that Obamacare is so important that if he said what Bill Clinton is alleged to have said he would still be forgiven.

Timing is everything and this is the one time in the last year that Reid’s timing has been perfect.

Update (sorta): I was going to schedule this post for around noon since I’ll be at a funeral mass/etc but Andrea Mitchel just made this point on Morning Joe so I’m posting it now.
