My answer to Dave on Israel…

One of my most prolific commentators lately is a liberal fellow named David W. Walters. He has been kind enough to give me his attention and critiques on the issue and I’m very pleased to have him. After all if your positions are worth anything they can stand up under fire. Anyways Today he left the following comment concerning the blog redesign (Thumbs up, thanks) and Israel: to wit:

-Your blog looks better…..
But Israel has lost my support and is loosing the support of more Americans as they continue to occupy Palestinian territory and brutalize civilians. Yes, I abhor terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians. But those actions are the result of Palestinian rage against Israel. If Israel is really interested in a peaceful settlement with Palestinians, they have to stop taking land that isn’t theirs by bulldozing people’s homes and cutting off water supplies. That just isn’t civilized.

I wrote a very long response that really should be a post so I’m promoting it:

I have to disagree for several reasons:

First of all the first partition split the country into two parts, a Jewish and an Arab one. The “Palestinian” part was Jordan. However the Arabs decided they would rather kill off the Jews instead.

Secondly nobody even thought of a different Palestinian state until Israel conquered the west bank and Gaza. Egypt and Jordan could have made a “Palestinian” state any time they wanted to at that time, but didn’t.

Thirdly: Israel has over and over again given up land for peace and has not gotten peace for it.

Fourthly: Israel pulled out of Gaza fully leaving behind green houses and all kinds of infrastructure, never was the chance for an area to develop better, and yet the Arabs choose to use it as a rocket base to kill Jews.

Fifthly: In arab schools Jews are constantly taught that Jews are to be killed, remember the famous moment here in the US just this year. If you don’t want to bother clicking here is the key quote:

Horowitz …‘Okay, I’ll put it to you this way. I am a Jew. The head of Hizbollah has said that he hopes that we will gather in Israel so he doesn’t have to hunt us down globally. For or Against it?

MSA member: For it.

Or put in in short form. How can you tell the Arab position is bull. Because Arabs serve in the Israeli government and have the vote in Israel, while the Arab/Palestinian area are Judenrein.

When a Jew can live as safely in an Arab area as an Arab can live in Israel, then we’ll talk.

Update: Totten provides a current sixthly

Worry not Smitty

As soon as the historically deficient Ezra Klein is confronted with a republican controlled Senate he will modify his position.

Ezra might I suggest Master of the Senate by Robert Caro (my Amazon review here) if you want to learn about what the senate can and can’t do.

Memeorandum thread here. Take a look at the links at the thread, each of these liberal sites seem to forget that these rules would apply if the Republicans control the senate, but worry not, that’s when they will also change their minds.

Oliver Stone projects…

Stacy is spot on concerning Oliver Stone to wit:

In the “context,” that is, of hating America. And Oliver Stone’s hatred of American is probably the best explanation for why a formerly successful feature director, an Academy Award winner, is reduced to directing crackpot “documentaries” for cable TV. Who wants to watch movies based on the theme that America is the unique embodiment of evil in the world?

There’s something frightening, really, when you realize how many people bought into the conspiratorial worldview of Stone’s JFK and then ponder the pathological destination to which this worldview has led Stone. And does anybody doubt that Stone has a handy scapegoat for his career problems? Blame the Jews!

When I look at the Newsbusters clip there is actually at least one point of Oliver Stone’s rant is worth considering.

Hitler did have a lot more support both within and outside of Germany that people care to remember, but I suspect Stone would like to forget that this includes the far left which just fawned over Adolph once he made is pact with the USSR and did a 180 as soon as he invaded the Soviet Union. As the saying went in France: “If everyone who claimed to be resistance were resistance, there would have been nobody left to collaborate.” It’s important to not forget that a lot of people bought what he was selling. This is is generally true for any purveyor of evil, they all have their acolytes that help make them possible.

The ultimate irony of this? This is exactly the role the Stone and people like him serve for Chavez (who he excuses) Iran (who he minimizes) and served for Saddam (Bush was worse).

Stone only valid point in his rant turns out to be a case of projection but he doesn’t see it. How could he? He is blinded to reality by the power of the “Jewish Cabel”.

Remind you of anyone?

Memeorandum thread here.

Update: The Volokh Conspiracy lays it out in case I was too vague:

Gibson was an easy target for Hollywood liberals and leftists. A right-winger and a religious Catholic, Gibson was the perfect manifestation of Hollywood liberals’ stereotypes of anti-Semites.

Stone, by contrast, is a Buddhist leftist of partial Jewish descent, the kind of person the Hollywood left usually thinks of as “one of the good guys.” Stone even was clever enough to follow his anti-Semitic remark about Jewish domination of the media, noted in the context of Hitler and the Holocaust, with some pablum about the Jewish lobby, Israel, and American foreign policy. This had nothing to do with the topic at hand, but Stone’s apologists will inevitably claim that his remarks were aimed at the “Israel lobby,” and not Jews per se.

Let’s see if stone gets the same play as Gibson, likely not, no baby mama in play here.
