…with people spending money that is not theirs to help others:

The catastrophic earthquake in Haiti has prompted many staffers to make donations to aid quake victims. We encourage that. However, if you have an AT&T cellphone, you may have received a text offering you a chance to make a contribution to assist them by simply texting a number. Remember, however, that if you have a company-paid phone, that bill goes to the company and is paid by the company. it is not a personal contribution. So, Bill Schmidt reminds everyone that if you would like to make a contribution, please use a method other than this one.

Let’s play a game: How many times can you re-write the message above substituting the name of a different government program each time for “Haiti” and “company paid phone” and “paid by the company” with “paid by the American Taxpayer” without repeating yourself?

The only rule would be that it has to be a program that the New York Times supports. I don’t think I have the bandwidth.

to find out my hometown paper endorsed Scott Brown.

We are endorsing Scott Brown for the U.S. Senate because we believe he is capable of bringing a common-sense approach to Washington, D.C., focused on serving the people of the state who are struggling to get by, rather than the special interests in the Democratic machine of which Coakley is such a big part of.

I don’t remember the last time they backed a republican. Read the whole thing, it sounds like a point by point indictment of Coakley.

The funny thing is I picked up the paper at 7:30 for Stacy but we never got the chance to read it.

And as Mayor Wong was at the Coakley rally I see the endorsement didn’t effect her opinion.

stating in big letters that YOU (meaning us) can make educators and students a priority in Washington by voting for Martha Coakley came in the mail today.

Ironically it shows up on the very day that we discover she apparently can’t spellMassachusetts“.

Maybe she should run for Senator from Berkeley.

Vote Brown.

On Morning Joe today Norah O’Donnell asked a newspaperman on the set why he didn’t publish the Edwards story during the primaries.

Well this question was certainly proper. After all O’Donnell works for NBC so she is certainly not familiar with how a news organization is supposed to operate.

Some people just parody themselves.

Update: Same story different characters. Of course Bill Clinton sleeping around is not really news is it?
