It’s unfortunately business as usual:

Noor Almaleki has just died in Arizona. May she rest in peace. May her murderer, her father, be brought to justice. My condolences to those who loved her.

May American justice prevail. The prosecutor has described this as an “attempted honor killing.”

At a court hearing over the weekend in Phoenix, county prosecutor Stephanie Low told a judge that Almaleki admitted to committing the crime.

“By his own admission, this was an intentional act and the reason was that his daughter had brought shame on him and his family,” Low said. “This was an attempt at an honor killing.”

Michelle Malkin is appalled, Grand Rants is horrified:

This is the second known honor killing this year in America. I pray that it is the last, but I fear there is worse to come. As I said back in February: Unthinkable at one time, but no more.

And memeorandum is practically empty on the subject.

If you wonder why Pam Geller personally spends so much time and effort on the Rifqa Bary this is why.

Pretending this isn’t happening is no solution, or like minority children killed in black neighborhoods by minority drug dealers are we going to ignore them because these are Muslims being killed by other Muslims?

The Former is already a national disgrace the latter is going to become one, and like the former it will affect the entire land no matter how much we pretend otherwise.

Update: The Moderate voice opines:

Imagine for a moment that a segment of the Southern Baptist Church was supporting the idea of parents killing their teenage daughters for going out on dates. The public reaction would be swift and severe (and properly so). Media figures like Bill Maher would go ballistic, labeling the entire Christian Church with such behavior.

And yet when this exact thing is happening within the Muslim community the reaction seems muted. In the United States today there are parents killing their children (usually daughters) for engaging in ‘dishonorable behavior’. One parent recently killed his child by running her over with his car.

I am not suggesting that this behavior represents the mainstream of any faith. But it is something that ought to be condemned regardless of where it is being done and the PC silence on the topic is disturbing.

So close and yet still slightly in denial.

My mother is the quintessential Sicilian. There are people she doesn’t like or care for, but she is very proper in public concerning them as long as she isn’t questioned directly. She always taught me the value of being able to publicly associate with your enemies. And with enemies you need to establish “neutral ground” such as Church or a funeral where you can be friendly and not let your personal enmity harm or inconvenience others.

There were also other bounds, you would not hurt a foes family or attempt to cost them their livelihood. On shared occasions such as sporting events when you both cheered for the same team it was even acceptable to celebrate together and most importantly there were some rumors and accusations that were so beyond the pale that you didn’t repeat them even about your foes. I saw her do this with people that had directly hurt and insulted her publicly. It was amazing to see.

Most of this was taught by example. Unfortunately (or fortunately) for me I tended to take my fathers example instead. He liked and got along with everyone and as long as they didn’t mean harm to his family he would help anyone. At his funeral I never saw so many people and neither did the funeral home guy for any non celebrity. (He even cooked his own funeral dinner but that’s another story…)

This is one of the reasons why I have taken such a hard line on Charles Johnson and lgf. His accusations against Robert Stacy are not only contrary to the personal experiences of people with actual expereince but it puts his ability to support his wife and family at risk.

Banning people from comments is childish, the comments on Jumping in Pools are childish an revealing, but the actions on the gentleman from Maryland are despicable and continue to be. (This doesn’t even count his actions against Pam Geller, Gates of Vienna et/al).

As I’ve said I’ve never met Charles so I don’t know his motivations, how he thinks, if he is having personal problems that lead to this stuff or anything, but right now I must say I don’t care much for him.

That said he has not yet crossed two particular bright lines that are significant.

He has not crossed over to opposition to Israel vs the Palestinians.

He has not crossed over to the defeat caucus concerning the radical Islam in general and the war in particular.

These are both important lines not only because of what they represent but because unlike some who support the above positions he has the facts and without a question knows better.

As long as those two lines are not crossed his chance of redemption is still intact and I will hope for it while still teasing him over his foolishness and chiding him severely for his offensives against a man I call friend.

Once those lines are crossed, once he actively supports the other side in war then all bets are off. Over time this will be the true test of him and if he just being petulant or if he is doing wrong.

I hope I’m wrong but I have a horrible feeling that this administration will very soon put this to the test.

I have received the following e-mail from the Susan G. Komen for a cure organization updating this story:

Thank you for contacting Susan G. Komen for the Cure. We have new information from our founder, Nancy Goodman Brinker, on this situation.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure Pleased to Announce Egyptian Events to Welcome All Advocates, Including those from Israel

Statement from Nancy Goodman Brinker, Founder, Susan G. Komen for the Cure

Breast cancer advocates from the United States and across the Middle East are meeting in Egypt from October 21-27 for breast cancer awareness events. There have been reports that some of the invited participants would not be allowed to attend these events. Susan G. Komen for the Cure has now received confirmation that all advocates, regardless of their country of origin, are invited to fully participate in events to bring breast cancer to the forefront of public discussion in the Middle East.

After we received the initial report on the situation, we launched a diplomatic effort to ensure they would be able to participate. I am pleased to report that our efforts led to confirmation that all advocates would be welcome to participate in the events.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure remains steadfast in our mission to save lives and end breast cancer forever.

I am very pleased to hear it. I will do my best to confirm this.

UPDATE: Now being reported by JTA:

WASHINGTON (JTA) — Israeli scientists will be allowed to participate in an Egyptian conference hosted by Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

The scientists’ invitations to the event had been revoked by order of Egyptian Health Minister Hatem el-Gabali.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a prominent advocate for breast cancer research, launched a successful diplomatic effort to reverse the decision.

“Susan G. Komen for the Cure has now received confirmation that all scientists, regardless of their country of origin, are invited to fully participate in events to bring breast cancer to the forefront of public discussion in the Middle East,” said the organization’s founder, Nancy Brinker.

Justice wins in the end, I’m glad they fought against it this injustice. I’m sure the pressure by Pam Geller, Gateway Pundit the ADL and my humble self was totally incidental.

Their web site also reports it. Wonderful!

Update: You are welcome Pamala.

…and don’t let that name fool you:

A 27-year-old Massachusetts man has been charged with conspiring with others to carry out terror attacks against shoppers in U.S. malls and against U.S. military in Iraq.

Authorities in Boston say Tarek Mehanna (TEH’-rek meh-HAH’-nah) of Sudbury sought training in terrorist training camps and worked with others from 2001 to May 2008 on the conspiracy to “kill, kidnap, maim or injure” people in foreign countries and to kill prominent U.S. politicians.

Federal prosecutors say Mehanna and his conspirators tried to get automatic weapons for a mall attack, but their plans were foiled when they could not get the weapons.

We can expect him to claim to be an idolized version of the compete Renaissance man any minute now.

Update: HotAir somehow misses the Flemish connection!
