…for the Obama administration to get this low:

The Obama team was not only silent on the new “Israel is racist” language, it also said nothing when faced with Holocaust denial. Negotiators from the European Union suggested on Wednesday a new provision to “condemn without reservation any denial of the Holocaust and urges all states to reject denial of the Holocaust as an historical event, either in full, or in part, or any activities to this end.” Iran–whose president is a Holocaust-denier–immediately objected and insisted that the proposal be “bracketed” or put in dispute. The move blocked the adoption of the proposal and ensured another battle over the reality of the Holocaust in April–at these supposedly “anti-racism” meetings. After Iran objected, the chair looked around the room, expecting a response. He said: “Is there any delegation wishing to comment on this new proposal by the European Union? It doesn’t seem the case. We move on.” U.S. delegates said nothing, even after the prompt.

The official US delegation of the Obama administration was not willing to officially object to Holocaust being in dispute. Can’t make Iran angry.

Since the Obama administration is not a Pseudo Bishop without actual standing in the Catholic Church I suspect the media will not jump on this at all, but the Arthur Carter Watch does:

We haven’t forgotten

Well with plane crashes and stimulus bills etc going on some things have been forgotten, but not by us:

A rocket fired from the Gaza Strip struck just south of the Israeli coastal city of Ashkelon as officials from the Hamas Islamic movement said they were close to signing a truce that would halt such attacks.

This was the second such strike today, after another rocket fired from Gaza struck an Israeli agricultural settlement this morning, according to an Israeli army spokesman speaking on customary condition of anonymity. There were no reported injuries in either incident, the first rocket attacks since the morning of Feb. 6, the army said.

You didn’t think that pulling back from Gaza was going to stop Hamas from trying to kill Jews did you?

Reuters being Reuters reports it with this headline:

Israel troops kill Palestinian teenager-medics

At Paragraph 5 we hear about the rockets. Some things never change do they?

Speaking of elections in Israel…

…I’ve been very interested in what is going on in Israel and I’m interested in elections in general. But I’ve got to tell you. It is about as strange as it can go. The winner isn’t going to be able to govern because of the many tiny losing parties that got enough votes to give the losers the win.

At least with Obama I know I”m in it deep. If I was an Israeli voter I’d have no idea what is going on. This guy gets it though.

Two state solution? Ha!

Via Israellycool this story from the Age nails it:

Hamas has absolutely no desire to negotiate a peaceful Palestinian state living in neighbourly quiet next to Israel. Hamas, and many Palestinians, have effectively abandoned the two-state solution. They instead have a long-term demographic strategy. In 1950, there were 240,000 Gazans, Now there are 1.5 million. By 2040 there will be three million. Eventually, they believe, they will swamp Israel with sheer numbers. And they will never let Israel be free of responsibility for them, either by an association with Egypt, which is what Israel tried to achieve by its withdrawal in 2005, or by becoming an independent state at peace.

At the other end of the spectrum, I believe many moderate Palestinians don’t really want two states either. If you were an Arab East Jerusalemite, would you really want to leave Israel, with its modern economy, world class hospitals etc, to be ruled either by the corrupt kleptomaniacs of Fatah or the totalitarian Islamists of Hamas?

Combine this with Yon’s article from yesterday and you have the situation in a nutshell.

We will see a Palestinian state sometime after Puerto Rico either becomes independent or the 51st state.
