…I was very concerned about the election because of then candidate’s Obama’s promises concerning the war. So concerned that I actually showed up at the polling station, (the same spot where Stacy and I interviewed voters in January) with a McCain Palin sign first thing in the morning and stayed there for most of the day. It being Massachusetts 15 months BSB (Before Scott Brown) there was no organized effort, I just kinda did it on my own.

You’ve never seen surprise on peoples faces like you saw when they turned into the lot to see that McCain/Palin sign. I got quite a few thumbs up and at least one “you’ve got to be kidding” from people, but the end result was within two hours a lady came down to hold an Obama/Biden sign to counter me. (We chatted and have run into each other on at various city events since then becoming friends. She is widowed to a person who was quite active in the democratic party and has stayed involved).

I stayed after she left and then a friend of mine who came to vote, saw me, took my extra sign and held it as well.

Who knew we were 14 months ahead of our time in the state?

as she is a BIG supporter of J. D. Hayworth. (Who I managed to miss at CPAC).

Morning Joe is just destroying John McCain over the “I was duped” stuff. I remember the presidential campaign, at the time this came up he was ahead. Rush and many other conservatives insisted that if he just came out against this it would be the clincher as the American people didn’t didn’t trust it. He insisted he knew better (after all he was a long time senator) and Gov Palin, as a vice presidential candidate does, backed and defended the top of the ticket. This destroyed him.

I will always have a soft spot for John McCain, he stood alone for the surge when many republicans wanted him and it to go away. If there is a person other than President Bush that we can point to as responsible for the Victory in Iraq it is him. For that reason he is owed a debt that can never be repaid. (Not just in terms of Americans, but Iraqi’s who are still alive because of him).

But just as I wouldn’t consider Nomar the shortstop solution for the RedSox in 2010 as his time has passed I think that Barbara is right. John McCain’s time has passed.

It would appear that Mr. Hayworth shares Sen McCain’s correct positions on the war and on Reconciliation while being better on solid conservative issues.

One prediction: If he loses the primary be aware that he will become THE goto republican as far as the MSM goes for as long as he wants to be.

Update: Boy does Michelle elaborate.

A lot of people are upset about this:

Sarah Palin, McCain’s former running mate and perhaps the most powerful brand in Republican politics, will stump for McCain in Arizona on March 26 and 27, a Palin adviser told CNN. The presence of Palin – and the considerable crowds and media attention she will draw – might give pause to J.D. Hayworth, the former Republican congressman and radio host who opposes McCain’s position on illegal immigration and is mulling a Senate run of his own.

Although some might disagree I think this is not only the right thing but it tells me something good about Sarah Palin, to wit:

You might recall I talked to the Mayor of Fitchburg yesterday, although it may hurt her politically she honored her 20 year friendship with her when she needed it, not discarding her for political expediency.

Sarah Palin was chosen by John McCain to be his running mate, when others have attacked her he not only did not, but also didn’t betray his friends who did the attacking. He was loyal.

Sarah Palin knows that a McCain endorsement will hurt her with the tea party people and with people who don’t like McCain. It doesn’t matter, McCain stood by her, she is standing by him.

This is important, if your pol is not honorable then the right position is only right until they need a new one (read Harold Ford).

Remember if she would sell McCain she will sell you.

Update: Michelle doesn’t like the situation but acknowledges the problem:

Tea Party activists are rightly outraged by Sarah Palin’s decision to campaign for McCain, whose entrenched incumbency and progressive views are anathema to the movement. At least she has an excuse: She’s caught between a loyalty rock and a partisan hard place.

Conservatives for Palin notes she is getting hit hard, but Hotair I believe gets it right:

I don’t think anyone will be swayed by Palin’s endorsement. No one seriously believes she’d be backing him if not for her personal loyalty to him, and McCain’s sufficiently infamous for his centrism that even her support won’t scrub him clean in the eyes of tea partiers. Which means this is actually a pretty shrewd move on her part: She gets credit for being a good soldier, especially in light of the sniping at her from his former campaign aides, whereas he gets maybe a few extra votes from conservatives.

We discussed this before he went home and Stacy thought the fault was McCain for putting her in that position.

A: A statement that Sarah Palin is wrong and they are right.

Apparently the “defense” of his campaign aides that the media is reporting on with baited breath doesn’t include the words. “Sarah Palin is not telling the truth and Nicole Wallace and or Steve Schmidt is.” What is he actually saying?

There’s been a lot of dust flying around in the last few days and I just wanted to mention that I have the highest regard for Steve Schmidt and Nicolle Wallace and the rest of the team … and I appreciated all the hard work and everything they did to help the campaign

I can’t see “I like Sarah Palin but she is lying or wrong or mistaken.” anywhere in that or the rest of what he has said.

I wonder why not?
