You know what is really worse than being played for suckers?

The idea that you guys are a bunch of political junkies like me. And that you didn’t anticipate that a Chicago democrat would use you as suckers.

You assumed that the president was lying about his position so it didn’t bother you, after all you figured he was using your political foes as suckers.

The idea that a person who would be that dishonorable might not be trustworthy didn’t occur to you. The idea that a Chicago pol might use a group to his political advantage didn’t hit you. The idea that a man willing to publicly deceive hundreds of millions of people might not be “the one” to put your trust in was beyond you. Nah you were too sophisticated for all that weren’t you?

The fact that he didn’t follow through hurts (well hurts you, I after all don’t support or believe in “Gay Marriage”) but the idea that a bunch of smart savvy political types like yourself were taken for a ride, that’s gotta leave a mark.

Update: The Reclusive Leftist and I strongly disagree on this issue but I respect a person who refuses to be taken for a fool.

A person who you can honestly and openly disagree and argue with is worth ten of someone who says they have your back and then turns the knife. The fact that the president is with me on this issue gives me no comfort, I know that if it was to his political advantage he would flip in a second.

Update: removed redundant sentence

77% of something vs 100% of nothing

That is what the Boston Globe’s union voted for:

The Boston Newspaper Guild, which represents 700 editorial, advertising and business employees, voted 277-265 Monday against the new contract negotiated after the Times Co. said it needed $20 million in annual savings from Globe unions — half from the Guild.

The Times Co. demanded the concessions amid an increasingly dire financial situation at the Globe. The newspaper has struggled as readers migrated to the Internet, advertising revenue declined drastically and circulation fell. The Globe had $50 million in operating losses in 2008 and had been projected to lose $85 million this year.

The result will now be a 23% cut in pay which gives the guild members a choice between 77% of something vs 100% of nothing. Hot air comments:.

The irony here is that the Boston Globe’s owners (aka the New York Times) usually takes a very pro-union stance, editorially speaking. Now, however, the company has decided to take up union-busting. Who knew that they wanted to emulate Ronald Reagan in his handling of PATCO?

Now that should annoy them.

Hopefully, though, cooler heads will prevail and both sides will step back from the brink. Boston is a city that can and should have at least two major dailies, even if in a different format than the dead-tree drop.

Yes it would be nice if we had a two major dailies, instead we have the Boston Herald and an elitist paper that won’t even cover news in its own city that it ideological opposes. If it wasn’t for the sports page it would be a waste of space.

This is going to sound a bit crass but lady if you and the commenters here can’t get it though your collective heads that killing a bear that breaks into your house is a good thing then you deserve to be lunch.

It’s the quote about people so reasonable that the refuse to take their own side of an argument taken to an absurd extreme. Via Glenn.

The story of the Supreme Courts rejection of a challenge to “Don’t ask Don’t tell” has one particularly interesting line in it:

The Supreme Court on Monday turned down a challenge to the Pentagon policy forbidding gays and lesbians from serving openly in the military, granting a request by the Obama administration.

That line and that fact has to absolutely mortify the GLBT groups that promoted this president.

The truth of course is the democrats have controlled congress since 2006 and could have challenged President Bush on this by passing a law repealing it, they declined.

They could easily pass a law repealing it now The bill would be three lines long. They choose not to.

The Gay groups that assume that President Obama is simply lying about his opposition to Gay Marriage and the universities that restrict ROTC because of the military’s policy are deluding themselves.

You are being used. Suckers!
