There is only one thing that amazes me about the Katie Hill story. It’s the idea that she really believed that she could have nudes on the net and that nobody would notice.

Now I grant you, if she just thought nobody would care, she might have gotten away with it, but the concept that it would stay quiet is just silly.

Never forget that the internet is forever and anyone who tells you otherwise is a fool.

It’s been really funny watching the media try to spin Rep Hill’s resignation as a GOP hit job as if the party made her pose for those pictures and put them on the net. They forget that while folks in the bubble still might buy it, the actual story and the pictures are only a click away and that the sole narrative is no longer theirs.

I would have thought Matt Drudge would have taught them that decades ago but they’ve never gotten over it.

There are a lot of people who are laughing about Beto departure from the Presidential race, I’m not.

First of all Beto was extremely useful in that he said aloud the thing we all know and the left didn’t want said. With him out the left/media will do their best to pretend that others do not think like he does and such questions will not be in the debate. With him in the race that wasn’t possible.

But most important of all in the end every single democrat running for the nomination is going to lose except for one, so until it’s down to 3 or 4 candidate, the individual failures don’t mean a thing. So I don’t get excited about it, with one exception…

…that exception is Kamila Harris. Watching her fail has been an absolute pleasure, not just because she is a huge phony who slept her way to the top, but because she is the perfect illustration of the truth about conventional wisdom.

For a very long time everyone who “mattered” told us that Kamila Harris was the future and a lock for the nomination. the day she was elected it was considered Presidential prep. Her folding like a cheap suit demonstrates that conventional wisdom is always correct…right up until the moment that it’s not.

Finally speaking of the conventional wisdom, I began this piece at a McDonalds speaking with some elderly gentlemen when the manager going home came by to say hi. I struck up a conversation with him and discoveered two things I didn’t know.

  1. A slice of cheese costs them .32 when you factor in all the assorted costs.
  2. The Kiosks have led to him INCREASING rather than decreasing his staff.

That 1st fact wasn’t a big surprise but the 2nd really threw me off, I asked the manager why?

He said 1st of all we needed someone to service the tables because the Kisoks require delivery to the table and second of all the Kiosks, along with the various delivery services, increased business and orders to the point where they needed those extra folks for the cooking etc.

Now I don’t know if this is peculiar to the local McDonalds or not but I think it would be worth finding out, but assuming the manager is not blowing smoke I’d say it’s worth finding out on a larger scale.

It’s fun to watch as several of the remaining Democrat candidates for the presidency try to outdo each other in their proposals for disarming the law-abiding.

Kamala Harris creates a problem, then promises to solve it.

Elizabeth Warren’s plans for presidential gun confiscation involve executive orders coupled with nagging the American public to death.

“We will make change, we’ll figure out what works, and then we’ll make some more change and some more change.”

Warren added, “I will take executive action in every corner, with the Department of Justice, with ATF, to move as much as I can.”

And Beta (spelling intentional) tries to top them both:

O’Rourke’s plan lists a number of reforms, including the buyback [sic] program that would remove all banned assault weapons from private ownership — a proposal that goes further than any presented so far by the Democratic field.

(…)

“Beto is calling for a mandatory buyback program for assault weapons and a voluntary buyback program for handguns. To create a funding stream for buybacks, Beto will increase the excise tax on gun manufacturers and fines imposed on gun traffickers, and will enable ATF to purchase any banned assault weapons presented to the agency. Individuals who fail to participate in the mandatory buyback of assault weapons will be fined.”

Beta, sweetheart, straight-out threatening to kick down our doors would be more honest and sound less weaselly.

Honestly, its a toss up as to which one of these I’d like to see lose to President Trump in 2020.

And you may think I forgot about the other Democratic Party front-runner, the former vice president, but I have not.

He would certainly lose to President Trump also, but it has been painfully obvious that Joe Biden is declining in cognitive capabilities. I don’t want to see that final melt down happen in public. Even Biden doesn’t deserve that.

But the others aren’t much smarter. A smart candidate who wanted to take all the guns wouldn’t be so open about it.

The last of my posts written pre-system disaster went up yesterday so here are five thoughts with no live links or graphics under my fedora. I’ll put full URL’s at the end so you can go to the stories using copy and paste.

At PJ Media via Instapundit comes numbers that would shock twitter (does anything NOT shock twitter?) concerning black voters. Trump gotten a bump in support despite the entire media/left screaming racist tweets.

I strongly suspect this is become a lot of black voters live in cities like Baltimore and know what he was saying is true and are glad that someone is actually talking about it in a way that might force action.

Could Trump actually embarrass the Dems enough to clean up their messes? I doubt it, because if he gets credit for it then the Black vote and the national elections it helps Democrats win are gone for a generation.

At Business Insider there is an excellent piece about the culture shock of moving his family from Hollywood to a small town in Idaho and the discoveries that said liberal made. He was shocked that people had their valuables in plain sight, kept their doors unlocked and tended to help each other without any kind of angle.

He also noticed that it was a highly churched culture, heavenly armed and not very diverse. I wonder if there is a connection there?

——————

You might remember that in the last Dem debate Tulsi Gabbard hit Kamila Harris on her record as Attorney General. By an odd coincidence a redesign of the California Department of Corrections no longer gives access to information concerning incarceration during the years that Ms Harris served, now displaying only the current year.

In fairness it is the home state of Nixon. No word if any relatives of the late Rosemary Woods were involved.

————————

The real irony of the success of the Gabbard hit on Harris isn’t that Harris biggest worry isn’t that she might have been a overzealous or a crooked prosecutor but that during her time she might have actually enforced a law that was on the books that liberals didn’t like.

Don’t you know only laws that GOP voters like are to be defied with impunity by those sworn to uphold them?

—————–

Finally the Red Sox have lost five straight for the first time in four years, managed to let an opponent beat them 8 times in Fenway for the 1st time in 53 years (1966 Orioles) and are playing like they know they aren’t going anywhere this year.

I would remind the world series champs that while there is nothing wrong with acknowledging that you can’t win them all, as professionals, particularly professionals on the club with the highest payroll in the league, you are being PAID to try to win them all.

It’s possible it could turn around and they have a punchers chance but I wouldn’t bet the farm on them this year without very attractive odds being given
