The more I see the more I’ve convinced that MSNBC needs Rush Limbaugh to be the big dog in the yard.

All of MSNBC is setup as an adversarial network. Fawning over someone will not bring ratings. If Rush can be the star of the show then they have something to push back on.

Just a thought.

Morning Joe seems to be all over Rush today.

Update: That changed after the 7:00 hour the Rush word hasn’t been said.

7:27 a.m. If Russia and China is blaming the US for their financial worries does that mean it was our fault when they were doing good?

8:01 a.m. What is in this bill that would make a republican vote for it? Nothing says money party.

8:04 a.m. There is an argument that the tax cuts create deficits while money party says argues that it is more efficient than borrowing.

8:05 a.m. This is why Morning Joe is the best morning show you get a discussion. It’s the only worthwhile show on MSNBC.

8:08 a.m. They had them for dinner, he had them for drinks, he was nice to them says Andrea Mitchell yet they didn’t vote with him. How dare they not sell their principles for a few drinks.

8:11 a.m. I’d rather have Obama than Limbaugh to be afraid of.

Can someone explain to me why voting against this bill is an act of fear by republicans while democrats voting for a bill they haven’t read is not an act of fear of not doing something?

8:24 a.m. Vanden-Huval is being contested I love it.

8:25 a.m. The president is new but he is doing something? Isn’t that just the job description?

8:27 a.m. The guy who froze to death should have declared himself a bank holding company. She’s right about that.

8:29 a.m. TARP money spending was wrong, oh God she’s talking sense…until she follow up with Capitalism has failed and need replacing. When your goal is socialism or worse everything is a reason to go for it.

8:01 a.m. Mika sounds rather disingenuous complaining how Blago is using the media to make money and playing the media just before what was a 12 min segment to open the 8:00 hour totally on him.

8:08 a.m. Barnicle makes a great point; if Fitz waited then the seat would have been sold and you would have had by definition a corrupt person in the senate.

8:10 a.m Eugene Robinson “I’m a columnist do I want him to go away?” His answer is no.

Including commercials that means that likely 25% of the 8:00 hour was spent on blago. She could have “torn up” the story there is a precedent for that on the show.

8:18 a.m. Ron Paul is on the air preaching 3 things letting the markets work, and keeping the government bailouts away. Cutting spending and Taxes. Isolation. If you could divorce the final message from the others he would make a lot of sense.

8:38 a.m. How DARE McDonalds provide a meal at a low price when people are hurting financially and still make a profit.

8:40 a.m. Isn’t it a bit disingenuous to be on television telling people to shut off the TV and put away the computer when the show is offered on the Blackberry and as a podcast and on the web and with YouTube clips etc etc etc.

8:42 a.m. Hey tell you what lets eliminate electricity all together get back to a farming economy lose all that technology has given us and just break our backs to feed ourselves like the good old days. We will work like dogs and not have any time to do anything and do it 7 days but when we die from exhaustion we’ll look great!

8:58 a.m. Barnicle is wrong Paul did have an answer. He just didn’t like it. His answer was let the market work. They just didn’t like the answer.

Morning Joe Did I see what I thought I saw?

6:20 p.m. I know I’ve been jumping back and forth between the Comancheros and Morning Joe but did I see them copy Rush Limbaugh teasing of Robert Gibbs “I have to get back to you” montage?

I know that they were using Jimmy Kimble but did they know that Rush did it first?

What will Obama’s people say?

7:03 a.m. Mika’s reading of Maureen Dowd’s column is the talker equivalent of a striptease, it was very funny.

7:05 a.m. It seems to me the way Mika and Dowd talk about Blago it confirms the old bit about women just liking bad boys. Looks like my son’s will have to be priests (well my oldest anyway).

7:20 a.m. Chuck Todd calls us the ADD society.

7:40 a.m. Have you ever seen a network push a program on another network as Morning Joe has pushed the View today?

8:01 a.m. Mika has jumped on the “end appointments” bandwagon.

8:05 a.m. Rendell gives some reality how candidates in special elections the candidates are the choices of the party not an elected official.

8:07 a.m. I always liked Rendell he has never been shy about saying what he thinks. He is talking sense about ARM.

8:35 a.m. Bernstein points out that the same press that is going after wall street lionized them for years. It reminds one that when Bush hatred doesn’t cloud them these guys can be great reporters.

8:55 a.m. I’ve described Mika as a handsome woman but that word is not adequate to describe Mika in those boots. That she can compete in appearance with a woman decades younger is really something. All this and brains too, her husband is just like me, a very lucky man.

Morning Joe doesn’t read the SF Gate

On Morning Joe this morning they are saying that the president did the oath over to stop conspiracy stuff from conservative blogs.

It would have been nice if they had acknowledged that scholors had mentioned it should be done too.

They got a charge playing the clip of Chris Wallace on Fox joking about it while cutting the joke part too.

It didn’t hurt to re-do it but you know whenever Andrea Mitchel is on that show, the reasons I enjoy it just drop like a rock. If she could stop pretending to be unbiased she might be tolerable.

7:25 a.mAnd c’mon Biden made a joke at Roberts expense, so what, its not a gaffe and Roberts if he is a big man (and I suspect he is) can take it. There was nothing wrong with it. It’s funny and Roberts should joke about it himself. Everyone should lighten up on it.

7:37 a.m. It’s amazing how now that there is a different person in the Whitehouse that there are suddenly reasons to protect people who use tough interrogation techniques.

7:38 a.m. Suddenly they are going to defer to Gates on stuff like this.

7:40 a.m. Gregory suddenly remembers that after the OK bombing that the Clinton asked for all the powers that Bush did. I think this slipped his mind during the campaign.

7:41 a.m. Sources tell these guys that Obama has done “everything right” by the military so far. I guess being the first president to skip the medal of honor ball since Truman doesn’t count.

7:44 a.m. The bump music lately has been really good.

7:55 a.m. The money that Isaacson is now saying is being spent in Gaza to compete with Hamas to show them an alternative to war is a joke. If you think Hamas is not intimidating and funneling off those funds then I have a bridge to sell you.

7:58 a.m. Isaacson agrees with Joe and Pat B. that talking to Hamas is needed terrorists or no but not if they are not willing to stop trying to destroy Israel. Joe and Pat and Mika agree that since they were elected they have to be the ones talked to. As I recall Lincoln didn’t talk to the south without acknowledgment that union was a sine qua non. Stopping terror attacks must be the same.

8:13 a.m. Drudge’s “no bible” headline is being teased and rightly so. Please please please stop calling drudge the blogisphere. He is not a blog.

8:15 a.m. Pat asked what he swore on? As I recall the Constitution doesn’t specify swearing on anything. Lets please drop it. (wishful thinking on my part)

8:19 a.m. They are really giving George W. Bush high props on the transition and on his class.

8:22 a.m. Joe & Mika decry the low class booing and chanting that took place. Good!

8:24 a.m. Shirtsleeves in the White House. Pat notices, Mika likes it.

8:26 a.m. They mention that how Bush left with class while Bill Clinton still isn’t gone. Pat calls Bill Clinton “The most volatile cabinet spouse since Martha Mitchell”.

He’s not gone, He’s Never gone!

8:34 a.m. Erin Burnett says that Wesley Snipes should have run for Treasury secretary since you don’t have to pay your taxes if you do. She doesn’t like it and says so. This is a PERFECT example of the type of standing up I describe in this post. It’s the type that sticks with people.
