“Truth Matters” My interview with Liz Carter Ga-4

I wanted to get a comment from Liz Carter running in the Georgia 4th district against Hank “I’m not a geologist but I play one in the congress” Johnson. Her Chief of staff Cheryl Prater remembered me from CPAC (proving the Cannoli rule correct) and did me one better. Rather than a simple comment she graciously consented to give me an interview over the phone. It was VERY informative.

Before anything else it must be understood that this district GA-4 is rated Safe democratic according to GQ politics map. This is a majority-minority district that elected Cynthia McKinney so any Republican was going to have a tough time of it.

That was my first question: How could she win in such a district? She answered that the Healthcare bill had changed everything. Voters in the area were disgusted with the bill and how it was passed. I then asked her specifically about the comments of Doug Shulman, her thought in one word:

“Appalling!”

She reminded me of the promises that the changes wouldn’t hurt the middle class and pointed to the congressional leadership saying that feeling in her district was running 60-40 against the bill. Take another look at that GQ map and run that through your head.

The Clincher was the local NAACP event she attended in Rockville. She was greeted warmly by really great people. Their focus was all about solutions. The feeling is that congress went too far and were more interested in Power than in Service. Her own solutions and suggestions are on her site here. In our interview she stressed the idea of “Health Courts”, from her site:

Malpractice cases today are often won by emotion and who has the best attorney. By creating health courts, we remove emotion and allow opinions to be decided by those who understand the practice of medicine.

Even more incredible was their reaction concerning the Media. The were fed up with it, they concluded that they were not getting the true picture from the MSM. As they put it: “Truth Matters!”

If you are getting the NAACP deciding that the Mainstream media can’t be trusted then the seminal change I was discussing is upon us. The same issues, regardless of race, face all.

I asked about the Tea Party movement, it is active in the area and as CNN has discovered is not not the monochrome racists that the Democratic Leadership would have you believe. She said the democrats: “fundamentally think that people will forget”. She disagrees, the People aren’t stupid, and if the administration is foolish enough to push “immigration reform” (read Amnesty) it will be the final straw. The people are already ready to revolt, this will send them over the edge.

The one wild card is the democratic primary. There is a real chance that Mr. Johnson might not survive it. Vernon Jones in particular seems capable of knocking him off, but Liz declares she is ready for Johnson, Jones or anyone the Democrats have to offer.

In the short time I had she really impressed me. Take a peek at her blog and you will be impressed too. I’ve very happy for the people of GA-4 they have such an excellent choice to represent them.

A possible explaination for the NAACP

After looking at all those civil war weapons etc yesterday I was reminded of something from Ken Burns Masterpiece The Civil War that quoted a New York Tribune at the time:

It is not too much to say that if this Massachusetts 54th had faltered when it’s trial came two hundred thousand troops that for whom it was a pioneer would never have been put into the field…But it did not falter…

Then there is Jackie Robinson:

If Robinson failed, white owners, not to mention fans, who had resisted integrating baseball, would use his performance as “evidence” to support their stance. Every time he stepped on the field, Robinson strapped his race to his back and carried it on his journey with them.

Now we have President Barak Obama. He doesn’t have the experience or service record of a Charlie Rangel, or the moderate record of a Harold Ford Jr. He doesn’t have the civil rights background of a John Louis but he is the man in the White House.

In terms of experience and qualification any of the three men I’ve just mentioned are far superior to president Obama in every respect, but to an organization like the NAACP it doesn’t matter. Barak Obama is the first black president of the United States and the first black president (no matter who he would have been) can’t be allowed to fail for fear that Americans will consider a black man unqualified for the highest office in the land. And if Ken Gladney needs to be beaten, called a Nigger and put in his place to help prevent that failure so be it.

The problem is that they are looking at President Obama and what drives him backwards. He’s not a Black man who happened to be part of the Chicago Machine. He is a Chicago Machine Pol who happens to be black and THAT makes all the difference.

The tactics he uses and the items he supports are driven by that machine background. His race doesn’t mean squat, that’s why the Gladney story isn’t all over the news. If what happened to Gladney advances his goals, like a good machine pol he’s all for it.

Jim Crow meet Jimmi C

You know once upon a time the NAACP was a great organization that fought for the rights of Black people in a segregated world and helped propel a race that had languished into slavery to realize its full potential. Today Black Americans live better then Blacks in any country in Africa.

As documented in the soon to be released (aug 25) book A Mightly long way (my Amazon review here) the NAACP risked life and limb to protect people like Carlotta Walls Lanier from danger.

What a difference a couple of generations make.

Yesterday Black conservatives protested in front of the St. Louis office of the NAACP to protest their non response to the attacks on Ken Gladney back on the 6th.

Mind you this is a man who was beaten and called a Nigger by a white man, there is some raw film too and the news and film was spread on the net that very day. Nothing.

The response of the NAACP?

“The St. Louis branch of the NAACP will and does accept and investigate all written complaints filed with us, regardless of the complainant’s ideology,” said Claude Brown Sr., president of the St. Louis City NAACP. “We regret that a group has decided to protest outside our office before contacting us or filing such a complaint.”

I don’t recall reading about the written complaint from the young Miss Walls in that book.

You see the beater was a member of the SEIU sent out to help shore up support for Obamacare. As an Obama supporter he is exempt from the normal NAACP procedure.

If you read histories of Jim Crow over and over obscure rules were used to legally deny Black Americans their rights, extra hoops were made to be jumped through and if people managed to circumvent one rule another would appear to stand in their way. It was disgraceful.

In my opinion Jim Crow was the second of three great evils that the democratic party has supported in its long history.

It’s sad to say but the NAACP is using Jim Crow tactics here against a black man who doesn’t believe what they do. Jim Crow now meet Jimmi C. To call it a disgrace is too weak a word.

Thuggery is such a harsh word. But unambiguous, no?

She is referring to the debate and plan in particular but that’s what has me so riled up.

In Mrs. Lanier’s book she talks about how blacks and whites managed to co-exist, seemingly getting along but there was a price, blacks had to know their place. Once she didn’t know her place then all bets were off.

It seems to be that this is exactly what is going on here with Mr. Gladney. Let’s even make a concession to Wonkette and admit the possibility that Mr. Gladney is whoring this out for a buck or two. Even if that is true the message is still there, if you are a Black man in America your place is behind President Obama, if you get out of that place then we will treat you like we treated the Walls family back at Little Rock.

The left and the media are letting this go for political advantage. That is a historical obscenity and it makes me sick.
