This story at hot air:

Nearly half (47%) also say they are part of the religious right or conservative Christian movement. Among the more than 8-in-10 (81%) who identify as Christian within the Tea Party movement, 57% also consider themselves part of the Christian conservative movement.

Now it not a big secret that a lot of conservative religious people are part of the tea party but are focusing on the fiscal issues. However expect to see more things like this:

So we’re asking you to join the “Boston Catholic Tea Party” and help rid these upcoming conferences from “negative attitudes of the world” such as those the Holy Father alluded to. Today’s the day to start firing away!

Why might they want a tea party maybe this:

-The Boston Archdiocesan Social Justice Conference on October 9 is featuring Fr. James Massaro and Fr. Bryan Hehir, Secretary for Healthcare and Social Services . Fr. Massaro was one of 26 signatories to a highly-publicized 2009 letter supporting the nomination of pro-abortion Gov. Kathleen Sebelius as U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services. Sebelius vetoed pro-life legislation on four separate occasions as Kansas governor, prompting Kansas City Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann to ask she no longer receive Communion. Fr. Hehir’s nearly 40-year history undermining Church teachings includes his leadership of Catholic Charities when they brokered adoptions to gay couples and also when they honored the pro-abortion Mayor of Boston at a 2005 fundraiser in violation of U.S.C.C.B directives. Recently he:

Keynoted a conference along with a well-known “gay priests” advocate.
– Told an audience at a Boston College forum he was concerned Catholic conscience rights could harm the freedom of women to get abortions
– Praised the “intelligent and courageous leadership” of the Catholic Health Association immediately after they helped pass the Obama-backed healthcare legislation that was actively opposed by the U.S.C.C.B. because it allowed funding for abortions.

Inside Catholic has more:

This is a pet peeve of mine If you are going to be Catholic, be Catholic, if not then there are plenty of protestant denominations out there. Will we see a Catholic Tea Party rally in Boston on Oct 9th? It should be interesting to see.

I’m sorry I have no patience for this

This post is not going to make me any friends. I wasn’t going to blog on this subject but I read the first paragraph of this nonsense and I’m not going to let it stand:

What made Rutgers University freshman Tyler Clementi jump off of a bridge to his death?

With all due respect to his grieving family nothing made Tyler Clementi jump off a bridge but Tyler Clementi.

He was a talented young man going to a prestigious university in the greatest country in the world. Worldwide he was easily part of the 1% of winners in life’s lottery.

Yet with all his advantages when someone played a nasty prank on him he was so insecure that all despite he had going for him he decided to throw it away because he was embarrassed? Are you kidding me?

The world is a rough place and an unfair place. Tyler Clementi, wasn’t beaten like some who fall in the hands of the Taliban, He wasn’t starved like some children in Africa, he wasn’t a victim of the slave trade, subject to discrimination or stricken with an incurable disease. Like many young men his age he didn’t go to war and face the risks and horror of it and didn’t have to flee a country controlled by drug wars to come to America. He had no reason to fear for his life.

Yet one embarrassment was enough for him to throw it all away and you expect me to feel sorry for him and beat my breast? Give me a break!

It stinks that this man killed himself, he threw away a gift given to him by God. As the father of a young man in college the same age I can certainly relate to his parent’s pain but the idea that right now advocacy groups and pols are about to use a weak guy’s stupid decision to fund raise, appear holier than thou and advance their causes disgusts me.

They are using this man worse than the fools who filmed him did. Those people were college kids, what is the excuse of those advocacy groups full of adults?

It’s a tough thing to say but it is what it is. The person responsible for Tyler Clementi’s death is himself.

memorandum thread here.

Update: Cripes do Robert Stacy and I have the same brain or what?

As “Global Warming”/”Climate Change” crowd decides to go the full acorn and play naming games:

An administration that goes out of its way to make terrorism sound less dangerous than it really is (i.e. “man-caused disaster”) makes the push to sell “global warming” as more dangerous than it really is. Sounds like somebody’s starting to feel uncomfortable because the icecaps and Greenland ice sheets aren’t melting fast enough. Switching “warming” to “disruption” is like Chicken Little — finally realizing that everybody’s catching on — switching to crying “the ground is rising!”

Re-branding shams is standard operating procedure for this bunch. The first thing that’s usually done with a scheme that has been exposed is to fall back, re-name it, and present the same thing all over again under a different label. An example of that is ACORN switching its name to “Communities for Change” or any other number of things that didn’t sound like “ACORN.”

Unfortunately for the administration you have an electorate that is paying attention and informed these days and just aren’t going to fall for it. No wonder you have the Net Neutrality debate.

Update: Nice Deb sums it up in one sentence:

Libs wake up every morning and ask themselves, “How can we fool them, today?”

That’s about it.

…apparently he has decided that if the majority of voters in an election carried out according to law vote a particularly way and the results are certified as correct he will not commit to honor them.

I think it’s rather odd, after all if the voters elect him of course he should consider himself legally elected…

…oh sorry he’s talking about the Tax rollback initiative:

Governor Deval Patrick declined to say yesterday whether he would implement a tax rollback if the voters mandate it in November, pitting him against all three of his campaign rivals, who say they would abide by the referendum.

So lets get this straight, the will of the voters only counts if they are electing him. I didn’t realize the oath of office requires one to only enforce the laws you like.

This is a real pet peeve of mine, you enforce the laws, if they stink you change them. If you decide for example not to enforce say the immigration laws then who is to stop a different gov to not enforce the gun laws, or the equal housing laws?

If Gov Patrick is not ashamed of himself it’s only because liberal self righteousness trumps all, it’s a religion without a tax exemption…

…then again maybe I’m wrong about the tax exemption part

I think this is a whole lot more important that a stupid slip of the tongue.

and it deserves a memeorandum thread a lot more too
