…it’s because he agrees with me about “Lady” Gaga:

Lady Gaga is immensely talented. She’s a fantastic pianist, a gifted singer and an engaging performer. But that’s not why the mainstream media gives her so much attention. If she weren’t acting like a dime-store floozie, the alphabet networks would pay her little attention, relegating her to a life of smoky bars and indie record labels instead of sold-out arenas and platinum albums. When it comes to capturing the attention of mainstream media and liberal publications, there is but one simple truth: Perversion Sells.

Let’s emphasize his point with a picture from CPAC:

Like Lady Gaga the young lady in this photo (Jenny Erickson) from smart girl politics is talented at what she does. She manages to juggle interviews, her blog at the candid conservative and a husband and children. Unlike Lady Gaga she manages to be physically attractive just sitting there in this picture without debasing herself.

Lady Gaga will make incredible money from what she does, I presume Jenny and her husband get by. I don’t know her well but I suspect that given the choice between trading bank accounts and lifestyles Jenny will happily stay where she is.

If MSNBC wanted to overtake Cartoon Network in the ratings they would be well advised to offer Jenny a contract. Shana, the nice young lady who paid me one of the greatest complements I’ve ever received should suggest this to Joe Scarborough, maybe have her as a reoccurring guest on Morning Joe. I suspect they likely will not.

The fact is that if Lady Gaga however offered to be an occasional commentator on the show I’m sure the brass would jump at it. There is no question it would draw attention and ratings, particularly if she dresses the part. This is simple truth.

The fact that our culture and our media value a woman like Gaga over a woman like Jenny Erickson says something sad about us.

…that people know him because of his daughter.

There is a bit of ego in play but every parent loves to see their children succeed and even more so if they surpass them.

However much I think he is bollocks on the issues I really get a kick on seeing him on Morning Joe, you can see very much how proud both he is of his daughter and vice versa.

Politics come and go, arguments wax and wane, policies become stale, but in the end the it is that bond between a father and daughter. That is something that really matters in life.

If that sounds like sentimental pap to you…well I like sentimental pap.
Even more fun is the In fact the Miley Cyrus emphasizes it. Cyrus hit Mika for suggesting that pole dancing on an ice cream truck might not have been the best choice for a program that is being sold to pre-teen girls. Her defiant answer concluded thusly:

It’s funny. I don’t know if a lot of parents remember what they were like as kids. But I’m like, ‘Dude, as if you were an angel!

Zbigniew answered that she wasn’t always an angel and the look on her face was priceless.

BTW Miley you have certainly grown up. You are old enough to make a fool out of yourself. 50 million parents are shaking their heads and saying “You’ll see”.

Deeper meaning my …

I finally saw the video that shocked the Huffpo and somehow failed to discover the “deeper meaning” within.

There was a time when stuff like this was considered cutting edge and shocking, I found it boring and predictable.

Is it just me or is this Gaga woman one of the most unattractive women there is? She has the Nancy Pelosi botox look decades too early. 20/40? I don’t think she could make 3/5.

The sad thing is the song is actually not bad but the movie seems a cheap cross between Chained Heat and Thelma and Louise. I think the song was kinda an afterthought, but it will likely end up printing money for the all involved which is the object of the exercise.

A member of the 20/40 club with a much better taste in hats than Gaga disagrees. Although I share the love of diners I don’t know if “art” is the word for it, but that’s a matter for the eyes that see it.

Update: I do confess I have no experience and can tell you nothing about waiting by the phone for the guy to call. I can tell you a lot about making the call after the first date and being brushed off. I wouldn’t describe it as rage but writing about it years later it does bring back unpleasant memories.

We start our trip around my blogroll with a little coffee at Ruby Slippers, a blog I really should be linking to more often. Mary Sue had this to say about the Coffee parties that CNN was so impressed with:

So, just how strong were these coffee party gatherings? One might describe them as intimate. North Carolina had all of five people show up An estimated crowd of 3000 protested today in Minnesota. What’s a couple thousand people though? CNN reports the two groups have much more in common besides their group strength, that is. Do they now?

Well both groups are made up of carbon based life forms that are made in the image of God that depend on the intake of oxygen to survive and are named after breakfast beverages, but beyond that I don’t see much. It is simply a truism that any group of any size that supports a cause that the MSM agrees with is more newsworthy than any group 50,000 times as large that they do not. It’s why the media is slowing starting to resemble a salesman who can only sell his wares to relatives.

Over at Legal Insurrection Bill Jacobson finds that one little word that would have saved Eric Massa his seat:

Timing is everything. Only recently, when it became clear that a single vote in the House may be the difference, was there a whispering campaign and leaks about Massa.

Massa’s departure has made it easier for Nancy Pelosi to get the necessary votes because the vote will be that close. If Obamacare passes later this week, as Pelosi is predicting, the departure of Eric Massa may be the reason.

Eric Massa may be paranoid, but that does not change the truth that people in the Democratic Party who wanted to pass Obamacare really did hate him.

Ask yourself this question: If Eric Massa had announced that he would vote “Yes” on Obamacare, would he still be in Congress?

Does he mean to suggest that Nancy Pelosi and company might actually consider letting someone stay in congress who is undeserving just to gain a vote? Why that’s a shocking suggestion. If you believe that then you’d believe that democrats would allow someone with tax issues to be treasury secretary or allow a person with irregularities to chair an important financial committee.

Finally Big Hollywood notes Megan Mullally’s shock at Jay Leno’s decision to appeal to a segment of the population hitherto ignored by the Hollywood elites:

She recently blasted former Gov. Sarah Palin’s stand-up comedy debut on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” at movieline.com, mocking both Leno’s comedy bits and his attempt to woo conservative audiences.

“Could it be any more bald-faced that he’s going after the red states? It’s insane. It’s just right out there, full on … amazing. And she was wearing jeans [note: said with a drawn out snarl]. ‘I’m gonna wear denim! I’m gonna dress it down!’”

Sounds insane, all right. Why would the host of a popular late night show give a platform to a gorgeous, charismatic politician who appeals to a wide swath of viewers?

Yeah, having a best selling author who commands large audiences wherever she goes makes no sense. Does Jay actually think it will get him to #1 in late-night again? After all appealing to conservatives hasn’t done Fox any good in the ratings has it?
