Conservative activists are trying to oust three judges on the state Supreme Court whose unanimous ruling last year legalized same-sex unions. Their decision stunned opponents nationwide and delighted advocates who were eager for a victory in the heartland.

Why are supporters of Gay Marriage worried about this? It’s explained after the jump:

Gay rights groups have been less successful in the voting booth; in every state where the issue has been put on the ballot, voters have agreed to define marriage as exclusively between a man and a woman. emphasis mine

One can legitimately disagree on having elected vs appointed judges, both systems have advantages and disadvantages, but to get all in a huff because an elected official is being held accountable for actions in an elected office is just nonsense and highlights the disrespect and disdain the elites have with the voters in general and apparently our republican system in particular

is the title of my Latest examiner column. It concerns the events surrounding the Firebombing of Russ Carnahan (D) MO-3 office and the ensuing media firestorm media silence :

Russ Carnahan is a 3 term Democratic congressman representing the Missouri 3rd district. Unlike his two previous campaigns where he won over 65% of the vote, the bad economy, the unpopular healthcare plan and the tea party movement has put Mr. Carnahan in the political fight for his life.

On August 16th his office in St. Louis was firebombed

As you can guess despite the media template the suspect is in fact a man of the left

The story in fairness is really gateway pundit’s who has been all over it.

Camp of the saints was kind enough to already link even before this post made it up saying:

A good example of this was when the Times Square Bomb Plot was discovered and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg immediately speculated that someone or ones opposing Obamacare were behind it. As we now know, it was a Jihadist who was the plotter.

Another example of the Left blaming the Right without justification was when that Census worker was found dead in Kentucky. Turned out [sadly for the Bolshes] that it was a suicide.

We’re used to this dishonorable and disgusting behavior from the Left and methinks we’re all developing thick skins and long memories [I certainly hope the latter is true — forgiveness is a fine and admirable thing, but never, ever forget the calumnies hurled against you by your enemies].

And if we weren’t already in full irony overload mode we have the Manhattan Borough president proclaiming on Fox the guilt of the tea parties hours after the Politico reported the opposite and US NEWS reporting death threats against Freedom Works.

In an infinite universe mathematics tells us sooner or later the media will actually find an actual example of Tea Party violence but it would seem to me we ought to classify the media and leftist belief in the “violent tea party” as a religion that way it can be a matter of faith rather than reason. (Sola MSNBC?)

I can’t wait for the day when this kind of thing will surprise me again.

Ah there is nothing quite like the tolerant left

Politico reports on the Democrats latest paean to open mindedness and tolerance:

Last summer, Democrats argued that the Tea Party movement was the astroturf creation of corporate groups. Now that the grass-roots conservative resurgence has emerged as a clear force on the right, the left is making a different case: That tea parties are simply the enemy.

To that end, the Agenda Project, a new, progressive group with roots in New York’s fundraising scene and a goal of strengthening the progressive movement, has launched the **** Tea project (full censorship mine but it rhymes with “Duck”)

Ah the left still trying to shut down an authentic grass roots movement. Gateway notes the progression:

First the left introduced the Coffee Party.
Then they introduced the Cocoa Party.
Then last month the left came out with yet another astroturfed group to counter the tea party… “One Nation.”

Perhaps these groups all failed because they, unlike the tea party, were actually AstroTurf groups?

With this new group and the T(ea?)-Shirts that go with it they might be able to get a few sales from the college crowd or people who like to say **** but if this is the big plan of democrats they these guys are finished. One more note:

The new project, so far, features merchandise, polling statistics aimed to paint Tea Party members as ignorant, and a mocking video.

Well I have video upon video upon video upon video, upon video, upon video, upon video (you get the picture) of ACTUAL tea party protesters and ACTUAL tea party members giving their actual unrehearsed opinions so your mocking stuff is just another pathetic attempt to attack Americans you can’t win an argument with.

I have paid no attention to the Palin “eyeroll” story …

…nor have I given any attention to the Levi Johnston tell all book story. Ace describes it as shocking, balderdash Ace balderdash, it is no more shocking than the feeding frenzy over this video.

Why? Because both represent the fact that Sarah Palin represents hits and profit. Every time Sarah Palin is mentioned on a blog it produces hits, in a book it produces sales, on the TV it produces ratings.

True the media/left is desperate to discredit her in any way possible and this lamest of latest attempt would shame an actual adult if they didn’t understand or were paid based on the understanding that she is a ratings/sales machine for right and left and leftist “journalists” (or maybe in this case “journolists” gotta eat in a lean economy.

If this is the story that rises to the top of memeorandum (and warrants a Newsweek article, no wonder the whole mag is worth less than a double cheeseburger at Burger king) it is simply testimony affirming the inability of the left to cope with Sarah Palin on any level.

Simple abject fear. Since they can’t beat her at least they’ll get some hits off her.

There are so many memeorandum threads I don’t know which one to pick?

My suggestion? Skip em all!

Update: And remember the occasional positive side effect not withstanding Sullivan’s syndrome is spread by contact!
