One of the true hallmarks of elitists on the political left is a manifest desire to control all aspects of the lives of those they consider to be the common folk.  They do not believe that the “great unwashed masses” are capable of deciding for themselves.  Unfortunately elitist leftists now make up a very large segment of the Democrat Party, academia, and the media.

For many decades these leftists here in the United States have been attempting to gain control of all aspects of life here.  During the Wilson, FDR, and Obama administrations they came close to gaining control.

Emergencies, whether spontaneously occurring or man made,  have always been seen by the left as handy tools to seize control.  President Obama’s Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel infamously stated “Never let a crisis go to waste.”   Rahm was not the first to utter those sentiments.  Leftists have been living by them for centuries.  Thomas Jefferson and a few other founding fathers warned about tyrannical governments using emergencies to strip rights and liberties away from individuals.  They warned that once this process has begun it is extremely difficult to stop and nearly impossibly to reverse.

F A Hayek, who wrote the Road to Serfdom, warned us about the dangers of letting governments use emergencies strip the liberty away from individuals when he wrote this in Law, Legislation and Liberty volume 3

Emergencies’ have always been the pretext on which the safeguards of individual liberty have been eroded — and once they are suspended it is not difficult for anyone who has assumed such emergency powers to see to it that the emergency persist.

Ever since the Coronavirus pandemic began leftists worldwide and here in the United States have imposed lockdowns, mask mandates, and vaccine mandates on their populations.  All of these measures destroy the individual liberty of everyone who is affected by them.  Far too few individuals have stood up against these liberty destroying measures.  This is especially true here in the United States, which is quite shocking to me because individual liberty is at the very foundation the United States.

Here in the United States we have enjoyed a brief respite from these odious liberty destroying restrictions because the number of cases, hospitalizations, and deaths from the Coronavirus dropped and remained remarkably low for a couple of months.

Thanks to a wave new cases cause by the scary sounding Delta Variant Democrat controlled cities, counties, and one state so far have begun again mask mandates and lockdowns despite far less hospitalizations and deaths from this variant.   If you dispute this claim check out this article, and this article, and this article.

If we do not stop this now there will be a never ending cycle of lockdowns and mandates.  We will never get back to truly normal life.   We have to stop complying with these mandates. Our compliance is what is keeping them going.  We have to organize mass protests and mass civil disobedience immediately or we will never see the end of this nightmare.

Batman 407

This panel from this classic comic is the first thing I thought of when I read this story:

Adam Housley tweeted that he is being told the increased pressure on the scientific community to be open to and to review the theory that the China coronavirus was made in a laboratory in recent days is due to a defector with intimate knowledge bringing intel to the US that the coronavirus was leaked from a lab in Wuhan.

Corrupt FBI Director Wray didn’t know right away because lower-level FBI Agents wanted to make sure they got all they needed before telling him.  Note those in the FBI do not trust Director Wray so they kept this from him as long as possible.

I was wondering how the narrative had changed so fast and how the media, particularly social media was so willing to turn on a dime, it seems they wanted to get out ahead of this.

Alas for Dr. Fauci the book publishers were not in on this intelligence when they launched their campaign.

Here is the base tweet:

And the summery:

President Trump wasted no time calling for reparations from China:

Former President Donald Trump on Thursday blasted infectious disease expert and White House medical adviser Anthony Fauci for early misinformation on the coronavirus pandemic  — and demanded China pay the United States $10 trillion for ”the death and destruction they have caused.”

I suspect the elites have already gotten their reparations from China for helping to keep the rest of us in the dark.

You see I suspect the problem for the left/media here is the same one that existed in the Harvey Weinstein business. It’s one thing when everybody knows that’s OK when “everybody” is defined as the insider crowd. But if “everybody” includes the public, now we have a problem. As Sir Humphrey put it:

Bernard Woolley: I just found out the most terrible thing Sir. Humphrey.

Sir Humphrey: Oh Dear me.

Bernard: This contract was obtained by bribery

Sir Humphrey: Of course. All contracts in Kumran are obtained by bribery everybody knows that. It’s perfectly alright as long as nobody knows.

Bernard: Shouldn’t we tell the minister?

Sir Humphrey: Certainly not.

Bernard: But if everybody knows…

Sir Humphrey: Everybody else knows. Do not let a minister know what everybody else knows.

Yes Prime Minister: The Moral Dimension 1982

Remember Harvey Weinstein wasn’t expendable to the left until the public knew what the elites already did.

I predict that we will not see Dr. Fauci long in this government as the usefulness of this particular idiot to the elites is about to end.

SHREVEPORT – As an avid and constant reader, I decided to do the Reading Challenge on Goodreads again this year; last year I set the lofty goal of 100 books and missed the mark with 63 out of 100 books.

This year, because of the pandemic, probably, I did better. I set a lower goal of 75 books and so far I’ve read 82. I’ll probably be at 83 by the end of the year.

Currently I am reading Wuhan Diary by Fang Fang, which is the collected dispatches, or posts, from the renown Chinese author during the 76 days of the Wuhan lockdown. While most of us are tired of Covid, tired of reading about Covid, and tired of all things Covid, I am enjoying the book.

To me, it is interesting to see what it was like in Wuhan in the days after the pandemic broke. Fang Fang’s frustration with the situation is evident and she is well aware that the government censors are reading and taking down her posts. Her readers would screenshot the posts and share them via text message to each other, and in many ways she became the voice of the pandemic in Wuhan as people in lockdown were starved for information that was not filtered for them.

Her frustration with the initial position that the virus is not contagious from person to person is clear. She does not mince words, despite the censors. As the lockdown in Wuhan drags on, it has been interesting to read how neighbors worked together to supply each other with fresh food, medicines, and supplies.

The book also shows that we are not all that different; Fang Fang loses many friends and colleagues to the virus; she deals with the same problems we all have: shortages, misinformation, isolation.  She worries a great deal about the mental health issues that result from the lockdown and she worries about the marginalized who cannot get medical treatment, especially in the earlier days before the temporary hospitals were constructed.

She also has very relatable problems, like running out of dog food. (She cooked rice for her dog when this happened.)

Sometimes she even challenges the censors. She wants to be seen as a witness, not necessarily a critic. As a result, her voice is honest, and heartbreakingly real.

I’m not finished with the book yet, but I do recommend it. Somehow it seems fitting to end this year of the pandemic with Wuhan Diary.
