The Pennsylvania chaos

The presidential election in Pennsylvania, long considered one of the pivotal states in the process, is likely to be an unmitigated mess.

In a process created by Democrats, the election has the probability of being hampered by a new mail-in ballot procedure that may take three days to count after the election.

The hottest topic in my Democrat-controlled neighborhood is the number of people who haven’t gotten their mail-in ballots.

To demonstrate how cumbersome the process can be, Democrats, who are depending on this new initiative to get more of their supporters to vote or to obtain a greater ability to get fraudulent votes, have been flooding the airwaves with instructions on how to complete a mail-in ballot.

First, you need to get your ballot before today. Second, you have to mark the ballot carefully. Third, you place the ballot inside one envelope and then put that envelop inside a second envelope before signing and dating the outside.

Leave it to Democrats to devise such a disorganized system!

Even Democrat supporters warn that the complex process may result in as many as 100,000 votes may be ruled invalid.

Democrats appear to be the ones most likely to use the mail-in process, which may bode well for President Trump, who won the state by just over 44,000 votes in the last election.

But the process also could result in more fraudulent votes being counted. At least the courts ruled that people can only submit their own ballots—not those of others as the Democrats had wanted.

The process proved so cumbersome in the primary that several elections took days to determine what had happened.

In a letter to state legislative leaders, Philadelphia elections chief Lisa Deeley said that the new system might result in “electoral chaos” and a “significant post-election legal controversy, the likes of which we have not seen since Florida in 2000.”

Earlier this month, the state’s election computers went off line for 40 hours.

County elections officials and voters have regularly complained about a variety of problems with the Pennsylvania Department of State’s voter services website and the state’s voter database, which officials use to process registrations and ballot applications.

At times this year, the system has slowed to a crawl or come to a complete halt, leaving election offices unable to register voters or process ballot requests.

Whatever the case, the Pennsylvania results might be decided in a courtroom rather than a ballot box.

President Trump had it right when he said that something bad is happening in Pennsylvania.

Jake Tapper 4 years later, Avoiding the Blame

Four years ago Hillary Clinton had an episode at a Sept 11th event,

CNN went into full spin mode during “Reliable Sources” however directly following the show Jake Tapper took over and played it as straight news for two hours which allowed the story to reach the MSM even when CNN went back to full denial mode once he was off again. As I wrote months later:

I submit and suggest none of this breaks into the MSM if either CNN decides to play the repeat of Tapper at noon that day or Jake decides to play down the incident as Reliable Sources did before him and the rest of the CNN team did after he got off the air.  This was breaking news happening on a Sunday where people were available and would naturally switch to CNN to find out about breaking news and there was Jake Tapper, the single most trusted reporter on that station playing it straight.

Now my fellow conservative writers and bloggers can argue that this moment doesn’t cancel out Jake Tapper’s anti-Trump obsession for the last year and I’m sure they will make plenty of fine points 90% of which that I might agree with.

But for my money none of that can happen if Tapper decides to tow the Hillary Campaign line during those critical two hours.  Even Hillary voters understood that she was dishonest but the idea that she might not be up to being President physically was established that day and it was Jake Tapper who did it.

Well it’s four years later and the Biden laptop story is now being censored by Facebook and Twitter, in fact it’s been so back the New York Post is still locked out of their Twitter account and several people were censored for trying to tweet it out.

And while Jake Tapper has commented on the censorship without directly referencing the story

I have seen very little if anything on the actual story from Mr. Tapper but he’s had this to say via The Other McCain:

Stacy had this to say:

What evidently set Tapper off was that Trump brought up Hunter Biden’s “laptop from hell”:

“Trump and his allies in the media and the members of his family and the Trump allied websites and such are leveling with charges so heinous I’m not going to say them, just nonsense, crap, tied into QAnon, tied into pizzagate, tied into the worst things you could say about a person.”

Who thinks this way? And why do they think this way?

Trump Derangement Syndrome — for Tapper and others in the media echo chamber, November 8, 2016, is a Date That Will Live in Infamy. That scene in the Javitz Center, the agonized disbelief that the American people had rejected Hillary Clinton? They’re still not over it. They’ll never be over it, just like Ted Striker will never be over Macho Grande.

Stacy is right but there is more to it then that.

I think that Jake Tapper hasn’t gotten over the idea that his reporting that day allowed that story to break out and in the back of his mind he wonders if that made the difference in election 2016.

Because of this even though we have on the record people stating that the Hunter Biden laptop is real and that the “Russian disinformation” angle is BS Tapper isn’t going to go near it because he doesn’t want to be the mainstream media person that allows this story to be let into the MSM bubble and thus force the media to cover it in any way.

Because I guarantee that on November 4th and beyond the violent Democrat / Hollywood / Media left will be looking for people to blame and he has no intention of taking the rap.

Closing thought: Given what I’ve seen over the last four years I submit and suggest that if Mr. Tapper had not been positive that Donald Trump had no chance of winning in 2016 he does not play the news concerning Hillary Clinton’s health episode straight.

The Election Novena for America

Bearing in mind our nation’s challenges and the need for wise, moral, civic leadership, the USCCB is offering an electronic Election Novena to help Catholics form their consciences as they prepare for the upcoming election.

For nine consecutive days, Monday, October 26 through Tuesday, November 3, participants will be encouraged to pray one Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be for the day’s intention. A closing prayer for elected leaders will be offered on day 10, Wednesday, November 4. On this page, you can find the daily intentions, signup to receive the novena intentions daily by email, and download graphics for each day’s intention for use on social media.

Report from Louisiana: Sticking our heads in the sand

SHREVEPORT – Louisiana is a land of many quirky laws, and leave it to our state legislators to pull out one of those to force an end to Governor John Bel Edwards public health emergency executive orders.

House Republicans have been chafing over the mask mandate for months, along with many of the other restrictions put in place by Governor Edwards on crowd sizes and which businesses can open and under what capacity.

At the end of the special legislative session last week, House GOP lawmakers used a petition against these orders to have them nullified.

From KATC news:

A statement from the house reads, “At no time since the start of the pandemic has the governor taken meaningful steps to address legislative concerns in any substantive way,” the release states. “The Legislature will make no apologies for simply standing up for the people we collectively represent. The House has exhausted every available legislative remedy and has been left with no other option but to exercise its legislative right to terminate the Governor’s emergency order.”

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landy issued the following statement:

“The emergency powers act and the emergency health powers act are written to outline what extraordinary powers are granted to the Governor during a declared emergency. A termination clause is included outlining a simple process for pressing the stop button. Immediately upon termination, the emergency powers cease and the Governor’s powers revert to the ordinary powers afforded the Governor as outlined by our Constitution and laws. The termination process is effective immediately, unless provided otherwise in the petition, when a petition is signed by a majority of the surviving members within either body of the Legislature, the Senate or the House. The termination of emergency powers does not require any additional action other than the signed petition. Upon completion of the signed petition, the Governor is directed to issue a proclamation informing the public of the termination.”

And so, controversy continues.

State Representative Alan Seabaugh spoke with KEEL Radio News, saying:

“A petition signed by a majority of members can end the public health emergency at any time,” Seabaugh says, referring to the process invoked, “Essentially, we’ve ended the public health emergency. John Bel (Edwards) doesn’t want to acknowledge that we have that power. He said at his news conference Friday, ‘I’m not going to give up my power.’ Well, it’s not his power, it’s our power (and) we gave it to him and we took it back.”

Governor Edwards calls the petition and lifting of restrictions reckless, and said “You know burying heads in the sand and just pretending that COVID isn’t a problem, isn’t going to help.”

With cases expected to rise in the coming cooler months, many are worried about the lifting of restrictions, but at the same time, people are weary of the mask mandate, the limited access to businesses, and business owners themselves are paying the price with decreased revenue. Many have had to shut down.

Governor Edwards is not expected to sign an acknowledgment of this petition and so the restrictions are still actually in place until he does, but it’s clear that we are now in some murky, gray legal area. If you are a bar owner, and you stay open after 11:00 p.m. and operate at full capacity, will you be shut down or not?  Stay tuned.
