Scripture talks about Jesus sending out his disciples to preach the good news. Here is the passage in Luke:

He summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal (the sick). He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there. And as for those who do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them.” Then they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the good news and curing diseases everywhere.

We are informed that season 3 of the Chosen depicts this and shows the disciples preaching on their own. Since scripture does not specify WHICH disciples paired off during this time Dallas Jenkins was able to choose his own pairings. This is how he did it.

  • John and Thomas
  • Peter and Judas
  • Matthew and Simon the Zealot
  • Big James (John’s Brother) and Little James
  • Nathanael and Thaddeus
  • Andrew (Simon Peter’s Brother) and Phillip

The parings are interesting. It is in John’s Gospel where Thomas’ doubting is mentioned, John is portrayed in the show as very emotional while Thomas is very calculating. That clash will be interesting as will Thomas’ and John’s reaction when they start healing people and driving out demons.

Peter and Judas is an even more interesting paring in the sense that both are huge at the time he was crucified. Both of them betray Jesus after the last supper, Judas by delivering him to his enemies and Peter by denying him before others. The Gospel specifies that Judas realized what he had done and it drove him to suicide, while it doesn’t specify what happened with Peter in terms of going back to the disciples. Imagine if Peter had simply run away in shame or if Judas had, like Peter gone back to the disciples and repented. There would be cathedrals to “St. Judas the repentant” all over the world while Peter would be considered a coward. For the two of them working together gives the chance to emphasize that any of us could go in either direction.

Simon Z and Matthew is, next to Judas and Peter the most interesting pairing. The Zealot deep into scripture who would have killed a tax collector without a second thought and the Tax Collector who at the call of Christ left it all to follow him. The interactions between the pair has great dramatic potential and like Thomas Matthew’s reactions to miracles when he himself performs them has drama written all over it.

The contrast between Big and Little James physically has a lot of potential. The idea that both will be healing people while Little James has a malady (one not mentioned in scripture btw) is another potential for drama the whole “physician heal thyself” but the real story is going to be John’s brother who we will be seeing for the first time without John. Those interactions should be interesting.

Nathanael and Thaddeus will be interesting simply because we haven’t seen a lot of either. This gives plenty of leeway for the creative team. An architect and a stone mason should get along like a house afire and complement each other quite a bit. Add to that Thaddeus being one of the first disciples (at least per the show) and Nathanael being 10th coming in only before Simon the Zealot & Judas and you have a lot to work with.

Finally we have Andrew and Phillip which would seem to me the least interesting pairing of the group. Both were followers of John the Baptist, both were well known to each other and in terms of this kind of preaching they would be the two most experienced. Of course Andrew has been portrayed as very high strung while Phillip is portrayed as the calmest of the crew and most comfortable in this life. Given that we’ve already seen previews of Andrew and Philip being kicked out of at least one village it does have potential, specifically in terms of trusting the message.

We don’t know how many episodes these travels will entail, I would think you would need at least two or three to cover it all and that doesn’t even talk about:

  1. The interaction of the women who are not traveling
  2. What Jesus is doing during this time

Again none of this is specified in scripture so how it is played should be interesting to see. What I want to know is how they are going to handle Jesus sending out the 72.

I Guess We Skeptics Were Right

Those of you who think the vaccine kills people can use me as a testIf I die, you were right. If I don’t die, and have no ill effects, you were wrong, and should admit it (at least to yourselves). Better yet, you should admit that you were misled, and tell the world who misled you, so other people can benefit by avoiding those fear mongers.

It’s no secret that the Navy, like the other military services, has paid attention to race and gender when it comes to promotions. This is captured through a variety of fields in an officer’s official record, as well as through an official photograph of the officer that is presented at any selection board. The picture requirement was originally removed in 2016 but reinstated in 2018 by NAVADMIN 265/18:

This NAVADMIN cancels reference (a) and reinstates the requirement
to display the Official Photograph for all Officer Selection Boards. This
policy change is the result of board feedback received since the removal of
the photograph requirement that the photographs aid the board’s ability to
assess the Title 10 requirements of an officer’s ability to perform the
duties of the next higher grade.
NAVADMIN 265/18

If you are skeptical how a photo helps a board member assess whether Naval Officers can execute Title 10 requirements, you’re not alone. Maybe Navy Officers need to double as Instagram models? Maybe Public Affairs got tired of submitting photos of ugly officers that couldn’t measure up to Taylor Kitsch and Rhianna? Or maybe it was a way of weeding out people that checked “Other” on the ethnicity list? I’ll let you decide.

At least the Navy did this in the background. Truth be told, evaluating your selection results to ensure nobody is discriminated against isn’t a bad thing. But its a slippery slope to quotas, and given the number of people lobbying for such a setup, its no surprise that it finally happened.

Courtesy of MyNavyHR, here are the statistics from the O-6 (Captain) promotion board conducted this year:

I’ve only copied the first page here, which covers 1110 (Surface Warfare), 1120 (Submarines), 1130 (SEAL), 1140 (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), and 13XX series (Aviation). Follow the link to get the rest of the 17 pages that cover other specialized communities.

I think the most frustrating part here is that this tells White Males that you have no background that the board cares about. Whether you came from difficult circumstances, are second-generation immigrants from Eastern Europe, or otherwise had some difficulty to overcome, none of that matters. You’re not the right color. Your background and story don’t matter.

I can’t recommend entering the Navy, especially the officer corps, while this nonsense continues. Between reducing the retirement and other benefits, non-stop wars designed to prop-up the military industrial complex paid on the backs of young men and women, or the increasing use of the military for dumb political stunts, its simply not worth it to join. This proves that even if you join with the intention of changing things, you won’t make it to the higher ranks to do so.

The only real chance for change is a change in President and an absolute evisceration of the membership at the top of the Pentagon. You can probably cut the Admiralty it in half without many problems, given the ratio of admirals to ships nowadays. You’ll need to deeply cut and remove a large chunk of the Pentagon and HR staff that pushes these sort of policies. Most importantly, and perhaps the hardest part, will be restoring our nation’s confidence that we select the best officers to place in harm’s way when the nation needs them the most.

Tom Hagen: Right now we have the unions and we have the gambling and those are the best things to have. But narcotics is a thing of the future. If we don’t get a piece of that action we risk everything we have. Not now, but ten years from now.

The Godfather 1972

A few years back 2016 to be precise I wrote a piece called: The Ghastly Tom Hagen Math Behind the Democrat response to Orlando where I wrote the following:

Right now the left has the Gays and the Transgenders and the Hollywood elites & media in which they are overrepresented and they figure that’s the best things to have, but in America Islam is a thing of the future.  In 20 years the children of Muslims now being raised on the tenets of Sharia law in America will be old enough to vote and Democrats going to make sure they get those votes when the time come, not now but 10-20 years from now.

Well the first real manifesting of this turned out in the city of Dearborn Michigan when the Democrat woke LGBT agenda clashed with Muslim parents who don’t want that stuff pushed on their kids:

A school board meeting in Dearborn, Michigan, had to be shut down when a mostly Muslim crowd of parents (with some Christians as well) became outraged by what appeared to be resistance by the school board to their demand that various books advocating the queer agenda be removed from the public school libraries.

Twitchy notes how this has caused a bunch of confusion for the left:

Remember when Attorney General Merrick Garland, Biden’s Department of Justice and the FBI allegedly targeted parents as terrorists for showing up and speaking out at school board meetings? That era may be over, as a result of a breakdown in the left’s system of intersectionality. You see, for the left, it’s fine to call a bunch of mostly white and suburban parents racists and terrorists, but when Muslim parents start showing up and protesting the same issues, things get… difficult.

This tweet says it all:

This is a crisis for the left who has completely embraced the Groomer agenda but doesn’t want to risk alienating the growing Muslim population.

the chant “Vote them out!” that closed the meeting is not merely a chant, it is a clear prediction. When next this school board comes up for election expect the large Muslim community of Dearborn to run its own slate, and expect that slate to win handily. Expect that victory to force major changes in the curriculum at the city’s public schools, including if necessary the removal of many administrators and staff.

When the time to make a choice comes, do not doubt for one second that the Groomer LGBTQ agenda will go under the bus because the last thing the Democrats want is the growing Muslim population voting for the GOP due to the culture wars.
