I’ll wager they will sell out in a day

At about 3:20 p.m. today my oldest son sat down to each an early supper since he had to work tonight at 5. He then told me something he had seen on the Life Dr. Who and Combom site concerning the Royal Mint coming out with Dr. who coins.

I checked out the Royal mint site and sure enough they have medals of base medal coins of the <a href=”http://www.royalmint.com/store/Medals/DRWDTBU.aspx”>10th doctor, K9 and the Daleks for £9.95 each (about $16.41 each. I also noticed that they had Silver medals of the Doctor and the Daleks at £35 ( 57.75 each) and a full Gold medal of the Doctor and the Daleks at £150 each ($247.50)

The Silver medals are limited to 5000 each and the Gold to 500. causing me to regret not having large sums of disposable income because they will turn over VERY quickly.

I gave a call to the mint and the lady there told me that they were absolutely swamped. They hadn’t even gotten the medals in the the computer system yet so all the orders were on paper. I picked up 2 each of the base metal ones and one each of the silver. Can’t afford the gold which is a shame because I don’t think they will last past tomorrow if even.

Like the 1st year issue quarter sovereigns if I was working I would have picked up a few to sit on but I can’t justify the expense without work and don’t want to teach my kids speculation when money is tight.

If you want some for yourselves I wouldn’t wait for the day to end.

Recipie: Semi Stuffed Boneless Chicken Breast

I made this up last week when I was trying to figure out what to cook for supper:

Ingredients:

2 Boneless Chicken Breasts split
1 pkg Stove Top Stuffing (Chicken Flavor)
8 slices slab bacon
2 tbl spoons of ANGUS Seasoning Blends Herb Garlic & Pepper
4 tbl spoons of Bella Rosa Fresh Shredded Parmesan Cheese

Preparations:

Preheat oven to 380 degrees. Grease pan
Prepare 1/2 package of Stove-top stuffing per package instructions BUT increase amount of water by 50% Put aside. Cut raw bacon slices in half

Directions:
Arrange chicken Breasts top side down in pan. With straight edge knife cut a slit down the center of the chicken breast about 1/4″ deep making sure not to cut all the way through.

Spice with Angus seasoning. Spoon in stove top stuffing to about 3/4 of the cut. Take bacon slice and insert over the cavity in the shape of an X tuck the center of the bacon into the stuffing & cavity. Spoon remaining stuffing over bacon. Re-spice with remaining Angus blend. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top.

Bake on top rack for 45 minutes. Serves 4

Note if you are baking potatoes with this you can have the oven as hot as 400 degrees if so slightly increase water content on stuffing.

Yes I know a lot is going on in NY-23 and elsewhere…

…but it’s game night we are playing D & D and a revolt will take place if I ignore the game too much.

No it isn’t the old Milton Bradley game (which was and IS excellent) but it is a PBS/MIT documentary about the Anglo Dutch Wars (well the 2nd and 3rd anyway)and some of the key battles of them.

As one of my heroes is Michael De Ruyter my accidental finding of this show was simply wonderful.

I can’t recommend it enough for anyone who enjoys history in general and the history of fighting sail in particular. This is a period of history very much ignored in the US. Check your PBS listings and don’t ignore this one.

PBS’ Broadside, catch it!
