The corner notices some interesting wordplay on the MSNBC site in a story by Courtney Hazlett:
There’s been plenty of speculation that Levi Johnston, the father of Tripp, Sarah Palin’s first acknowledged grandchild, has been giving interviews to the likes of Larry King and Tyra Banks so that he can land an endorsement or modeling deal.
The line has been rather sloppily removed from the main MSNBC site but it still lives on via sites that syndicated it and haven’t edited the copy, such as here here and here.
Now unless Miss Hazlett has been drinking Andrew Sullivan’s koolaid I think an explanation is in order; what made her decide on that word when this was written? What evidence if any did you have to suggest that there is another grandchild out there. This should be done preferably on Morning Joe.
Because you can have so much fun if you choose to add the word “acknowledged” to any conversation concerning Courtney Hazlett. The mind boggles! Particularly during the morning joe liveblogging.
Miss California this is also what faith look like.

Miss California Carrie Prejean proves that just because you wear a bikini doesn’t mean you can’t defend your faith:
Miss California Carrie Prejean, who became the bombshell of the Miss USA pageant by saying gay couples should not be allowed to marry, said Sunday that her state sponsors urged her to apologize afterward but she rejected the advice.
Prejean, 21, said officials from the Miss California USA pageant were worried that her comments would cost their contest financial backing and tried to prepare her for a string of post-pageant media interviews by discouraging her from discussing her religious beliefs.
After all we can’t have people talking about her faith, but Miss California nixed that:
If anything, Prejean has solidified her stance in the last week. McPherson, who preaches against homosexuality, has been acting as her adviser and encouraging her to use her newfound fame to persuade other evangelical Christians to share their views, even if they are unpopular.
“I learned that God has a bigger crown than any man can give you,” she said.

You need to not talk about your faith. For those who think of beauty pageants as anachronisms for young women in an era of liberation, doesn’t this speak volumes about the attitudes of the organizers? Just shut up and look pretty, even if people are attacking you.
I am really surprised that more feminists are not defending her. Mika seems to be but that’s all I’ve heard on the left. Is it the religious faith? Or is it a question of Sex, that is the “exploitative nature” of beauty patients, too much worry about being sexy on film to gain the notice? Who knows?
If her popularity continues you should expect to see photoshoped Miss California sex photos and a Larry Flynt XXX parody movie any day now…

The captain has talked to the commander of the American Legion after meeting with Secretary Napolitano and apparently she has gotten the message:
Napolitano offered a much more complete apology for the accusation in the DHS report on right-wing extremism that came out earlier this month. He believes that Napolitano will withdraw that report in favor of a better, more specific, and narrower report on actual threats.
Although this news is quite welcome what followed was much more important:
I also asked him whether the Obama administration appears to have learned from this and the previous controversy over medical coverage of service-related injuries and illnesses, and he graciously acknowledged that they do seem to be learning — and to want to learn.
Part of a good administration is to learn from mistakes and act accordingly. Political victory is nice but an administration that does right by our vets is even better.
