On twitter this week I noticed a discussion on pot and found myself retelling the story of visiting the school where my wife worked as school nurse 20 years ago and the big chart with the human body on it and pointing to all the various functions that Pot impaired or damaged. All of that science is still valid but during the discussion something hit me.

I’ve often argued that our foes decided during the Reagan Years that they couldn’t outspend us so they decided that they would instead of strictly investing in weapons they would invest in our institutions because people were cheaper to buy and lasted longer. An examination of our higher and even high school educational system suggests today suggests our foes dollars were well spent.

But I also wonder if they invested in the pushes to legalize Pot to grant us all the social and general societal problems that a culture where a good sized percentage of the population is stoned. This might sound odd but I noticed one thing in my research…

…none of our enemies have made pot legal in their countries, NONE!

Just a coincidence I’m sure.

I was going through my archives for my tribute piece for former DaTechGuyblog writer Christopher Harper who died last month and I found myself revisiting the days after the assassination attempt on Donald Trump and the media reaction to it.

They seemed completely taken aback that we had such outrage over it and were even more put out by any suggestion that their rhetoric had anything to do with it.

Six months into his term we find that the Democrats have normalized violence to such a degree that if Trump was shot tomorrow you would have members of the press saying, “He had it coming.” without any shame.

And people wonder why Trump isn’t giving these bastards a pass this term.

If you’re a conservative you might have watched one of the many videos of the left on election night going from the anticipation of victory to the agony of defeat.

There is a lot of snickering watching it but there is one part that really jumps out at me that nobody seems to talk about.

Early in the day they kept stressing the indicators that Kamala was going to win the day and that Trump was in huge trouble and that particularly Hispanics were abandoning him etc etc etc and as soon as real number came out suddenly pivoted to “we always knew it would be close”

How is it that none of the “conservatives” at the table called out the folks for literally pivoting on a dime from a desired lie to the facts on the ground within just a few hours?

I really can’t see how anyone considers anything these people say even the least bit credible.

As you might know Donald Trump will be meeting with Putin this week in Alaska to discuss ending the war in Ukraine.

There is a lot of talk, most of it just noise, concerning this meeting but there is one disadvantage that Trump has that nobody seems to be bringing up.

While both Ukraine and Russia have reason to want the war to end the reality is the one thing both Putin and Zelenskyy have in common is this: Neither of them is anxious to give Donald Trump a victory on the international stage such as achieving a peach deal would generate.

It’s really possible, I might even say probable that one or BOTH of them given the choice of peace, even with a deal to their advantage, or defeating Trump they might choose the latter.

That’s how bent things have become.

Finally you might remember the serial fan fiction story hosted here crossing over Doctor Who, The Great Escape, Superman and Hogan’s Heroes. Well on twitter this morning Grok’s image generator was being lionized so I’d thought I’d put it to the test.

I asked it to generate an image of Superman standing before the escaped allied prisoners looking completely surprised with a pile of spent machine gun slugs at his feet.

I got a four legged superman sitting down on the ground in front of a bunch of Nazi soldiers. I kept telling the AI the things it needed to fix and some things like the man of steel having the right number of legs did get fixed but in the end I gave up as it seems incapable of generating the image according to my instructions.

It’s still impressive to see how far we’ve come in a few decades but it’s not where it pretends to be, at least not the free version on X.

The day will come.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit? 1988

Chris Cillizza noted recently that Donald Trump has been racking up an impressive amount of wins:

His list starting with the Iran strikes and ending with the remission bill could be added onto very easily. In fact even those who hate him would concede that no president has ever managed to get so much done at the start of a term (1st or 2nd).

Meanwhile the Democrats are at 19% (Think about it a sec a Dem candidate who loses a race 61-39 can boast that they out performed their party by 20 POINTS!) and according to CNN’s own polling the Epstein stuff hasn’t hurt Trump with the GOP, except on twitter/X which is as reflective of reality as a porn star’s breasts).

So all that being said why are the left pushing the not even strong enough to be a nothing burger supposedly 22 year old birthday letter (which would not rise to the level of a nothing burger even if it was real) in particular and Epstein in general these days? Because the alternative is talking about either their failures (19% rating, communist running in NYC) or Trump’s repeated wins.

They need a different topic and although there are risks to this (particularly to folks like the Clintons who might end up thrown out of the bus) anything is better than allowing reality to pierce the bubble that their niche is clinging to.

Pam Bondi’s poor choice of words is the only kink we’ve seen in Trump in months, and Trump is slightly frustrated at the lack of attention to all that winning, yet he has not been all that fast in providing transparency here which frankly I agree should be forthcoming.

The question is why and since I remember May of 2016 and know it’s not because he’s actually implicated in anything I submit and suggest the following answer:

He’s playing Br’re Rabbit in the Briar Patch on the left.

You must remember that Trump is a native New Yorker, he grew up in the city, knew everybody, had access to everybody and spent most of his adult life having to do business in blue cities and corrupt cities all over the world. To get what he wanted he had to play ball and because he had $ was invited to every party and every gathering, he was given award and access. He know who and what all these leftists are and how they operate and remember, at every gathering he was at (and he was welcome at all of them till about 2015) he was sober.

So he knows how deeply up to their necks these guys were corrupt and I suspect during his first term he figured they would be willing to make deals to advance his agenda. What he didn’t realize and suspect was that they truly wanted to destroy him, first politically and finally by 2024 physically.

I think he’s going to let the Epstein stuff play out as far as he can all the time saying to people like Elizabeth Warren:

Oh please Please Br’re Pocahontas don’t throw me into the Epstein patch!”

And then when the left is fully committed to both the release of the information and harsh punishment for all those involved (including all those who have given them millions upon millions over the years) and then BOOM!

When that time comes and the decides to give them exactly what they want, a lot of very rich and very bad leftist and their funders will find themselves in trouble meanwhile Donald Trump will be hopping away singing:

“Born and bred in a Briar Patch!”

And will hop away while the left convicts themselves.

Ok let me start this post with the following declaration that I made on twitter yesterday:

I don’t regret my support for either @tedcruz in 2016 or @RonDeSantis in 2024 both of who would have been fine @POTUS But @realDonaldTrump has by any measure been the best president of my lifetime & one of the most successful presidents of all time. I think today he passed TR

Donald Trump by the passage of his “big beautiful bill” has defied all the odds and all the media predictions that it would fail, which in itself is a lot of fun but for me the big beautiful chocolate on top (I don’t like cherries) is the defunding of Planned Parenthood. Coupled with the repeal of Roe vs Wade with Dobbs vs Jackson during the Biden years by a count with three Trump appointees on it this is a stake through the heart for the Abortion industry in America, the single most evil practice that this country has ever embraced.

That being the case this is an excellent time to remind you of the prophecy of the Hermit of Loreto

The Hermit of Loreto was a man by the name of Tom Zimmer who lived a pious life of prayer in in Loreto. He was one of the co-authors of the famous Pieta Prayer Book one of the most popular collections of Catholic Prayers available out there. He was a person who went to multiple masses each day. I posted about this after Roe was overturned:

Capoverdi asked him in English if he was Thomas [Zimmer], and the two had a delightful conversation. When Trump was elected, Dr. Curran called and told him that, back in the 1980s, Tom Zimmer said he had received a “premonition” and that “a certain man would lead America back to God”—and that man would be none other than Donald J. Trump.

“The millionaire playboy from New York?” the incredulous doctor is said to have asked Zimmer.

“Yes,” the Hermit of Loreto responded, adding he was so sure Donald Trump would become a great spiritual leader of America that he wrote his name on a brick and had it placed in the reconstruction of St. Peter’s Holy Door after the Jubilee so Trump would receive blessings from the many Masses that would be said in the Vatican.

The Youtube video is here:

At the time this came out this was evaluated:

After investigating Zimmer, Thomas wrote, “I have no reason to doubt Capoverdi’s statements that Thomas Zimmer communicated to his friend that he received a ‘premonition’ that Donald Trump would ‘lead America back to God.’” He explained that discerning the validity of a prophecy involves evaluating three elements: the prophet’s character, the prophecy’s alignment with Scripture and church teachings, and its ultimate fulfillment.

To the first point, Thomas observed, “Was the prophet a good and virtuous person? Zimmer was.” For the second, he noted, “There is nothing scriptural or in church teachings that would suggest that a political leader cannot lead people to God; on the contrary, Scripture indicates it as a duty.”

Lastly, Thomas acknowledged the importance of whether a prophecy comes true. He added that evidence of Zimmer’s faith in his prophecy could lie in searching for the brick bearing Trump’s name at St. Peter’s door. Thomas concluded, “Here we must wait and see if that happens, but I’m sure whether or not Trump leads America back to God will be open to dispute and interpretation.”

Now I have met people of extraordinary faith and devotion and Mr. Zimmer certainly qualifies. If someone like HE had told me that twenty years ago I would have filed it away in my head and watched because if there is one thing that you can say about God is that he routinely uses that last person you would ever expect from David the young shepherd to Saul of Tarsus the proud Pharisee to bring about extraordinary things. (Trump of course would be more Saul – Paul then David.)

But let’s be blunt I’m VERY catholic so when a person of deep faith says something like this I take it seriously but for most people if someone told them twenty years ago that Donald Trump (whose wife IS a devout Catholic but he is NOT catholic at all) would be responsible for:

  1. The overturning of Roe vs Wade
  2. The Defunding of Planned Parenthood

They would have been thought of him as some kind of nut and if you were a leftist supporter of Planned Parenthood and was told this you would have taken one look at Trump’s history as fell down on the floor laughing

The “kill the babies” left isn’t laughing now, but I suspect Mr. Zimmer, the Hermit of Loreto is smiling and nodding.

I’ll give the last word to the Babylon Bee:

Wail Of Agony Heard From Satan’s Office As Planned Parenthood Defunded

Update: I know this has nothing to do with this post but this is now my favorite audio file: the Catholic version of the famous: “What is best in life?” clip:

With apologies to Arnold and Johnathan

I’m going to plead with you, do not cross us. Because if you do, the survivors will write about what we do here for 10,000 years.

General James “mad dog” Mathis

Let’s cut to the chase.

Donald Trump was 33 years old when the Iranians Mullahs took our people hostages.

For 46 years he has seen them chant “Death to Israel” and “Death to America” and pursue policies toward that end practically unchecked and unhindered and become the number one source of worldwide terror while only being checked twice.

Once by Ronald Reagan whose mere election was enough to convince Iran that holding our people hostage would be the end of the Islamic Republic. With the hostages released Reagan choose to let them the regime survive.

And briefly by George W Bush who while recognizing them as part of the “Axis of Evil” and had armies to the east and the west of the nation and a Navy to their south, choose not to take them out when they struck at our armed forces against us in Iraq.

Donald Trump, in both cases saw the end result of letting Iran off the hook not only in the spread of radical Islam throughout the world which dates from the time of the hostages but their pursuit of Nuclear Weapons which without a doubt would be distributed to terror groups.

Yet even so, unlike the Mullahs who seized and held our people, he gave them a fair warning, a chance to give up their nuclear weapons and survive as they are.

When they did not he ended their nuclear program for them. If are an American born before 1965 as I was and do not hate your country or are not paid by our enemies, the moment that the United States of America ended the Iranian Nuclear threat to the world is a moment of great satisfaction.

Why is he not going all in to destroy Iran and bring down the Mullahs? Because he understands that while a regime change forced by America might end well with the return of the Shah’s son it might also become the next Libya with every terror group in the world making a play for power.

So now that the choice to be a nuclear power is off the table he is giving them the basic Jacksonian choice as described by the late great Steven Den Bestie:

You leave me alone and I’ll leave you alone. You play fair with me and I’ll play fair with you. But if you fuck with me, I’ll kill you.”

While they may not realize it, the Islamic Republic of Iran is in the same position it was on the day Reagan was sworn in. They may think that the choice before them is: “Do we strike back at America and if so how and when?”

It is not.

The choice Donald Trump is giving them is: “Will the Islamic Republic survive or not?”

May they choose wisely.
