Sim [on monitor]: Stand away from the controls, Doctor. Any attempt to interfere with them will precipitate the attack immediately.
12th Doctor: Yes, I see that. Very clever. One question, as long as I’m here. Why haven’t you done it already?
Sim [on monitor]: When the time is right, there will be no delay.
12th Doctor: Oh, you told me something there. You told me something useful. You shouldn’t have done that.
Sim [on monitor]: What did I tell you?
12th Doctor: You told me that the time is currently wrong.

Doctor Who The Return of Dr. Mysterio 2016

It does not matter how small the sins are provided that their cumulative effect is to edge the man away from the Light and out into the Nothing. Murder is no better than cards if cards can do the trick. Indeed the safest road to Hell is the gradual one–the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts.”

CS Lewis The Screwtape Letters

One of the things that has been a source of some confusion until a bit ago was why the left had become completely unhinged over the rise of Donald Trump.

Time tends to pass, cycles come and go, eventually the levers of power would return to the left has people forgot. It seemed very strange that the left went so all in on the Destruction of the Donald Trump administration.

Yeah the attempt to play the election and the fear of getting caught was serious, but as time has passed and I’ve seen what this administration has done I’m thinking that it’s much more than that.

I’m thinking about the dismantling of the regulations that give the deep state bureaucracy it’s power.

I’m thinking of the dismantling of the one sided trade deals that enriched the connected and places like Red China while the pols they owned insisted that jobs weren’t coming back.

I’m thinking of North Korea which suddenly could get the US to pay them off or nuzzle up to China which is how the game has been played for decades.

I’m thinking of Iran and the various radicals no longer getting pallets of cash.

And most of all I’m thinking of the investigations of the foreign funds that have been pouring into higher education media and elsewhere buying schools, professors administrations and non-profits to try to transform our children into people who are taught a false history of america for the sake of our enemies.

These are all things that have gone on for a while and it they continued on for another generation America would have been lost forever.

However all of things that have been checked or exposed under the Trump administration.

I suspect those behind the riots and the exploitation of events like the pandemic would have liked to keep things quietly going on slowly enriching themselves for the benefit of our enemies and their mutual power.

But Donald Trump’s actions have put them on the spot, if he is allowed to continue then it’s disaster, 1st for all our international enemies who have invested billions to create the right conditions for America to fall or be co-opted and 2nd for all those pols, academics, media types and elites who have gotten wealthy of our enemies investment who fear that this gravy train might end.

Thus they have gone all out, from impeachment to the draconian measure to keep the economy closed to the riots.

If it wasn’t for Trump in a generation it would have been all over. I submit and suggest they have been forced to act before they’re ready and that’s why they’ve reached a point where they’re not even bothering to hide it anymore.

This is the difference Donald Trump has made, it means we as Americans have a chance foil what I suspect have been long laid plans, by Trump’s re-election.

If we don’t it will be on us but if we throw away this precious gift that our forefather bleed to leave us, it will be done with both eyes open.

One more thought: As I noted before the last election It’s not just the left that is a worry here

When people think of jobs in a president’s administration they think of secretary of state, Attorney General or chief of staff, but the reality is there are thousands of positions that carry prestige, pay well and guarantee a well paying position in the private sector later on that an administration fills not just at the start of their term but all during it.  (another argument for Glenn Reynolds revolving door surtax)

What happens if those positions go not to a party man, but to a Trump man?  What happens when the head of an agency like the GSA doesn’t owe his position to a party or to a donor but owes it to the Donald™ and it time to make a ruling that affects the party or could affect a chance in a big donor’s fortunes?  Even worse for the GOP what happens when Donald Trump remembers who treated him fairly and with respect and who did not?  There are few men in the this history of the world that can hold a candle to Lyndon Baines Johnson in terms of ego and remembering a slight but I suspect Donald Trump is one of them.

There are plenty of people in the NeverTrump business and others in the establishment deep state GOP that are willing to go along with all the left and our foes are pushing as long as they and their families have well feathered nests. Those are the ones who will sell us in a heartbeat.

Lincoln and Douglas at Freeport, Illinois

By John Ruberry

While we’re not–yet–at the French Revolution level of destroying then recreating society, the Angry Left is focused on defacing and toppling statues of men deemed racist. Or by having sympathetic politicians remove them, such as what happened last week with Jefferson Davis’ statue at the Kentucky state capitol. So far women in bronze and marble, to my knowledge, have been spared, but one of Illinois’ representatives at National Statuary Hall at the US Capitol just might be inflicted with induced restless legs syndrome. I’ll get to her later.

Monuments of Confederate generals and of course Jefferson Davis have been the hit the hardest by the vandals. But the rage is now world wide. Winston Churchill’s statue at Parliament Square in London had “was a racist” spray painted on its pedestal. There’s an Abraham Lincoln statue there too, Black Lives Matter activists defaced that one. Up in Scotland, a statue of medieval monarch Robert the Bruce, whose views on black people are unknown, had “BLM” and “was a racist king” spray painted on it.

Because I’m from Illinois, I’d like to zoom in on my state. Let’s return to Lincoln. While Honest Abe was always anti-slavery, his views on black people prior to the Civil War would be classified as racist today. Lincoln’s stance on slavery in the 1860 election was to confine it to states where it already existed. By 1863 he was an abolitionist, at least in areas held by Confederate forces. Two years later the Great Emancipator enthusiastically backed the 13th Amendment that finally ended slavery in America. Oh, Lincoln saved the union too. That’s why he is considered the United States’ greatest president by most historians.

Lincoln gained national prominence in 1858 during his campaign for the US Senate against Stephen A. Douglas. Other than his connection to Lincoln, Douglas, “the Little Giant,” is largely forgotten now. His Kansas-Nebraska Act, which eliminated the Missouri Compromise in determining which states would be slave or free, ignited Bleeding Kansas, a brutal warmup to the Civil War. But Douglas was a political dynamo in the 1850s and he was the nominee for president for the northern Democrats in 1860.

Douglas and Lincoln agreed to a series of seven debates throughout Illinois during the 1858 campaign, the famous, or make that formerly famous, Lincoln-Douglas Debates. Late in the 20th century bronze statues of both men were placed at each of those sites.

Hmmm.

Douglas’ views on slavery were purposely murky, he believed in “popular sovereignty,” that is the voters, who comprised only of white males in the 19th century, should decide where slavery should exist. The Little Giant owned a plantation in Mississippi with slaves. Well, not exactly, but it was in his wife’s name.

How long will it be before those Douglas statues in Illinois will be vandalized? When will the call for their removal begin? And those seven plazas with Lincoln and Douglas will look unbalanced with just one man. Will Lincoln, who at one time of course was a racist, albeit most whites were bigots in the 1800s, get yanked too from those spots too?

Nancy Pelosi is calling for the removal of eleven statues honoring Confederates at Statuary Hall. Each state gets two statues, some of these honorees are well-known, Andrew Jackson represents Tennessee, George Washington is one of Virginia’s statues. Both men of course owned slaves. Some of the honorees are virtually unknown. Frances Willard, the longtime president of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, a group that assisted in establishing Prohibition in America, represents Illinois in the hall. Like Douglas, she was a big deal in her day. But Willard held racist views and she feuded with African American civil rights leader Ida B. Wells.

When you remove the Confederates, the slave holders, and the racists, how many statues will be left in Statuary Hall?

How many statues in front of libraries, village squares, or county courthouses will be removed?

Where does is it all end?

And if all of the statues are gone, then what?
