If you are surprised by this story:

Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) have remained silent after the Palestinian Authority banned LGBT activity in the West Bank. These members of “The Squad” have supported legislation praising the Boycott-Divestment-Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel and voted against legislation condemning it. PJ Media reached out to them for comment on the move, and they have remained silent.

Early Monday morning, The Jerusalem Post reported that the PA and Palestine Police had outlawed LGBT activity in the West Bank and threatened to arrest members of the LGBT group Al-Qaws for Sexual & Gender Diversity in Palestinian Society. Al-Qaws was planning a gathering for members in Nablus at the end of the month. The group only has offices in Israel — in East Jerusalem and in Haifa.

Luay Zreikat, a spokesman for Palestine Police, said LGBT activities are “harmful to the higher values and ideals of Palestinian society.” He added that Al-Qaws’s activities are completely “unrelated to religions and Palestinian traditions and customs, especially in the city of Nablus.”

Then it’s obvious that you never read this post:

Regardless of what you see on TV news and talk shows the reality is over the next 20 years the percentage of LGBT voters in the US Population will likely remain static.

During that same time period the number of Muslim Americans, both by immigration and birth is going to increase dramatically.

Right now the left has the Gays and the Transgenders and the Hollywood elites & media in which they are over represented and they figure that’s the best things to have, but in America Islam is a thing of the future.  In 20 years the children of Muslims now being raised on the tenets of Sharia law in America will be old enough to vote and Democrats going to make sure they get those votes when the time come, not now but 10-20 years from now.

And if that means more LGBT Americans have to live in fear during those two decades, well it’s small price to pay for power.

It’s not personal , it’s simply a ghastly math driven business.

While quite a few Catholic pols have no problem throwing their faith aside knowing that it will not her their electoral prospects Omar and Talib are smart enough to know that Islam isn’t so forgiving on that subject.  They will keep their mouths shut because to do otherwise will hurt their chances for re-election and furthermore the Democrats will not push them to do otherwise because they don’t want to give the GOP any openings that could threaten their current House majority.

I predict that within my lifetime with the Democrat party in desperate need of the unassimilated Muslim vote to win elections the party will take the LGBTQ movement and toss it aside like so much trash and the little Robespierre’s of said movement that have spent the last two decades targeting Christians for banishment from society will be shocked and surprised when they find themselves treated in a like or worse way by the party that once used them.

Alas as any Marxist can tell you, nothing is more disposable than a useful idiot whose usefulness has ended.

Every now and again in a sporting event, in a board game or in a political race you get a situation that’s a “gimme” an opening so good, so wide and so huge that all one has to do is reach out your hand and you can score.  Sometimes it’s a single basket, sometimes it’s a key moment and sometimes it’s the entire race.

Beto O’Rourke has provided the Democrat field with such a moment.

This is a statement that is so blatantly false, so easily disproved by the facts and the historical record that only a desperate candidate trying to be noticed would state it. The folks at Twitchy are having a fun time with it, this line is the best of the batch:

The real significance of this business isn’t the cry of a dying candidacy it’s the oppertunity it provides for every other Democrat in the race.

The Democrat party has a problem brewing in election 2020. In order to win the White house or the Senate in swing states or to retain the swing house seats picked up in 2018 candidates have to somehow divorce themselves from the crazy Socialism that Bernie is offering or the antisemitic and anti american rants of the Squad has been running out, which plays great with the whacked out base but is a loser among people living lives in swing districts dealing with reality.

The problem of how to convince people of said separation (real or not) is exacerbated by the President’s use of the bully pulpit to do all he can to maintain that link and show the American people the Democrat party as it is.

So problem, if you need to somehow show an image of moderation without actually moderating your views, what can you do? Well Beto O’Rourke has given them an out, by his statement.

All that’s required is a statement something like:

While racism is, was and continues to be a problem in America  that we are all obliged to combat and condemn the foundation of this county is not racism rather it is liberty and it’s that base of liberty that has been and remains our best weapon against the scourge of racism.

It’s a perfect political statement, it says nothing about at all about the subject that can be contradicted, nor does it close the door for massive condemnations of almost anything a Democrat doesn’t like as racism.  Yet it sounds moderate enough that a Democrat saying it would make national headlines…

…and that’s why it likely won’t happen.

Thanks to an unhealthy addiction to social media and an unwillingness to confront the violent wacks within their base the slightest suggestion that the founding of the nation was not based on the charter of the Klu Klux Klan is likely to draw a massive reaction from the left mob that is the party base.  This is in contrast to the old days when such misdirection in pretending to be sane was considered a vital part of the Democrat election plan and allowed them to push though much of the radical ideas that the Democrats have managed to pass over the years.

This is a pocket hanger that no candidate would ever fail to sink twenty years ago, but I suspect not a single Democrat in the field has the courage to pick up that cue, let alone use.

It’s fun to watch as several of the remaining Democrat candidates for the presidency try to outdo each other in their proposals for disarming the law-abiding.

Kamala Harris creates a problem, then promises to solve it.

Elizabeth Warren’s plans for presidential gun confiscation involve executive orders coupled with nagging the American public to death.

“We will make change, we’ll figure out what works, and then we’ll make some more change and some more change.”

Warren added, “I will take executive action in every corner, with the Department of Justice, with ATF, to move as much as I can.”

And Beta (spelling intentional) tries to top them both:

O’Rourke’s plan lists a number of reforms, including the buyback [sic] program that would remove all banned assault weapons from private ownership — a proposal that goes further than any presented so far by the Democratic field.

(…)

“Beto is calling for a mandatory buyback program for assault weapons and a voluntary buyback program for handguns. To create a funding stream for buybacks, Beto will increase the excise tax on gun manufacturers and fines imposed on gun traffickers, and will enable ATF to purchase any banned assault weapons presented to the agency. Individuals who fail to participate in the mandatory buyback of assault weapons will be fined.”

Beta, sweetheart, straight-out threatening to kick down our doors would be more honest and sound less weaselly.

Honestly, its a toss up as to which one of these I’d like to see lose to President Trump in 2020.

And you may think I forgot about the other Democratic Party front-runner, the former vice president, but I have not.

He would certainly lose to President Trump also, but it has been painfully obvious that Joe Biden is declining in cognitive capabilities. I don’t want to see that final melt down happen in public. Even Biden doesn’t deserve that.

But the others aren’t much smarter. A smart candidate who wanted to take all the guns wouldn’t be so open about it.

As a general rule it’s not a good idea to blame others for the actions of an individual.  For example when Maurice Hill decided to shoot a bunch of police coming to arrest him, it was likely not a political statement on police, had nothing to do with folks like Senators Kamala Harris or Elizabeth Warren falsely claiming the Michael Brown was murdered by a policeman, and did not originate from the general attempt by the left to paint police officers as dangerous oppressors of blacks in America both on the campaign trail and on the various cable news stations.

However they DO own the fact that as a matter of policy Mr. Hill was in a position to commit these shootings as Stacy McCain explains:

Two years ago, left-wing billionaire George Soros wrote a $1.45 million check to Larry Krasner’s campaign for district attorney of Philadelphia. This is a gigantic sum to spend on a local election, and enabled Krasner to defeat six rivals in the 2017 Democrat primary, then coast to a landslide victory in the general election. Krasner ran as the anti-police candidate, and has made it his official policy to turn dangerous criminals loose on the streets of Philadelphia. One of the beneficiaries of Krasner’s policies, Maurice Hill, had an extensive criminal record — drug charges, aggravated assault, perjury, fleeing and eluding, escape and weapons offenses — before he engaged in a shootout Wednesday in North Philadelphia that wounded six cops.

When you have a policy of not enforcing the law, folks like Mr. Hill are on the streets breaking it with impunity.  The US attorney’s office had something to say on the matter that is quoted by both Stacy & Ace:

The alleged shooter last night, Maurice Hill, is a previously convicted felon with a long rap sheet. We have plenty of criminal laws in this City — but what we don’t have is robust enforcement by the District Attorney. Instead, among other things, we have diversionary programs for gun offenses, the routine downgrading of charges for violent crime, and entire sections of the criminal code that are ignored.

The criminal laws in this City — and especially the existing gun laws and drug laws — should be aggressively enforced in order to protect the public and the police. My Office is doing all that we can. We have prosecuted 70% more violent crime cases this year than we did last year, in response to the District Attorney’s lawlessness. But it is now time for the District Attorney and his enablers to stop making excuses for criminals. It is time for accountability. It is time to support law enforcement and to put the good people of this City first.

Now it doesn’t matter that George Soros spent a fortune on this DA’s race, the people of Philadelphia could have rejected him and his policies and voted GOP however the last republican mayor of Philly left office in 1952 more than a decade before I was born.

So the Democrats own this city, they own it’s DA, they own its Mayor and they own the Policies that made sure Maurice Hill was not behind bars.  And they certainly own the folks who were riding the police during the standoff while Hill was shooting them.

Two closing thoughts.

Democrat candidates for president will do their best to ignore this event on the stump and during interviews as it not only undercuts their gun control message (imagine a criminal illegally having a gun!) but forces them to thread the needle of “Cops are killers and oppressors” which is the message that their radical base wants to hear and “our hearts go out to the families of the wounded officers” which the still sane parts of the party and swing voters would demand of them.  Much easier to let the story die.

If I’m Donald Trump I bring this up at every single rally and every single stop to make sure the story doesn’t die.  I’d force them to try to thread that needle every single day.
