The only sports I’ve watched this year has been five to ten minutes of game five between the Celtics and Heat and that only because I was seated at a restaurant right next to a TV that I could not avoid, however there is a sports subject I think is worth bringing up.

This week the Lakers began their series with the Heat in the bubble for the title and apparently one game one (heard that on the radio on the way home).

If the Lakers win then this will mean that LeBron James will have won titles in three different cities under three different coaches with three different system while being the primary driver of his team.

He will have also managed to do it in a year where there was no home court advantage.

In my opinion that puts him above Jordan as he will have proved that he can lead any team in any system to a title even though he will have one less ring.

Of course Kareem won six titles over twenty years with two teams including one at age 39 and 40 so Mr. James may still be involved in a two way tie for 2nd best of all time.

And neither in my opinion tops Bill Russell who not only has 11 rings but won two of them as a player coach although you will be able to make a case for Kareem based on longevity or for James based on the wins in different systems without sounding ridiculous.

In my opinion if someone can make a case can be made that you are as good as Bill Russell without sounding crazy you are something special and whatever my opinion of Mr. James political opinions he is without question the best player of the 21st century and, if he wins this title clearly better than Jordan.

Today on DaTechGuy off DaRadio we’re going to have a lot to talk about the topics so far

  1. the 49 Black Lives that didn’t matter to the NBA/NFL/NHL & MLB enough to boycott anything
  2. The Rittenhouse Method of not getting shot by police.
  3. Riots Outside the White House house grounds vs Ave Maria inside White House
  4. Pat Austin on the 1st week of Covid School in practice.

It will all be here at DaTechGuy off DaRadio, you can watch it here at 3 PM EST (the placeholder is last week’s show)

Hope to see you there.

fyi I’ll be a guest on Fault Lines radio in DC and KC this Thursday between 9 & 10 EST talking election, RNC and more

A Bidenball MLB / NBA Anecdote

Take this story for what it’s worth.

My workweek for my day (well evening) job is Sunday to Thursday and as my wife had already left for work and I hadn’t had a chance to go shopping I stopped by a local restaurant (not a chain) around 2:30 PM to have a bite before I went in.

Even though I don’t listen to the woke sports (or Bidenball as I call it) anymore I still tend to listen to sports talk radio on the way into work and just change the station if a game is on.

I turned on the 1st station 93.7 and the Red Sox were in the 4th inning so I switched to the 2nd station. On the 2nd station the Celtics 76ers playoff game was on and although the Celtics had a chance to clinch with a win I turned the radio off rather than listen. Just then I pulled into the Restaurant parking lot.

There are seven large screen TV’s in the place and on game days they are invariably on sports. On a day with Both the Redsox and Celtics on you would normally see 3 TV on the Celtics and 3 on the Redsox with one on either ESPN or Golf. As the Redsox are horrible this year and the Celtics games were playoff games I expected to see a 3-2 ratio with one TV for Golf & ESPN or maybe even 4-1.

When I sat down I was shocked to see that all seven TV’S were showing golf!

Remember there was a Celtics PLAYOFF game in progress and not a single set was tuned to it.

‘More importantly it is my experience at this place that if a patron wants a TV on a sport that isn’t on, the staff invariably will put one set on the desired channel/ They’ve done it for me for Red Sox games in years gone by.

But apparently not a single person in the place, and there were more than a few, asked to see the struggling Redsox, nor did a request to watch the Celtics play the Sixers reach the staff’s ears. As I ate my meal I watched as every single set remained on PGA golf until the time I left.

Now you might argue that this is only one bar/restaurant in a blue city in a blue county of one blue state and that’s true. You might say this is completely anecdotal and doesn’t mean it’s a trend and you might be right about that as well..

But I have a feeling that this scene is being repeated in hundreds of restaurants and bars all over the nation and that the various sports league will not realize the extent to which they have chased away their fan bases until it comes time to negotiate TV contracts.

I suspect I will find that a lot of fun.

There is a big fuss about President Trump being only four points down on Biden in the latest CNN poll just before the Democrat convention.

Does it not occur to anyone that this is deliberate so that they can show a convention “bump” for Joe Biden at the end of the week?

After all, if we presume they are manipulating the polls why would they suddenly stop now?

Was slightly surprised to see Biden hit piece in Politico with a lot of stuff coming from Team Obama.

But the more I thought about it the less it was surprising. Biden is a losing candidate. This stuff coming out now is about Obama being able to say “well yeah I had to be pro-forma for Joe but I thought his nomination was a bad idea.”

This is about being able to make the case that when voters reject Biden they weren’t rejecting Obama’s 3rd term. I think that is the reason why Susan Rice wasn’t the VP pick. If she was on the ticket then it would be the Obama ticket.

I had never heard of Millie Weaver before Sunday Morning. When I heard about her arrest I followed a link and starting watching the shadowgate piece on youtube before I went to work.

When I got home it had been pulled for “hate speech” after over 1 million views. I did some searching and found it elsewhere and watched the rest before I hit the sack, still didn’t see any “hate speech” that Youtube cried.

This thing screams Streisand Effect and the idea that this arrest is over an old fight with her mom a few hours before her documentary was released is not credible.

If you want to see it the link to the video is here.

While I’m not watching any sports I have still been listening to sports radio stations when I am out. On Monday while running errands they were talking about the crashing ratings for the NBA.

It was hilarious to hear the excuses:

  • People got used to not watching
  • These games didn’t mean anything
  • It will change with the playoffs
  • etc etc etc…

The one thing that was never mentioned was going all in on BLM and social justice. That it was never brought up speaks volumes, apparently stating the obvious is completely VERBOTEN.

Finally the most amazing thing I’ve noticed lately is this entire COVID shutdown business, while designed to hurt Trump, has pretty much been liberal suicide.

Universities, Hollywood, public schools, Broadway, and big liberal cities are all falling apart while a good chunk of the rest of the country seems to be carrying on.

The number of liberal institutions that are crumbling under this is astounding. This deserves a longer post and I’ll likely write one later, but I’ll just note that if your goal was to destroy the infrastructure that supports Democrat memes and messages, I can’t see what you’d do differently
