43 to nothing

76-6 over two weeks

Seriously?

Barring catastrophic injury is there anyone who can stop this team?

Do you remember when everyone told you that these guys were doomed without Gronk?

Was it just me or was Brady throwing early to Antonio Brown simply to piss of the NFL media

Was it just me or was Brady throwing early to Antonio Brown simply to piss of the NFL media

I know that Bill Belichick is the greatest coach of all time and I’m just a baseball fan pontificating, but if you’re up 36 to nothing in the 4th and you have lost members of your offensive line to injury you take your starting QB out for his own safety and give your rookie a shot at playing in a real game.

You do this even if your QB is Brady and even if he was 25 and not 42.

This is a no brainier.

BTW 2 former Patriot quarterbacks who started games in NE in the last three years are starting this season, they are currently 3-1 and if it wasn’t for a few bad kicks would be 4-0.

Not bad at all, but in fairness what would you expect when you’ve got two guys with 3 superbowl rings between them?

Yeah I know they were backups but if they stunk they wouldn’t have been here.

Speaking of that one loss that was due to Adam Vinatieri missing FG’s and xtra points, he missed two more xpts yesterday and might be announcing his retirement today. I hope not as I’d hate to see him leave on a down note, but I think he’d never forgive himself if he cost his team more games.

If this is the end for him, it doesn’t make him any less one of the greatest of all time, but it does make him like Willie Mays who lost suddenly and all at once. I suspect this will not happen to Tom Brady if he retires at 45 as he has announced, but if he tries to go beyond that, all bets are off, but his wife likely won’t let him.

You’ll note that I didn’t do anything to commemorate 9/11 this year at all, not even the great victory on Lake Champlain in 1814 that I’ve occasionally mentioned.

I think constantly morning the dead in big ceremonies is a bad idea while we are still fighting any of these guys, all it does it give hope to our foes. Granted we are closer than we’ve ever been to them being utterly crushed, but till I think a smaller ceremony is a better idea.

Some might object and that’s your right but my take is a lot better than the NYT trying to pretend that airplanes attacks us on their own.

Speaking on 9/11 the MSM hit Donald Trump for hitting them on 9/11. I’m not surprised, it sure beats having to report on the special election in NC where they were anticipating victory for weeks, until the President showed up the day before.

Then the 18 point deficit became a 1 1/2 point win for Dan Bishop and the media was no longer smiling

and election suddenly was no longer newsworthy.

Unexpectedly of course.

Ok one more 9/11 thing can someone please tell me what was so offensive about this pizza? that it couldn’t be tweeted out on 9/11?

It’s one thing to want to be respectful, it’s another thing to be anal. This is anal.

Antonio Brown is now been accused of rape in a civil lawsuit alleging that these events took place last year and in 2017.

I have no idea if this is true or not and I’m sure this is going to be topic #1 on sports media concerning the NFL, and frankly Brown’s statement concerning the event doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence in him, but regardless of how you feel about Brown who is likely one of the least popular players in the league at the moment, it seems to me that this is well within the statue of limitations so I don’t understand why the person launching this suit is not filing criminal charges in addition to the civil suit.

Whatever your opinion of Mr. Brown I think that’s a valid question that deserves an answer.

As of this writing (9/11) the Boston Redsox tragic number for wild card spot elimination is 9. On the radio two days ago the I heard a sports talk guy say the day they were official eliminated by the Yankees for the division that you would see the players tone it down. This suggestion insults me for two reasons.

Firstly until you eliminated. Teams have been known to collapse at the end so until you’re out of it you should play like you’re in it, not just for the your own team and fan’s sake but to force the guys in front of you earn it.

Secondly as professional athletes who are paid millions of dollars to play this game you are expected to play to win. This is entertainment and in a sport whose fan base isn’t what it was you can’t afford to mail it in.

Of course it would be nice if the players were as insulted by this suggestion as I was.

This was the opening weekend of the NFL season and on all the NFL shows the lead story was a player that did not play week 1.

In terms of a sports story it’s Amazing A top five wide receiver in the league, arguably the best, joins the best quarterback of all time on a team that has just won their sixth Superbowl and was already favored to win a seventh this season.

By all reports Antonio Brown is a very hard worker who really throws himself into their game.  He will almost certainly draw double teams which is great news for Julian Edelman and Josh Gordon, Demaryius Thomas, Sony Michael and every other Patriot except for the 53 man on the roster for the Pittsburgh game yesterday.

The oddest thing?  Has a player ever had less leverage with a team he is on?

Think about it for a second. Let’s say for just for the sake of argument that all of the predictions being made by all the Sunday NFL shows are correct and that Antonio Brown’s prima donna act is in full swing in New England and reaches a breaking point where Belichick lays down the law, either shape up or you’re gone.

You’ve got a team that just won a Superbowl without him, a team that was already favored to go back to the game and a Quarterback in possibly the last year of his contract who still think he has something to prove. What’s the downside for the Pats if they cut him? The worst that happens is the betting line get slightly worse on them AND the best that happens is Tom Brady has yet another motivation to prove himself to the pundits who will all declare how losing Brown hurts the Pats chances.

Meanwhile what’s the downside for Brown? You not only become the guy in a contract season who has confirmed to every GM in the league that you are uncoachable, but you also are likely to have the displeasure of having to watch a coach, a GM an owner and the team that drops you hold a Lombardi trophy over his head.

Antonio Brown may not understand this but I bet his grandmother who he called when he was released and his agent does.

I think Antonio’s Brown is going to keep his nose so clean you can eat off of it and if he doesn’t it will be for the same reason that Josh Gordon fails, if he does, because he’s not physically capable of doing it.

Antonio Brown is now a Patriot
