For four + years those of us who have supported Donald Trump have been told by our Never Trump “true conservative” betters that whatever the advantages to various legislation and even SOCTUS judges picked by Trump. Donald Trump is so vile that to vote for his is to sell your conservative soul.

These folks should have been very happy now because their moment had come!

With the death of Ruth Bader Ginsberg and the guarantee that President Trump will nominate a replacement quickly and McConnell scheduling a vote before the election one of the supposedly primary drivers for us poor deluded souls who have supported Trump is about to disappear.

Consider: if Donald Trump gets a nominee though before the election the Supreme Court will sit at six conservatives and three liberals and the primary driver for anti-abortion religious voters to hold their nose and vote Trump is gone!

Suddenly NEVERTRUMP could make the case they don’t NEED Donald Trump to be president to have an anti abortion supreme court. Even with Chief Justice John “old yellowstain” Roberts occasionally voting with the left the conservative majority will still hold.

And even if a President Biden or Harris gets elected they would need not one but TWO vacancies among Alito, Thomas and Roberts to swing the court back their way. Replacing one of the three solid liberals won’t count toward giving them a majority.

So if you are a Charlie Sykes or a Rick Wilson or an Amanda Carpenter or Joe Scarborough or any writer for National Review or the Lincoln project all you had to do is put all your weight behind the President’s nominee and all you’ve desired will be possible.

You’ll not only be proving that you meant it when you said you were pro-life conservatives who care about issues like abortion but can’t vote for Trump, but you’ll be able to strip the re-election of Donald Trump of their argument that without him there is no conservative majority. After all the battle for the courts will be already won! They’ll never be a better chance to pry those who don’t say they don’t like President Trump but want a conservative court away from him.

What will it be?

Here’s their answer:

Or put simply they’re not NeverTrump or “true conservatives” or “prolife” they’re just on the other side as long as that side is the one that pays.

Unexpectedly of course.

Power Trip

I was driving past the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles this morning, which remains closed due on orders of the local government. The New Beverly is a revival house, owned by filmmaker Quentin Tarantino, and, with no movies on offer, its marquee now features a tribute to the recently deceased actor, Chadwick Boseman, who played, most famously, the Marvel comic book hero Black Panther, in the eponymous 2018 movie. The marquee reads “Rest in Power,” a trendy twist on the familiar Rest in Peace wish for the recently departed.

You see that phrase more and more among the trendiscencti: “Rest in Power.” The Paramount Network titled a series about Trayvon Martin, the black teenager killed by a security guard in 2012, “Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story.” In July, the radical left-wing rag The Jacobin titled an essay about the recently deceased politician, “Rest in Power, John Lewis.” It says something, it seems to me, about the state of our culture.

“Rest in Peace” comes from the Latin “Requiescat in pace,” which has been found on Christian tombstones dating to the time of the Roman Empire. It reflects the hope that upon death, the Christian will find peace in the next life. It also reflects the Christian belief in life as toil and struggle, and that peace is best found in the afterlife.

“Rest in Power” twists this, wishing not for peace but for power. What a revealing twist this is, and reflects an adoration of power over peace. When the culture used to speak of power, it was often in reference to Lord Acton’s observation that “power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Power was something to regard skeptically, and those with totalitarian power were abhorred.

But the Left – home of such totalitarians as Lenin, Stalin, Mao, and Castro – worships power above all else. And now that love of power is taking hold in the U.S.

It’s not clear to me how much power the atheistic Left thinks the dead can wield. Hopefully, their dead, like all the rest, have found peace, in which case, no power is needed.

And I’ll just add: Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, rest in peace, not power.

Am I the only one whose intelligence is insulted by the idea that the media thinks anyone who isn’t already in the Biden camp is going to fall for another case of “Sudden Trump accusation” syndrome?

I know that’s what they get paid for but I’d think one’s self respect would preclude something this obvious.

Speaking of the media insulting my intelligence consider this:

The media is a full employment scheme for ex Democrat aides who are not bright enough to be candidates or judges and not connected enough to be lobbyists and has in my opinion been so for a very long time.

Apparently the Covid numbers in Nashville concerning bars and restaurants were so low that the Democrat Mayor withheld this info because he didn’t want this good news to hit the public.

Odds are this is happening elsewhere but people are missing something as noted by these tweets

Power is the only religion the left believes in and if other people suffer so they can get it or hold it, so be it.

Speaking of trouble for people there is a report that the “George Floyd Riots” cost between 1 & 2 Billion dollars. While many note that the costs to the individual cities where they took place is higher what people should note is that every single person who has an insurance policy is going to pay for it in terms of higher costs as these companies try to both recover these costs and prepare for the next round.

Finally after a big fuss by Democrats in Pennsylvania the ANTIFA crowd managed to get the bail lowered on the various folks who where arrested in the Lancaster riots from 1 Million to various amounts from $25k to $100K.

If I was in charge of the GOP I’d run their mug shots with Democrats calling for bail reduction on a continuous loops on ads nationwide

I spend a lot of time on Facebook debating liberals.  I don’t intend to at all.  I just post the stuff I want to and my liberal friends declare all out war on just about everything I post.   I never return the favor..  I have a live and let live policy. I enjoy debate but I loathe all out war.

It is not an enjoyable experience.  Both sides often end up angry and it is tedious because we keep repeating the same points over and over again with neither adopting the other’s positions on any issue.  I’m absolutely fine if my liberal friends never adopt any of my positions or beliefs.  I firmly believe every individual is entitled to their own opinions, positions, and beliefs   It appears to me that those declaring war on me when I share my beliefs find it unacceptable that I hold and share beliefs that contradict the liberal orthodoxy.  I’ve been told on a few occasions that the reason for the all out war on my posts is because they do not accept by views and beliefs.  They are bullying me into abandoning my beliefs and taking on theirs. Forcing others to accept my beliefs and views has never entered my mind when I post on social media.  I post on social media to inform which cannot be construed as forcing my views on others.  I never badger those who post items contrary to my beliefs, or who post items I find offensive, or know to be inaccurate. I just scroll past.

Even though I am usually calm and laid back I’ve lost my temper far too many times during these debate sessions.  False accusations of bigotry and nonstop personal attacks will cause anyone to lose their temper.   They bother me immensely.  Did you know that right wing opposition to professional sports embracing Black Lives Matters is based on bigotry?  That is news to us right wingers who know that we are angry because Black Lives Matter is a Marxist organization who’s members have killed many police officers, rioted and burned buildings, and openly called for violence against police officers.  I am sick to death of being called a racist because I respect and honor the Constitution and also respect and honor the founding fathers and principles of this great nation.

It is not much fun when individuals demand I prove every statement I make regardless how innocent it is then constantly reject my proof because it is from right wing, accurate, hard journalism sources such as Breitbart, Townhall, American Thinker, The Federalist Papers, and Federalist.ORG.   I’ve tried educating my friends about the history and culture behind left wing fake news and how right wing sources are accurate journalism sites only colored by right wing window dressing.  There is only so many times you can experience the same conversation with out it becoming extremely tedious.

I’ve come to the conclusion through these debate sessions that real communication  between those on the political right and those on the political left is not possible because both sides view the universe at large so differently.  We no longer share the same reality.  Those on the political left too often live in a bubble dominated by liberal orthodoxy.  If it is not on MSNBC, CNN, or NPR it is not true to them.  Cultural Marxism has warped the reality of the political left too much.

I’m a Libertarian who a few decades ago was a left wing socialist.  My journey from one political side to the other was brought about through an enormous amount of research, study, and soul searching .  I’ve lived in both political universes and I know the political left is the insulated side that exists almost devoid of reality.

Leftism is one of those harmful cult like religions that demand unthinking obedience to a rigid dogma. Any posts and comments against one of the many sects of the leftist religion is viewed as the worst kind of heresy. I admit that Libertarianism, the original interpretation of the Constitution, and the founding principles of this country are a kind of religion to me. It is a religion I embrace through an overwhelming amount of study and research. I am perfectly fine with others not embracing or following my personal religion. Every individual is free to believe whatever they want to.
