I very much prefer the Heinleinian universe over the Asimovian universe

I recently finished reading the entire Foundation series by Isaac Asimov, all fifteen novels.  It has been several decades since I last read these masterpieces of Science Fiction.  When I read them previously I enjoyed them.  This time around I rather despised the entire lot. 

The writing is great and the science fiction is first rate, as good as I remembered it to be.  In the intervening decades since I last read these novels my political views evolved radically.  After reading several hundred books on politics and government I became a Libertarian. 

Unfortunately Isaac Asimov chose to cram the entire Foundation series full of the worst kind of collectivist refuse imaginable.  Collectivism was the central theme of the series.  Continuously Asimov denigrated individualism and praised collectivism.  At the climax of the final novel one character alone chooses a path that transforms the entire galaxy, and every one of the four quadrillion humans, into a single hive organism.

Ever since I was in high school I have been a huge fan of the author Robert Heinlein.  As my political awakening progressed my appreciation for Heinlein increased.  It is now an obsession. That is because Robert Heinlein was a Libertarian in the truest sense of the world.  A love for individualism and a hatred for collectivism is woven throughout most of his novels. This began with the short story Lifeline, which was the first thing he wrote, and continued through his last novel, To Sail Beyond the Stars.

Robert Heinlein was an exceptionally talented writer who wrote superb science fiction, with an emphasis on hardcore science.  His works are so great they can be read over and over again. 

The United States is such a mess because progressives have transformed this nation from a Constitutional Republic based on individualism into a collectivist hell.  Heinlein warned us about the evils of collectivism while Asimov praised collectivism.   

Paging Hezbollah: Not Anti-War Just in Favor of Dead Jews

Almost from the moment of the Oct 7th attack last year a wave of leftists both internationally and in the US started warning Israel against retaliating against the people who accomplished the greatest mass murder of Jews since the Nazi death camps.

When Israel went into Gaza they warned them against targeting “civilian” targets and despite Israel accomplishing the lowest ratio of civilian causalities in a war zone continually attacked them as committing “genocide” despite the fact that they could have leveled Gaza without risking troops if they had so chosen.

And when Hezbollah fired rockets into Israel unabated to the point where over 100,000 Israeli citizens had to be evacuated from their homes and months later still have not returned those same folks said Israel must not hit back due to the risk of civilian causalities.

So now Israel has pulled off the seemingly impossible. They have managed to target Hezbollah operatives with an attack so precise that short of being a passenger in a car driven by one of the exploding terrorists practically the only way to have collateral casualties would be for one of these terror guys to be having sex with you with his clothes on and his pager in his pocket.

And what is the reaction to the largest counter terror attack in history with the fewest amount of innocents harmed in the process in history by those people who supposedly abhor risks to innocents?

Condemnation down the line.

Let’s be blunt, these folks aren’t anti war, they’re just on the terrorists side and want dead Jews.

And in my opinion if they manage to achieve the extermination of the Jews they won’t stop there

If I’m Trump I Hire the Mossad to Guard Me

I think this press conference by Ron DeSantis announcing an investigation of the Trump assassination attempt in Florida is telling:

He makes a good point that it’s important that a government that isn’t prosecute Trump investigate.

I would go a step farther, I think Trump needs to be protected by people who are not from a government that has been weaponized against him and his supporters.

So the question becomes who then?

It has to be a group with strong intelligence skills, a group adept in dealing with death threats and protecting people in constant danger, and a group skilled enough to react in time to save his life.

The obvious answer is the Mossad.

Any group that is able to blow the nuts off of thousands of their enemies without them having a clue when they are trying to murder Jews has the right stuff and don’t forget Israel has a vested interest in a Trump victory.

So if I’m Bibi, war situation or no, I’d offer Trump some Mossad agents to help protect him and if I’m Trump I let them do it or at least join the detail as observers to spot and holes that are being deliberately left open.

That’s my suggestion because remember one thing, it wasn’t the feds who caught this shooter, it was law enforcement in Florida.

Five Thoughts on Trying to Assassinate Trump 2nd Attempt

I’m old enough to remember when Democrats when an election loss was pending would try and figure out how to convince voters to consider them rather than encouraging people to murder their opponents.

Of course that was back in the days when I was a Democrat last century.

There have been a few humorous reactions to this event but nothing I’ve seen is funnier than this headline from the Daily Caller:

What makes it funny is that it’s true.

What really amazing about this story is that less that half a day before this 2nd assassination attempt Dana Bash was grilling J. D. Vance, Trump running mate trying to blame his and Trump rhetoric for various bomb threats in Springfield.

This begs the obvious question:

For some reason the base tweet won’t embed, not sure why.

While the tech giants were very quick to scrub Ryan Routh’s very left leaning social media it’s going to be rather hard to scrub all the various interactions he had with left media over the years.

What’s really interesting is that once Ron DeSantis announced that Florida would conduct it’s own investigation suddenly the FBI became talkative about Mr. Routh’s ahem “interesting” past.

Finally my worry concerning all these attempts at murder is pretty much the same as Robert E Lee worry on the Union Generals being swapped out.

He famously said he was afraid that eventually they’d put in charge someone who he didn’t understand.

Me I’m afraid that one of these attempts will eventually succeed.

Of course I’m reaching the point where I think it it gets close enough to election day and the result seems a forgone conclusion and all these attempt keep failing someone in authority in government will just bite the bullet and do it himself.

That the country has fallen so far that I actually contemplate this is amazing to me and extremely sad.
