Why is this woman smiling?

No, Minnesota! You can’t get away!

Matt Vespa:

For Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), she’s embroiled her whole party with an anti-Semitism fiasco that isn’t going away. It’s not her first time either. It’s pervasive. It’s repetitive. It brings forward legitimate allegations that she’s an anti-Semite. She said in 2012, that Israel is hypnotizing the world, then came the “all about the Benjamins” tweet concerning contributions and AIPAC, and now the gross accusation of dual loyalty concerning those who support Israel. The latter public relations flap is what forced the House to vote on a resolution that was initially one against anti-Semitism, but some Democrats found that problematic. Why should Omar be singled out? Oh, also Trump is…bad. Yeah, he was brought up. It showed that Nancy Pelosi is a weak speaker, who caved to this radical element within her party. What we got was a watered down resolution against…bad things.

As I said, this isn’t Omar’s first time. Back in Minnesota, she met with Jewish leaders who were concerned about her past remarks, especially the ‘Israel hypnotizing the world’ tweet. She hasn’t learned. And these folks are reportedly no longer treating her with kid gloves anymore. Minnesota State Sen. Ron Latz was the one who hosted the meeting prior to her election to the House last year. Now, he’s hearing chatter about local Democrats searching for people who can challenge Omar. The position is quite clear though; the local Jewish community has had it with Omar who refuses to listen[.]

And why should she listen? With her triple-threat diversity — black, female, Muslim — the Somalia-born Omar has the Democrat Party by its tender area. They won’t even address the probability that Omar violated immigration laws.

Thomas Wictor calls her the Smiling Somali. I doubt that there will be anything that happens in the 2020 House elections that will wipe the smile from her face. The battle and the shouts of racism! sexism! and Islamophobia! will be glorious, though.

For the record, I’m smiling also at the Democrat Party’s self-damage. It’s as if its leadership has a death wish — or that the leadership is getting really bad advice and is stupid enough to take it.

Neither, of course, is mutually exclusive.

There seem to be a lot of “interesting coincidences” going on with Egypt

Item: Today on WCRN there was an interesting caller linking the revolt in Egypt with the attacks on Coptic Churches in Egypt.

Frankly this hadn’t hit me before but it makes a lot of sense. The government came out strong against the attacks with members of the Mubarak family going so far as to be human shields during Church services.

Less than 4 weeks later they are calling for the fall of the dictator.

Item: Take a look at who is supporting revolt actively in Egypt:

The question is begged: What have Obama’s allies Ayers, Dohrn and Code Pink taught the Muslim Brotherhood and other anti-Mubarak organizations in Egypt about using protests, riots and the modern social media to coordinate their actions to undermine the Mubarak regime?

Being that they have common enemies–the United States, Israel, and governements allied with them–it is understandable that they would be allies. It must give them encouragement that President Obama has yet to disavow Jodie Evans and Code Pink, but instead continues to do business with them as Evans and Code Pink act as conduits between terrorists and Obama.

I’m sure when you read the whole piece you will dismiss as just coincidence the connections between Hamas, Code pink and Bill Ayers.

Item: It loses something in translation:

There you have it: the velvet glove with the word “Freedom”; the steel fist with the words “Make Ready” with its well-known Quranic reference. Actually, not steel fist – steel swords, crossed. The Muslim Brotherhood.

It is not “freedom” that they intend to bring to Egypt – or to anywhere else.

But just wait for the CIA, the State Department, the Administration, the mainstream media, and so many others to tell you the Muslim Brotherhood is all about little Aisha and freedom, and if you question them, you’re an Islamophobe (Shariah definition of “Islamophobe”: Blasphemer or Insulter of Islam, punishable by death in an Islamic state).

The Language barrier has apparently been a positive thing for the Muslim Brotherhood and they are very keen to preserve it.

And as Yid with Lid reports we all know who is behind this don’t we:

In a column published today on Media Matters political correction site, MJ Rosenberg claimed that the current Egyptian crisis was the fault of AIPAC and the “Israel Lobby.” For those of you who have lived on a different planet till today, “Israel Lobby” is a polite way of saying “Jews.” It is based on the old anti-Semitic canard that it is the Jews who control the United States government.

It doesn’t matter how you slice it the Anti-Semites will always manage to blame the Jews for everything.

Egyptians, like all people deserve the right to have leaders who govern by the consent of the governed. We need to keep our eyes wide open to make sure that this actually becomes the fact, rather than being governed by an Iranian or Islamic state.

Is that it answers Max Blumenthal who frankly deserves no answer only scorn.

With all due respect (very little is actually due here) one wonders if Blumenthal is off his proverbial rocker. This claim of anti-Muslim “hysteria”, without which his conspiracy theory unravels, is insanely false. One might even say it’s spastic. More accurately, it’s just another “astonishing act of left-handed legerdemain” of the sort that Blumenthal routinely engages in as he touts the very same falsehoods we are used to seeing from the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR). The latest statistics from the FBI tell quite a different story.

Max makes his living the way he makes his living, he frankly isn’t worth the attention but enough well-financed left leaning outlets promote him that it becomes necessary to make sure that voices of sanity are not crowded out by the dollars of the left.

Pay particular attention to the chart on page two, of the piece, it speaks volumes.

Meanwhile there is no comment about this poster from a banned Islamic group concerning the evils of Christmas out of England. I’m sure Max will get around to condemning it as soon as someone pays him a higher wage to do so.

then odds are you’ve crossed the line.

But hey Helen Thomas is an old lady it’s not like you have mainstream magazines advising people not to help out during Israel’s big fire right?

There are a great many good causes in Israel that deserve help, and a great many causes here in America that deserve our help. It seems to me, however, that Israel’s national fire service should be funded by Israel’s government, not by the people of Boca Raton, Potomac and the Upper West Side.

My sympathy is with the people who lost their lives, their families, and those still in danger. It is not with a government that appears to be negligent. And I’m not going to contribute funds that might serve to paper-over the government’s inadequacies.

You know I don’t quite remember his column saying that the US shouldn’t have accepted help in the BP disaster or that the rest of the country shouldn’t have helped New Orleans since the state was corrupt and didn’t use federal funding properly.

What is really odd, while bloggers like Jim Hoff are rightly upset at least one group of people are unexpectedly not taking Goldberg’s advice

Twenty-one Palestinian firefighters arrived at the Mount Carmel region on Sunday to assist Israel in its battle against the huge wildfire which has claimed the lives of 41 people.

Hey Jeff when even Palestinians are helping when you are advising otherwise, I’d say think again, but then again the American Left has really degenerated when it comes to Israel and Jews over the last 30 years. It’s been amazing to watch. I’m happy to see Alan Colmes hasn’t succumbed.

Update: Stacy nails it:

There is blood on her hands, just as there is blood on the hands of Hamas, Hezbollah, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades and al-Qaeda. Indeed, by her slanderous accusations against Israel, Helen Thomas dips her hands in the blood of Bobby Kennedy and proclaims to the world that RFK was wrong to support Israel, and that Bobby’s killer was right.

This is not a debate about U.S. foreign policy or about the terms of peace between Israel and Palestine.

We can debate such things civilly and amicably. But there can be no room in that debate for those like Helen Thomas who foment anti-Semitic paranoia by making accusations of mala fides against Israel’s allies, claiming that anyone who defends Israel is “owned” by shadowy Zionist conspirators.
