SHREVEPORT – Man, people are sick and tired of this Covid thing, hunh?!

I mean, I look back to a year ago: we were preparing to go back to school, many places were still locked down, most places had mask mandates, and here in Louisiana, bars were closed and restaurants operated at 50% capacity. We were still a few months away from a vaccine.

Today, hospitals are once again full, elective surgeries postponed, and case numbers are high and still climbing.

I’m in Louisiana and as of this writing there is no mask mandate. In my part of the state we are about 31% vaccinated. And compared to a year ago, people are living their lives once again: live music is back and concerts are packed with wall to wall people. Baseball is back, no more cardboard cutouts in the stands, and the stands are indeed filled with real people. Restaurants and stores are wide open. School is opening around the country without masks and without social distancing. Barack Obama is even having five hundred people out for his birthday party at Martha’s Vineyard! (Did you get your invite?!) He is, however, having a “Covid coordinator,” whatever that is.

So, what has changed? Our attitudes? Covid fatigue?

I think it is a little bit of all of that. I could be wrong, but I think most of us reject heavy government interference in our daily lives. Isn’t that the very foundation of our country? If I want to get a vaccine, it should be my private personal choice. Same with a mask. But wait, they say, you are endangering others by your personal choices! We have an obligation to public health! I don’t have all those moral answers.

But here is the thing that bothers me about the whole shebang. Covid-19 is caused by a virus. It’s science, basic science, and the whole thing should never have been politicized in the first place. Yes, both sides of the aisle manipulated this event for their own purposes. Everyone is guilty on that one. But for me, it is just science, and we have to deal with that now regardless of whether it is biological warfare, an accidental leak, or a natural evolution of the SARS virus. Whatever it is and wherever it came from, we have to deal with it.

What would we do differently here if this wasn’t so politically charged?

What would you do differently?

Ever since Joe Biden was illegitimately installed in the White House his administration has demonstrated a very remarkable disregard for the Constitution of the United States.  This was on full display last week when Biden’s press secretary announced that the Biden regime has deputized Social Media corporations formally as the official Ministry of Truth for the federal government of the United States.  This is in direct violation of First Amendment.

This New York Post article White House ‘flagging’ posts for Facebook to censor over COVID ‘misinformation’ fully documents the shameful business.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Thursday the Biden administration is identifying “problematic” posts for Facebook to censor because they contain “misinformation” about COVID-19.

Psaki disclosed the government’s role in policing social media during her daily press briefing after Surgeon General Vivek Murthy called on companies to purge more pandemic posts.

It absolutely not up to the federal government, or any level of government, to stop the flow of any type of information, whether it be disinformation or not.  Far too often governments label truthful information they do not like or is inconvenient to them as disinformation.

Censorship is a blatant violation of the First Amendment and is also a serious violation of the founding principles of the United States.  During the conference Biden’s press secretary and Surgeon General admitted to the censorship.

“We are in regular touch with the social media platforms and those engagements typically happen through members of our senior staff and also members of our COVID-19 team — given as Dr. Murthy conveyed, this is a big issue, of misinformation, specifically on the pandemic,” Psaki said.

Murthy said “we’re asking [social media companies] to consistently take action against misinformation superspreaders on their platforms.”

This quote by the Surgeon General pings the irony meter,  The only way to ensure individuals can make informed decisions is if they have access to all of the information from all sides of every issue.

“Misinformation takes away our freedom to make informed decisions about our health and the health of our loved ones during the COVID-19 pandemic. Health misinformation has led people to resist wearing masks in high-risk settings. It’s led them to turn down proven treatments and to choose not to get vaccinated. This has led to avoidable illnesses and deaths,” Murthy said.

Those on the political left have been proven wrong over and over again during this pandemic when it comes to science and medicine.  They have been distorting science for decades now to create a climate of fear so they can strip away the freedom and rights of all people.  Their response to the Coronavirus pandemic is the latest installment of this.

The political left has a very long history of labeling any information contrary to the progressive ideology as misinformation.  Something that is well documented in this Federalist article Democrats’ Definition Of ‘Misinformation’ Is Whatever Hurts Them Politically Today

Psaki maintains the government has “a responsibility, as a public health matter, to raise that issue” of people allegedly dying en masse because of uncensored Facebook posts that don’t comport with the White House’s vaccine messaging. This isn’t a caricature of the White House’s position either. When a reporter asked President Joe Biden directly last week what his message is to sites like Facebook, Biden replied, serious as a heart attack, “They’re killing people.”

What’s going on here isn’t really an attempt to save Americans from disease. It’s a desperate attempt by the ruling class to save their own rear ends from information that threatens their ideological goals.

Democrats at the helm of the executive and legislative branches aren’t looking to squash so-called misinformation because it’s the only way to keep people from dying (which still wouldn’t justify their authoritarianism, by the way). Biden, Psaki, and their friends in Congress and Silicon Valley are working to snuff out their opponents’ speech because not only do they think it will help them politically, as it likely did in the 2020 election, but because they believe they can get away with it — again, as they did in the 2020 election.

Marsha Blackburn is often on the right side of issues.  She is with this statement Marsha Blackburn Slams ‘Authoritarian’ Joe Biden for Working with Big Tech to Censor Americans

These revelations are deeply concerning.  The blatant actions by your administration to work with big tech companies to censor Americans’ free speech are shocking – and arguably a violation of the First Amendment.  Communist countries such as Cuba are currently taking away their citizens’ right to use the internet to communicate; the U.S. government should be standing up to, not looking to mirror, authoritarian regimes such as these

SHREVEPORT – Registration opens today for Louisiana’s “Shot at a Million” lottery campaign. To enter you must be a Louisiana resident and have had at least one Covid vaccine. Prizes include scholarships for those under 18, and cash for everyone else.

The campaign is the latest effort by Governor John Bel Edwards to get Louisiana citizens vaccinated against the Coronavirus.

“We need more people to go sleeves up before we can truly end the pandemic,” Edwards said at the press conference. “’Shot At A Million’ is a reward for those who’ve already gotten vaccinated and a fun nudge for others to get the vaccine sooner rather than later.”

The prizes are funded by federal COVID dollars.

This idea of rewarding people for getting the vaccine isn’t new; for months now states have been offering incentives to get the shot which have included free crawfish, burritos, tequila shots, amusement park tickets, and hot dogs.

The concept of rewarding people for doing “the right thing” trickles on down to the school level; positive behavior incentives in schools come in the form of “bucks” or tickets handed to kids who follow dress code, open doors for others, do their homework, that sort of thing. The theory is that everyone will show good behavior in order to get the incentives and be allowed to use those “bucks” in a school store for chips, candy, or homework passes.

Currently, Louisiana is near the bottom of the vaccinated population list with only 33% of our people having taken the shot. Highest ranked? Vermont, with 64%. So in theory, someone in Louisiana stands a 1 in 1,675,152 “shot” at winning a prize in the Louisiana vaccine lottery.

We will literally gamble on anything in Louisiana.

Just before Memorial Day Governor Charlie Baker finally lifted the majority of restrictions he single-handedly placed on all of the inhabitants of Massachusetts way back last March.  Gone are the capacity limits placed on restaurants and retail establishments, which were set at only25 percent.

Bars are finally allowed to open, those that were not forced to close permanently for financial reasons after having their doors shuttered for fifteen months.  Finally I can go to bars and enjoy craft beers and listen to live music !!! That is a past time I greatly enjoy and have not been able to do for more than a year.

I can go to restaurants without covering my face with a face diaper.  For a lengthy time we were required to wear masks at all times inside restaurants except when actually taking a bite. That was such a ridiculously bothersome rule that I stopped going to restaurants when that rule was imposed.   I am so enjoying eating out again. Unfortunately so many restaurants in Massachusetts closed because of Governor Bakers restrictions.  They could not remain open operating at only 25 percent capacity, imagine that.

Mask mandates were lifted and replaced with a mask advisory for those not vaccinated.  It is so wonderful to breath freely outdoors and indoors   I would have ignored mask mandates for just unvaccinated individuals.  That would have been unenforceable without vaccine passports, which are unconstitutional;  I am quite pleasantly astounded that Emperor Baker did not impose vaccine passports.   That is just the kind of big government fascism that our faux Republican governor has been saddling us with since the beginning of this pandemic.

School kids are still forced to wears masks, even during recess.  For the past several days it’s been in the 90s with high humidity.  Governor Baker is putting school children through hell and that is child abuse on a grand scale.

I am worried that in the fall there will be a slight spike in Coronavirus cases and Governor Baker will impose the same liberty and economy destroying restrictions again.  I am worried that some other crisis will come along, even an imaginary one such as climate change, and locked down we will be again.  Governor Baker is a firm believer in man made global warming.  He singed Massachusetts up for an interstate compact to fight climate change which saddled us with a hefty new gas tax.

We the people must demand that the state legislature reign in the Governor’s emergency declarations powers so that this nightmare never happens again.  I am not confident at all that that would happen. The people of this state have proved to be for the most part compliant sheeple.  Not that I expected anything different.  This is the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts after all.
