Taurus Killgaren: [last words] This destiny of greatness is yours and yours alone, Syzygy. You can’t paint me a Villain trying to steal your place of glory. Once it becomes clearer to you you’ll realize your fate is one not many would covet. I know I’m about to die, but even so I’d not trade places with you for all the Treasures of the Universe.

The Price Jim Starlin 1981

It’s almost superfluous to start this post saying that I feel bad for LeBron James and wish the best for his family in general and his son in particular and hope that he still manages to achieve the goal of at least one NBA game if not a full season playing on the same team as his son Bronny.

As a father of two sons I’d hate to be in the position he is today worried about his sons health after a heart attack (or “cardiac arrest if you want to split hairs). It’s actually something I’ve thought about more than once. My father died of a heart attack at age 66 and had them regularly during the final five to ten years of his life, I’m only six years younger than him right now and run about 280 lbs. There is every probability that I will share that fate (although perhaps a bit later as I never smoked and rarely drink as he did for most of his life) and as both of my sons are bigger than me both in size and weight there is a possibility that I could live to see one of them have a heart attack. It’s not a pleasant thought.

But lets be real, I’m a sixty year old man from a family with a history of heart problems who is very overweight and I’m telling you right now if I was morbid enough to have approached a bookie a week, or a month or a year ago and put up $100 that Bronny James, the physically fit all American NBA prospect son of the greatest star in NBA history who is still active (I’d still take Russell over him all time) would suffer any kind of “cardiac arrest” or heart attack before I or one of my sons did today I’d be collecting enough money today to retire comfortably. The odds of that would seem astronomical, but there is of course one vital difference between myself, my sons and young Mr. James.

LeBron James declared that the COVID Vaccine was the right decision for him and his family and I’m sure this decision caused others who were hesitant to take the covid shot(s).

Nobody in my immediate family did. Not one of us.

And that is why I would hate to be Lebron today. He of course will be able to make sure his son gets the best medical care available in the world but a scenario where he might not be able to play basketball again at the college level or at all on the professional level is a real possibility and of course like any father he would gladly take that possibility in a second over anything worse that’s life threatening.

There is also the possibility that there will be no further issues with Bronny’s heart and we all hope that is the case here but regardless of the result it’s very likely that for the rest of his life LeBron is going to be second guessing his decision to take the shot and have his family get it. The fact that he also spent years carrying water for the Chinese communists who made the virus and did so for cash likely isn’t playing well with him either. I suspect these things are going to be a source of horrible pain, pain that I wouldn’t wish on anyone and I certainly wouldn’t trade places with him today, money and fame not withstanding.

But I’ll tell you this, as much I’d hate to be in Lebron’s shoes today I’d hate to be the Fauci and his vax pack in media and medicine who pushed this on people. They are likely the only people praying for Bronny’s full recovery as hard if not harder than the James family because if LeBron decides to blame these liars for misinforming him he has the cache to not be ignored or cancelled for it and thus is in a position to make things miserable for them for decades, and if he does a lot of other regular people who have been silent might just pick up the pitchforks behind him.

God help the Vax Pack if Bronny takes a turn for the worse and James decides he wants vengeance. Imagine a person with that kind of reach deciding their goal is your destruction.

Closing thought: I wonder how many professional sports players who had themselves and their families take the jab are jealous of Kyrie Irving today?

I call these people “shot-committed”, a play on “pot-committed” in poker — a situation where you have too much money in the pot to fold, even if you know you’re behind.

Simulation Commander in comments:

I read this piece On Friendship With Self Righteous Cowards concerning those who still three years will not only not admit they were wrong about the COVID shots but still look down upon those who were right.

The piece was very good but the comments were where the action was to wit (all spelling retained):

Its sad. My pulmonary doctor brother in law has never reached out, Apologized or acknowledged anything…even after they required/demanded myself and my unvaxxed family take tests prior to our gathering for Christmas only for they themselves to all come down ill with covid that following February after their 3 plus shots. I honestly I dont ignore them…we pretend nothing happened but they are sort of dead to me now in a general sense…I feel nothing for them…ambivalent at best if only for the sake of my in laws and keeping the peace. They want us to visit but I can not bring myself to bother …plus it’s San Fran which is not real inviting either. They were willing to make our ailing in laws be alone for every holiday and then insisted on making us feel like dirty disease spreaders even when science and common sense contradicted this plainly and that in my opinion became clear very early on..my family had covid in early 2021 prior to vax so our risk of spread was at par with vaxxed. They are both doctors as well….and my brother in law even pushed us to vax our healthy 16 year old who had already had covid. I can’t. They were supposed to be smart but I lost all respect for doctors and the medical community after this. I am a CPA and could follow the freaking logic better than them….totally blind to their own politically driven group think. Yeah I can’t really go back…the emperor has no clothes. (Reference to a childhood fairy-tale)

I’m reminded of the hoops that my wife had to jump through including at one point getting a job in another state turning a 15 min drive to work to a 45 minute drive over her request for a religious exemption before she was able to find a place that accepted her religious exemption just before a deadline that not only required the shot but required all boosters if you got the shot.

It reminded me of this commentator:

My un-jabbed son was banished from his NYC office in Dec 2021 by government decree because he was un-jabbed. He was exiled to New Jersey. When the jab mandate was lifted, his NYC office asked when he would return. He said “never” because he found NJ to be a better place to work – no mandate and a new group of co-workers who didn’t recoil when he entered a room. Walking away can be the best choice in matters of principle.

We were lucky in one sense, neither me nor my retired brothers, nor my sons got the shot. My wife and oldest son got religious exemptions and my youngest and I both worked places where it was not required. This created a social circle, furthermore while at my church the people I shared daily mass people were a mix of vaccinated and unvaccinated the judgement that others faced it not surface.

But for others the denial is strong to wit:

Had this text exchange with friends last week. Context was RFJ Jr. being correct on Covid shots.

Friend: 10X more people would have died without the shots. Vaccines are the new modern science.

Me: Who here got the shot and still caught Covid?

Friend 2: Vax is not preventative. Purpose is to mitigate symptoms.

Friend: Shorten illness and contagion so less are exposed (with a link to Harvard article).

Friend: But anti-vaxxers only care about themselves not humanity.

Me (feeling like I was in a 2021 time warp): Remind me why we had vax mandates. It was to prevent us from killing Grandma. Fauci told us if we got the shot we would not catch it and not spread it.

Friend: False.

Me: Why did we have mandates then?

Friend: We did not have mandates.

Of course, he made the shot mandatory for his employees.

I was incredulous that after everyone in the group caught Covid, they still felt this way about the shot, including the fellow R in the group (Friend 2).

The real question to many is: Why don’t they just take the “L” and move on? I think Ruth :

I haven’t gotten an apology or even an ACKNOWLEDGMENT that the shots didn’t work. They still say it prevented you from having a bad case and dying🙄. I think it’s PRIDE. people cannot admit they were wrong because then they would have to face the fact the government (which they all trust) lied to them. And that would open up a entire can of worms that they cannot deal with. That’s a biggy, my government lies!😳

And the woman who replied to her

Yes, and admitting the government lied to you whilst simultaneously holding a worldview where total government control will bring about equity and utopia means letting go of said worldview = total psychic collapse. So you see, you’ll be waiting a long time for an apology.

have it down pat.

It’s like being in Germany after the war we’re all living in a revival of Judgement at Nuremburg:

Mrs. Bertholt: I saw Mr. Perkins today. He told me they’d showed those pictures in the courtroom. Col. Lawson’s favorite pictures. He drags them out at any pretext, doesn’t he? Col. Lawson’s private chamber of horrors. Is that what you think we are? Do you think we knew of those things? Do you think we wanted to murder women and children? Do you believe that? Do you?

Judge Dan Haywood: Mrs. Bertholt, I don’t know what to believe.

Mrs. Bertholt: Good God. We’re sitting here drinking. How could you think that we knew? We did not know. We did not know!

Judge Dan Haywood: As far as I can make out, no one in this country knew.

The moment they admit they were wrong is the moment they have to accept responsibility and see themselves in the light of truth. I’ll close with the closing exchange from Judgement at Nuremburg:

Ernst Janning: Judge Haywood… the reason I asked you to come: Those people, those millions of people… I never knew it would come to that. You *must* believe it, *You must* believe it!

Judge Dan Haywood: Herr Janning, it “came to that” the *first time* you sentenced a man to death you *knew* to be innocent.

Rabbi: Jesus, please explain why you stopped the reading before Isiah spoke of the day of vengeance of our God, especially during a time of such oppression?

Jesus: The day of vengeance is in the future. I’m not here for vengeance, I’m here for salvation.

The Chosen Physician, Heal Yourself 2022

Yesterday my family and I were at the minor league ball park in Worcester thanks to a 4 pack of tickets my youngest won at work. There was according to weather.com a 20% chance of rain and those numbers came up so we waited 45 minutes for the game to start and very much enjoyed the heat lamps that were all around the covered to warm ourselves up.

By the bottom of the 7th it wasn’t looking well for the home team who couldn’t manage to get the key hit to drive in the tying runs when the chance presented itself so I moved up to where the heat lamps where. Most of them were still had groups of people but one of them near home plate was empty so I parked myself there as I urged the home team to throw strikes while on the mound and have a good eye at the plate.

Within a minute or two I was joined by a tall gentleman about my own age and we started talking about the game, the various players and the online league which I run (posting to come soon) etc which is the type of thing that the pace of baseball allows and is one of the joys of going to any ballpark. His son-in-law had season tickets so he often was able to catch a game and spoke highly of the various season ticket combos offered.

At one point my wife decided to refill her water bottle at the water bottle refill station. Seeing me with the fellow she walked by and made a flirty remark about me and my hat. The fellow grinned as guys do when that happens to a fellow and I explained that the flirting lady was my wife of 35 years. At that point the reason for my presence there became clear.

One of the things I talk about on my “Your Prayer Intentions” radio show and have as part of my regular prayer rotation is an offering to notice the works of God all around us and one of those works is to put people where they need to be.

At this point the man’s face became more serious and a change came over him. He told me two years ago that his wife of 38 years had in his own words “died suddenly”. I didn’t press him on what had happened but as it was near the end of the month I asked if he was catholic to offer his wife a place on our monthly indulgence calendar for me. It turned out he was and eagerly jumped at my offer and so I took her name and will be remembering her there and in next week’s radio show along with him family. When my oldest walked by he too took the name to ad it to his prayer list.

The fellow was very grateful. It was very clear that he misses her terribly and that there is a giant hole in his life from her loss, which his son in law has helped fill with the season tickets and as we were leaving found us again to thank us for our kind words and prayers which he needed desperately and that God had seen fit to put us there at that rainy game so I could be under that sun lamp to be there and offer consolation and prayer. Daily baseball is an excellent tonic and distraction for a soul in pain but sharing that pain when one might not normally do so is even better.

But that’s not all that went through my mind when this was happening.

The age of the gentleman, about my own or maybe a year or two older or younger and the “sudden death” of his longtime spouse immediately suggested the COVID shot to me. It’s a story I’ve read about and seen time and time again online and while I did have a vaccinated in-law die of COVID his many other complications before the outbreak didn’t make his death all that “unexpected”, this was the first person I had met who had experienced such an unexpected loss.

Now in fairness I don’t know if in this case the culprit was the shot as I wasn’t about to interrogate him on the matter but it hits me that there are thousands of people who like him have suddenly lost spouses, children and loved ones “unexpectedly” who CAN trace the problem to the shot and have to live every day with that loss that shouldn’t have happened and frankly didn’t have to.

When I ponder that I think of Biden and Fauci and Trudeau and every petty tyrant in government and in corporate America who made people choose between the jab and their livelihood and/or education and think of how much pain and suffering they have to answer for.

It’s in those moments that a good Catholic has to remember that Christ died for ALL sinners without exception and pray that all those involved in those events take advantage of the mercy that Christ offers while they have the chance because the alternative to Christ mercy for our sins is his justice according to our deeds.

And the clock is ticking.

…but these days when a 27 year old star dies unexpectedlyTM you can bet your bottom dollar it will say something like this:

Guardia posted about the loss and revealed Figueroa’s cause of death in an Instagram post shared Monday. “It saddens me to announce the passing of my beloved son Julián Figueroa, who has unfortunately preceded us in parting from this level,” read her post, translated to English per Billboard.

The actress said she was at the theater when her son was found unconscious at his home. “They called 911 and when the ambulance and police arrived, they found him already lifeless, with no traces of violence,” she wrote. “The medical report indicates that he died of an acute myocardial infarction and ventricular fibrillation.”

You know there was a time that if you went to twitter and clicked on the #unexpectedly tag nine out of ten tweet would be me noting something the left did “#unexpectedly of course” with the odd tweet or porn video mixed in. Over the last three years however it become dominated by pictures of young people and kids (and a few old folks 60 and up) who have suddenly dropped dead when they were the picture of health. #unexpetedly of course.\

When you think about it, I guess these are drug related deaths after all, just not the traditional ones like Coolio.

In a completely unrelated story:

Switzerland’s Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) announced that COVID vaccines are no longer recommended—even for people at high risk.

I wonder what the rate of myocardial infarction and ventricular fibrillation is there compared to three years ago?
