When Barack Obama was elected I was making $20 working mostly from home with excellent Benefits, sick and vacation pay.

When Barack Obama left office eight years later I was working as a temp with no vacation or holiday pay at $9.50 an hour and that only because I worked 3rd shift and got a differential

When Donald Trump was elected I was still a temp making $9.50 with no benefits, no vacation pay or holiday pay.

Today 30 months into Donald Trump’s 1st Term I have a full time permanent 2nd shift job with good benefits, vacation and holiday pay at a wage over 50% higher than the day he took office.

I strongly suspect I am not the only person in this position.

The last of my posts written pre-system disaster went up yesterday so here are five thoughts with no live links or graphics under my fedora. I’ll put full URL’s at the end so you can go to the stories using copy and paste.

At PJ Media via Instapundit comes numbers that would shock twitter (does anything NOT shock twitter?) concerning black voters. Trump gotten a bump in support despite the entire media/left screaming racist tweets.

I strongly suspect this is become a lot of black voters live in cities like Baltimore and know what he was saying is true and are glad that someone is actually talking about it in a way that might force action.

Could Trump actually embarrass the Dems enough to clean up their messes? I doubt it, because if he gets credit for it then the Black vote and the national elections it helps Democrats win are gone for a generation.

At Business Insider there is an excellent piece about the culture shock of moving his family from Hollywood to a small town in Idaho and the discoveries that said liberal made. He was shocked that people had their valuables in plain sight, kept their doors unlocked and tended to help each other without any kind of angle.

He also noticed that it was a highly churched culture, heavenly armed and not very diverse. I wonder if there is a connection there?

You might remember that in the last Dem debate Tulsi Gabbard hit Kamila Harris on her record as Attorney General. By an odd coincidence a redesign of the California Department of Corrections no longer gives access to information concerning incarceration during the years that Ms Harris served, now displaying only the current year.

In fairness it is the home state of Nixon. No word if any relatives of the late Rosemary Woods were involved.

————————

The real irony of the success of the Gabbard hit on Harris isn’t that Harris biggest worry isn’t that she might have been a overzealous or a crooked prosecutor but that during her time she might have actually enforced a law that was on the books that liberals didn’t like.

Don’t you know only laws that GOP voters like are to be defied with impunity by those sworn to uphold them?

Finally the Red Sox have lost five straight for the first time in four years, managed to let an opponent beat them 8 times in Fenway for the 1st time in 53 years (1966 Orioles) and are playing like they know they aren’t going anywhere this year.

I would remind the world series champs that while there is nothing wrong with acknowledging that you can’t win them all, as professionals, particularly professionals on the club with the highest payroll in the league, you are being PAID to try to win them all.

It’s possible it could turn around and they have a punchers chance but I wouldn’t bet the farm on them this year without very attractive odds being given

Today at Hotair we see that CBS has provided proof that Donald Trump’s assertions about Baltimore

are in fact true

Charm City ended 2018 with a total of 309 murders, according to the Baltimore Police Department. So far in 2019, police report 196 homicides have occurred. Using the U.S. Census Bureau’s July 2018 population estimate for the city of 602,495, Baltimore’s 2018 murder rate is 51.3 murders per 100,000 residents.

The article ends with two simple words. CLAIM: TRUE.

The real significance of this piece is that it is NOT from CBS news, but from CBS Baltimore the local affiliate.

What does this mean, it means DaTechGuy’s 3rd law of Media outrage is at work.

The MSM’s elevation and continued classification of any story as Nationally Newsworthy rather than only of local interest is in direct correlation to said story’s current ability to affirm any current Democrat/Liberal/Media meme/talking point, particularly on the subject of race or sexuality.

Because of the confirmation of the White House assertion is diametrically opposed to the Democrat/Liberal/Media meme/talking points concerning the president they can not be safely reported on the national level.  They can however be safely reported on the local level by CBS Baltimore because the people in Baltimore already know how dangerous their city.

More importantly it allows them CBS to counter any claim they that they are hiding the fact by stating they in fact covered the story, they just did so without raising said coverage to national level, after all there are only so many minutes in a CBS news broadcast you know.

If I was the White House I’d have President Trump shout from the rooftops that CBS has confirmed their claims and if I was his campaign I’d have a bunch of blogs along with a bunch of people on twitter not only tweeting out CBS CONFIRMS WHITE HOUSE ASSERTION ON BALTIMORE, but I’d have a dedicated crew of bloggers searing the local CBS, NBC, ABC and PBS affiliates for stories like this that get burred on the local level.

But that’s just me.

From a recent conversation:

Them: “I didn’t vote for President Obama either time. You know that. But I like him.”

Me: “Really?”

Them: “I can’t stand Trump! I know you’re on the Trump Team.”

The Trump Team? We’re on teams now?

Me: “I’m not on the ‘Trump Team.’ I’m on the side of our country. And President Trump has done many good things for it.”

Them (scoffs): “What has he done?”

Me: His policies have brought about lower unemployment. Black unemployment is at its lowest since …”

Them (interrupts): “NO, IT’S NOT! IT’S THE SAME AS IT WAS WHEN OBAMA WAS PRESIDENT!”

That’s when I knew I had to compose this post. But before I did, I created a page containing links to my many posts during the 2016 presidential campaign in which I expressed skepticism about Donald Trump’s intentions. In short, I thought he was playing conservatives and was in cahoots with Hillary Clinton to get her into the White House.

There are a lot of links on that page, so if you don’t have time to read them, don’t worry. But, I don’t believe in hiding my errors.

Also on that page are indications of my evolution into becoming a supporter of now President Trump.

Do I like him? It’s a question that does not matter. He’s not my friend or my boss. He’s not going to marry into my family nor will anyone in my family marry into his. I like that he is mostly good for our country, I like that he wants that which is good for it, and I like that he isn’t all talk.

I could post the many forms of beneficial action which President Trump has taken, but I want to focus on the most recent topic since the majority of my American family lives in the South and Southwest: Illegal immigration.

Yes, I’ve ranted about it before but, as I type this, we are seeing the beginning of results of this president putting Mexico’s feet to the fire.

Mexico has long been allowing MILLIONS of citizens of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras to walk through its southern border and sojourn through its land en route to the United States.

And why wouldn’t Mexico allow this? Why the flock not? Hey, it’s a chance to shake down these people, rape them, rape their children and turn them into drug mules. And, just spit-balling here, it’s also a chance for Mexican banks to get their hands on monies belonging to international organizations like Pueblo Sin Fronteras (PSF). The Chicago-based PSF has been at the forefront of bringing Central Americans through Mexico to the United States since 2008.

One thing: this flood of illegal aliens has been nothing but a hindrance to the well-being of Americans who are black.  Did I mention that the person I was talking to is black?

But what really got to me was the notion of Barack Obama’s “likability.”

I didn’t want to ask why this person likes the former president because we were already past the point of reasoning together. But I tried to think of what was likable about Former President Obama versus the things that would cause a person to dislike President Trump. Of course, that didn’t take long.

One president talks in a calm, even manner. He’s youthful, slim and has close-cropped salt-and-pepper hair. He will compliment you and try to assuage your doubts.

The other president is old, a little overweight, and funny-looking; that hair, though. And he speaks bluntly and will hurt your feelings.

It would be easy to like the “likable” one, if we didn’t also know that, as a state senator, he voted against saving babies who are born following botched abortions.

… if he hadn’t said that wouldn’t “punish” one of his own daughters with a baby, if one of them had become pregnant before age 18.

… if we didn’t know about Benghazi

… if we didn’t know about Operation Fast and Furious.

… if we didn’t know what he did for Iran.

(If I listed everything that President Likable did to harm this country and its people, this post would be endless.)

But, because he fornicated us with a smile, he’s likable.

Conversely, it’s okay to dislike the one who does almost everything alleged conservatives say they want and who, among many other things, is executing effective action to secure this nation’s borders and strengthen its economy.

Fact is, most people will accept tyranny if the tyrant blows smoke up their a**es.

And will hate the harsh one with the old man hair;  the one who tries to fix things.

Even the things they care about.

Even while they are prospering.

Thinking about this, I’m glad that Jesus never told His followers to like their neighbor as themselves, since I spend a lot of time disliking my neighbors — even the ones that I love.

Even the ones who are unable to discern friend from foe or good from evil.
