As a general rule it’s not a good idea to blame others for the actions of an individual.  For example when Maurice Hill decided to shoot a bunch of police coming to arrest him, it was likely not a political statement on police, had nothing to do with folks like Senators Kamala Harris or Elizabeth Warren falsely claiming the Michael Brown was murdered by a policeman, and did not originate from the general attempt by the left to paint police officers as dangerous oppressors of blacks in America both on the campaign trail and on the various cable news stations.

However they DO own the fact that as a matter of policy Mr. Hill was in a position to commit these shootings as Stacy McCain explains:

Two years ago, left-wing billionaire George Soros wrote a $1.45 million check to Larry Krasner’s campaign for district attorney of Philadelphia. This is a gigantic sum to spend on a local election, and enabled Krasner to defeat six rivals in the 2017 Democrat primary, then coast to a landslide victory in the general election. Krasner ran as the anti-police candidate, and has made it his official policy to turn dangerous criminals loose on the streets of Philadelphia. One of the beneficiaries of Krasner’s policies, Maurice Hill, had an extensive criminal record — drug charges, aggravated assault, perjury, fleeing and eluding, escape and weapons offenses — before he engaged in a shootout Wednesday in North Philadelphia that wounded six cops.

When you have a policy of not enforcing the law, folks like Mr. Hill are on the streets breaking it with impunity.  The US attorney’s office had something to say on the matter that is quoted by both Stacy & Ace:

The alleged shooter last night, Maurice Hill, is a previously convicted felon with a long rap sheet. We have plenty of criminal laws in this City — but what we don’t have is robust enforcement by the District Attorney. Instead, among other things, we have diversionary programs for gun offenses, the routine downgrading of charges for violent crime, and entire sections of the criminal code that are ignored.

The criminal laws in this City — and especially the existing gun laws and drug laws — should be aggressively enforced in order to protect the public and the police. My Office is doing all that we can. We have prosecuted 70% more violent crime cases this year than we did last year, in response to the District Attorney’s lawlessness. But it is now time for the District Attorney and his enablers to stop making excuses for criminals. It is time for accountability. It is time to support law enforcement and to put the good people of this City first.

Now it doesn’t matter that George Soros spent a fortune on this DA’s race, the people of Philadelphia could have rejected him and his policies and voted GOP however the last republican mayor of Philly left office in 1952 more than a decade before I was born.

So the Democrats own this city, they own it’s DA, they own its Mayor and they own the Policies that made sure Maurice Hill was not behind bars.  And they certainly own the folks who were riding the police during the standoff while Hill was shooting them.

Two closing thoughts.

Democrat candidates for president will do their best to ignore this event on the stump and during interviews as it not only undercuts their gun control message (imagine a criminal illegally having a gun!) but forces them to thread the needle of “Cops are killers and oppressors” which is the message that their radical base wants to hear and “our hearts go out to the families of the wounded officers” which the still sane parts of the party and swing voters would demand of them.  Much easier to let the story die.

If I’m Donald Trump I bring this up at every single rally and every single stop to make sure the story doesn’t die.  I’d force them to try to thread that needle every single day.

Today (Thursday) is the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary a holy day of obligation so my day began with mass at 8 to fulfill my duty as a Catholic.

However my plans for the rest of the day are not my normal Thursday routine. Instead of getting ready for my last day of work for the week I will be heading up to Manchester NH to cover the President’s rally due to begin at 7 pm.

Thanks to the change in the economy since the last time I covered the future President during a campaign I was able to take a vacation day rather than rushing to cover then candidate Trump and then rushing to work still wearing my suit & press credential when I punched in and walked onto the floor.

That had been my plan today and if the Campaign had not decided to reject my media credential request I would at this moment be on the road grabbing a parking place half a day early and talking to the crowd that I suspect is already gathering to see him.

I decided against contacting Corey Lewandowski or folks from the NH GOP who I’ve covered for years to reverse this, I’m too old and too Sicilian for that.  If the campaign doesn’t want me there so be it.

If I had been there my plan had been to collect data for a question in my mind that I wanted to answer:

“What does the Trump base think of proposed ‘redflag’ laws and will disappointing them on the issue be enough to make them stay home in 2020?”

I think I know what the answer to that question will be, but would have rather spoken from hard data than my best guess, no matter how informed said guess might be.

New Hampshire is the perfect place to ask this question for three reasons.

1. It has a history of rejecting GOP candidates who disappoint them on the 2nd amendment see Scott Brown circa 2014.

2. Their governor Sununu , no movement conservative he, recently vetoed three anti-gun bills that the Democrat legislature passed in the wake of current events.

3. New Hampshire was a state President Trump lost by a hair in 2016 (47.62% to 47.25%) and is one that due to the booming economy might be expected to do better in circa 2020 even if there is a large run of Massachusetts voters suddenly appearing at the Granite State polls

It would have been wonderful to have a third chance to pose a question at a Trump campaign press conference, and frankly being able to question a sitting President would be the apex of any bloggers career, the real action however in my opinion, that matters in terms of Election 2020 is how his voters answered that question.

That’s, in my opinion, the story of the day, however I won’t be there to tell it.

But rest assured there will be plenty of members of the MSM who will be there, and their story of the day will be that the President is a racist, sexist, white supremacist whose economy is on the verge of recession and that those who support him are at best delusional or at worst aspiring Nazis who all aspire to be mass killers.

The fact that with minor variations this is the same story of the day that they have been telling since January 20th 2017 and before doesn’t seem to bother them as it fits in perfectly with the world view in their bubble.

Now maybe it’s just me but I’d think it would be a good idea to challenge this meme with 1st hand reporting and video to show it for the nonsense it is but hey if the President’s campaign doesn’t want that message challenged by someone like me, who am I to tell them otherwise?

In election 2018 New Hampshire did what it tend to do every two years on the local level flip control. The Democrats took the majority in the state senate 14-10 reversing the previous margin while in the house the 212 to 167 GOP edge became a 233 – 167 Democrat majority. However Governor Chris Sununu managed to keep his seat as governor.

The New Hampshire being just as left as other leftist or more with refugees from Massachusetts regularly pouring in was anxious to push a radical agenda in the state and the governor has been a veto machine with 51 to his credit.

His three latest are of particularly interest, because with Dayton and El Paso in the news NH Democrats, as Granite Grok reported decided that 39 days after passing three anti-gun bills but not sending them to the governor it was time to strike!

The motivations for sending the legislation to Sununu’s desk at this exact moment is evident to anyone with an IQ above room temperature, on its face alone, not even accounting for the fact that they trampled all over their own minimum wage presser and messaging by doing so, which only adds to the transparency of the exercise.

The substance of these bills has been covered many times already, so I won’t go into it again, other than to remind you that the Governor only has three more days now to decide to Veto, Sign, or allow to become law.

It was a smart plan, you have the national media pushing this stuff bigtime, a moderate gop governor in the state house and hints nationally that the president might even consider some new gun laws. I’m sure there were many who thought that Sununu would allow these bills to be come law with our without his signature…right up until the moment he didn’t:

Late Thursday afternoon, without pomp and circumstance, Governor Sununu held true to his campaign promises and killed the latest and last 3 gun control bills of the year, despite mounting pressure from the press and the Democrats.

The Governor has frequently and repeatedly announced his support for leaving the gun laws of our state as they are, saying “Look, I think the laws we have on firearms in the state are pretty darn good and I’m not looking for any additional restrictions at this time,” to reporters in February.

Turns out he meant it.

As the group progun NH put it:

The governor is right, we don’t need new laws just so politicians can smile and pretend they did something when in fact they did nothing good at all. ProGun NH thanks the governor for his steadfast support of law abiding NH citizens and keeping New Hampshire one of the safest states in the USA.

With the president due in the state in a few days the importance of the governor’s decision can’t be overstated.

As you might have heard Joe Biden, true to form, made a rather stupid gaffe on the campaign trail.

Now it’s not unusual for an old man born in a different era, even if they are not named Joe Biden, to say something impolitic in public but for the leading presidential candidate of a national party to so do, and do so on video meaning it can be easily disseminated, that type of story is one that would be normally considered “newsworthy”, particularly in an era of “trigger warnings” and in fairness there has been some coverage.

Time magazine gave it a whole five paragraphs the strongest being:

Biden has been criticized for his tendency to say awkward, sometimes surprising, things. When his future boss, Barack Obama, was running for president, Biden once remarked that Obama was “clean” and “articulate,” a remark that raised eyebrows.

Ooh Burn!

The Washington Post’s piece was a bit longer. Here are the key bits:

She [Biden’s deputy campaign manager] also fired back at the Trump campaign for having promoted the video.

“As we approach the two year anniversary of Trump calling neo-Nazis and Klansmen ‘very fine people,’ Donald Trump is desperate to change the subject from his atrocious record of using racism to divide this country,” Bedingfield said, referencing Trump’s comments following the deadly confrontation in Charlottesville in 2017 between self-proclaimed white nationalists and protesters.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, another Democratic White House hopeful, also sought to draw attention to Biden’s comments — as well as his campaign’s response.

“To quickly dismiss @JoeBiden’s words as a mere ‘slip of the tongue’ is as concerning as what he said,” de Blasio said on Twitter. “We need to have a real conversation about the racism and sexism behind ‘electability.’ ”

So they hit Biden with a line from one of the weakest candidates in the Democrat field and not only allow Biden’s spokes person to spin his gaffe away but one again spread a false meme about Trump.

Talking Points Memo included this tweet from the today show:

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

“Raised Eyebrows” wow that’s tough. How about the article itself:

While the remarks were seemingly a slip of the tongue, Biden’s been criticized for his record on race in recent weeks, particularly his past views on busing as a means of desegregation and his remarks about working with segregationist lawmakers in the past. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) called out Biden during the first round of Democratic presidential debates, in an exchange that went viral and boosted Harris’ polling numbers significantly.

and USA today via Yahoo:

Speaking about his education plan, which would triple federal investment in lower-income school districts, Biden said the country should challenge students and increase the number of advanced placement programs in those schools.

“We have this notion that somehow if you’re poor you cannot do it. Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids,” Biden said, before adding: “Wealthy kids. Black kids. Asian kids. No, I really mean it. But think how we think about it.”

“They can do anything anybody else can do, given a shot,” Biden added.

It’s as he never said a thing.

finally there is the daily beast, also via yahoo which not only included a quote from the Trump campaign:

President Trump’s re-election campaign was quick to seize on the slip-up and share a video of the remarks. “Yikes… have fun mitigating that one,” Andrew Clark, rapid response director for the Trump campaign, wrote on Twitter.

but actually noticed the irony involved

Biden, who has dubbed himself a “gaffe machine” for his well-documented history with verbal blunders and embarrassing slip-ups, has yet to comment on his remarks, which came just hours after he said President Trump “encourages white supremacists.”

Mind you this is the roughest coverage that anyone in the MSM has given Biden on this story. It’s as if they had bought themselves a RonCo Gaffe-scratcher guaranteed to remove Gaffe’s or your money back!

All of this coverage is designed to make this a one day story that doesn’t even make it below the fold which objectively it would be and should stay as long as nobody of consequence in the Democrat field touches it.

In a time when news media was interested in reporting news that would be perfectly fine, but re-read that coverage again and ask yourself this question.

If the speaker at that Iowa event was Donald Trump or even Mitt Romney instead of Joe Biden how would that story have played in those stories.

They would have been full of statement from prominent Democrats deploying them and calling him to step down, there would be journalists asking every republican in congress to comment on the statements. Panels on the cable news networks would be discussing it daily and till election day it would be a theme of the coverage.

And if you don’t believe me do a search of the phrase “Binders of women”

Now it only remains to be seen if President Trump decides to have fun with it the next time the Democrat / Media falsely quote him on Chancellorsville.
