With the league Draft a few days away ( and a 2nd league draft one week farther out) let’s turn to twitter for some updates on the war between Israel & Hamas:
A really big roundup here
Some updates and reports from contacts in Rafah/Gaza:
1. Hamas is reportedly digging several contingency tunnels into Egypt to prepare for the escape of a large number of its upper-level commanders, members, leaders, and administrators in the event of a full Israeli ground…
7. Mid and upper-level Hamas government administrators, political members, and families of senior Qassam Brigade fighters & commanders are super set with access to all the tents, aid, food, supplies, medicine, and resources needed to sit the rest of the war out.
Cue my shocked face
What’s that old saying? Familiarity breeds contempt.
Hi Hussain, Since this recent war has begun: a barrel of Oil has not not toped $80, Saudi Ministers have met Israelis, Egypt is still buying Israeli gas…
In Short : the "Palestinian " issue is more of an Issue on the campus of Columbia U. than in Riyadh, Cairo or Amman.
Well in fairness none of the leaders in the middle east jobs are at stake over this war.
Perhaps he should be called an anti-social worker
“An UNRWA social worker kidnapped my son. How can someone working for an organization that claims to do good in this world do something so cruel and inhumane? Antonio Guterres, you are next door. I ask you: Where is my son? Bring him back home.” https://t.co/Z7DMpkVlqd
However bad you think the UN in general and UNRWA in particular are, it’s not enough.
A tragic reminder of the dangers of delusions:
Tamar Kedem-Siman Tov, a social activist, feminist and peace seeker, was running for the leadership of the Eshkol local council on the Gaza border with the slogan “Building a Shared Future”. The election was due in October. Tamar was butchered by Hamas with her husband Yoni, all… https://t.co/3uWtEVTECe

Reality doesn’t care what positive attributes you assign to those trying to kill you.
Although some people are capable of learning after the fact:
Pro-Palestinian activist changed her mind after seeing what Palestinian terrorists did to Jewish families on October 7.pic.twitter.com/qcMbNmQtrW
Do you really want to live in a society where you can’t hijack planes and throw Molotov cocktails? If you don’t the US won’t stop you from leaving.
And finally in response to the insane lionization of the fellow who burned himself to death.
If someone set themselves on fire in solidarity with the Israeli hostages and victims of October 7, I know of not a single Jewish person who would laud the act. Not one.
As you might guess I’m not much of a fan of Representative Talib of Michigan. She is an ultra leftist anti-Semite who is wrong on almost every issue out there.
Her defense of Hamas is horrible although to be fair as a Palestinian brought up by Palestinians, I’m less shocked by the antisemitism than most because of what she has been taught all her life. It would be extraordinary if she wasn’t an anti-Semite and frankly coming from the district she represents it she likely would not be sitting in congress if she didn’t have her current opinions on Israel.
But while I strongly object to all of these things this story concerning her suggestion that Michigan Democrat voters protest Biden’s “support” for Israel by voting uncommitted in the Michigan primary is quintessentially American:
It’s early voting time in Michigan. On Saturday, Tlaib was outside a polling place, a civic center, and urged Michigan Democrats to show Biden they condemn his support of Israel in the Israel-Hamas war. The uncommitted movement tracks with her recent votes in Congress. She and fellow Squad member Rep.Cori Bush (D-MO) voted against banning Hamas terrorists from entering the United States. Tlaib was the only vote in the House to refuse to condemn the rape of women by Hamas.
Any reader of this blog knows that I not only support Israel here but think that the destruction of Hamas is long overdue. I think she’s wrong and dead wrong.
In addition to being dead wrong she is going about advancing her dead wrong position in exactly the right way. In a republic if you have a position you wish political leaders to support what are you supposed to do? You energize a voting block to pressure pols to adopt the position you are trying to advance.
This is exactly how our system is supposed to work and as the Muslim population grows in the US and starts to outstrip other communities these methods are more likely to be effective. The fact that she is pushing for something horrible is not relevant to the method being used. Of course the irony that she is using this democratic method to support a group of people who violently exterminate any internal opposition is likely lost on her but that’s to be expected.
I suspect as the Tom Hagen math continues in Talib’s favor you will see a lot of Democrats walking away from Israel. With luck Hamas will be a footnote in history long before that date.
It’s been nearly 10 years since my post titled Enfield Rifles, Israeli Tanks & Palestinian Lies” went up on this blog in response to claims by Palestinians that Israel was targeting civilians in their response to another Hamas attack that was immediately followed by calls from the left for a cease fire since Hamas was no longer in a position to effectively kill Jews in safety.
Unlike the last time however there seem to be a massive amount of western students educated by expensive elite colleges that have been getting a lot of fund from Arab states that seem to be making the same claims of “Genocide” and “targeting civilians” that were just as false 9 years ago when Israel wasn’t all in the way they are now.
It appears that these young mush for brains while being instructed on all 387 genders have not been taught anything about simple logic so I will explain to them the fallacy of their position in a way they will hopefully understand.
If you just want to read the original post you can click here as the point as much of the text will be the same but if you want to check out my embellishments read on:
There was a great video of Ben Shapiro answering a lot of nonsense from the “Death to Israel” crowd, a crowd so ignorant at best or mendacious as worst that one actually claimed that England didn’t bomb civilians during world war 2. The Oxford Union doesn’t allow embedding but you can view it here.
It takes a lot of ignorance for people to fall for this line although I suspect it’s more in the sense of a religious belief than actual ignorance, but for all the influences out there parroting the. “Targeting of Civilians” and “Genocide” line there is a witness who can without question prove the falsehood of that claim: The late General Reginald Dwyer.
On April 13th 1919 General Dwyer led a contingent of about 90 men to Jallianwala Bagh where there was a large crowd of Indians some for protest and some for a local fair.
After deploying 50 of his men armed with bolt action Lee Enfield Rifles (First introduced in 1895) he opened fire on the crowd. After expending aprox 1650 rounds his troops managed to inflict over 1500 casualties on the crowd with between 379 & 1000 dead depending on whose figures you believe.
Dyer never for one moment denied that he was deliberately targeting unarmed civilians, in fact Dyer actually had armored cars armed with machine guns but he was unable to bring them to bear. At the official inquiry he bluntly stated publicly that had he been able to deploy them he would have used them.
Once again here is the scene from the movie Gandhi that vividly portrayed that scene which is a key moment in the movement for Indian independence known as the Amritsar or the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Now any good anti colonialist likely knows about what happened here and rightly decries it as an evil act. I suspect that if you mentioned it to the students currently marching in favor of Hamas they might have even been taught about this as it rightly portrays a white western colonial power in a bad light.
The problem however for our friends on the left is that this action clearly establishes their claims against Israel and their narrative in Gaza as a lie.
Consider the following:
General Dwyer had 50 armed men, using 19th century bolt-action rifles and in only 15 minutes of deliberately targeting a civilian population inflicted 1500 casualties.
Israel has called up nearly 400,000 men and women, they have deployed, jets, heavy artillery, tanks and all the weapons that a modern experienced 21st century army has at its disposal. It has been on the ground in Gaza for about five days (as of this writing on Friday morning) t and for several days before this, Israel was launching air and artillery strikes on Gaza.
Furthermore they are operating in a very densely populated area. In fact we are constantly told by the defenders of Hamas that Gaza is the most densely populated place there is on earth.
Now think about this for a second.
If we are to believe the Arabs on twitter, the students in universities, the “experts” on various platforms like tic-tok and the Arab media, and those marching in cities in Europe and the US that Israel is and has been deliberately targeting Palestinian civilians since day 1 as part of “genocide” then an obvious question arises:
How is it that the Israeli Army and Air Force, given weeks of time are less efficient killers of civilians than 50 British soldiers armed with bolt-action rifles, introduced when Grover Cleveland was President of the United States, were in 15 minutes?
If Israel was doing what you claim then Gaza would have been depopulated when the first version of this post went up in July of 2014 let alone today.
Bottom line if you are still maintaining that Israel is targeting civilians and committing genocide in Gaza not only do General Dyer, the dead of Amritsar and simple logic call you a nonsensical liar but by speaking this lie you are dishonoring the dead of Amritsar who never even considered the evils that Hamas committed on Oct 7th to begin this war.
For the past several decades college campuses have been centers of progressive indoctrination rather than centers of higher learning. Over the past several years this has escalated to all out brainwashing. Just how brainwashed college students are became obvious in the wake of the horrendous attack by Hamas terrorists on Israel. Almost immediately after the cowardly attack began, demonstrations erupted on college campuses in support of the Hamas terrorists: College Students Blame Israel For Hamas Terror Attack (thefederalist.com)
Over 30 Harvard student organizations made a joint statement the day of the assault, writing that Israel is “entirely responsible” for the “unfolding violence.”
Columbia University students from the groups Students for Justice in Palestine and Jewish Voice for Peace asserted that “the weight of responsibility for the war and casualties undeniably lies with the Israeli extremist government and other Western governments.” Likewise, Students for Justice in Palestine at Northwestern University affirmed in the aftermath of the attack that they “stand unwavering in our commitment to highlighting the profound injustices faced by the Palestinian people.”
A cursory examination of statements released during these demonstrations prove how extensive this brainwashing is.
All the statements used left-wing, anti-colonial language. Harvard students described Israel as an “apartheid regime” that forced Palestinians into “colonial retaliation.” Columbia students characterized the Israelis as “extremist … colonial-settlers.” Northwestern University students stated that it is a “grievous miscarriage of justice to portray Palestinians as the aggressors in this occupation” and that it is “morally untenable to portray Israel as the victim.”
“From Algeria to Ireland, from South Africa to Vietnam, from East Timur to Tibet, and from Native American to Black American civil rights struggles, the human desire for autonomy and dignity has historically remained powerful and unwavering,” wrote the Northwestern students. “The Palestinian narrative and efforts are woven from this same fabric of endurance and determination.”
There is nothing wrong and much right about universities encouraging discussion about the history of the Middle East, the fraught politics of the region, the rights and wrongs of Israeli and Arab policies, and dissent from US policies. Academic halls and the streets of America are supposed to be realms of free speech and vigorous disagreement. As long as the vigorous debate remains peaceful and rational it should be encouraged. It’s not like anyone is above criticism.
But that is not what we are witnessing. Instead, we see the constant celebration of brutality. The murder and rape of countless civilians. The kidnapping of innocents, and the justification of evil in the name of “anti-colonialism.” If this is what anticolonialism looks like–gang rapes and kidnappings–I guess I prefer colonialism and you should too.
Our major universities, though, have become breeding grounds for an ideology that celebrates this brutality, both here and abroad. Hatred of the West has become their “brand.” Wokism is yet another, even more ideologically radical version of Marxism that exceeds the evils promoted by Marx and Engels themselves. It aims to eradicate and not in any way build upon what has been built in the West over the centuries. Marx thought he could supplant it through revolution; today’s woke just want to completely destroy it.
OUTRAGEOUS! Yale University Professor Zareena Grewal validates the murder, rape, and kidnapping of Israeli children, women, and elderly.
Meanwhile, student group 'Yalies$Palestine' refer to Hamas' murder & pillage spree a "success".
